Hello and welcome! My name is Anton and in this video, we will talk about a few changes in measurements of largest stars, which means UY Scuti is no longer the largest star in the universe - Stephenson 2-18 is.

@milanstevic8424
@milanstevic8424 4 года назад
@@user-up9dz4mr1d VV Cephei is a binary system with many unknowns. It was thought to be known, because the system is known from the 1930's, but then an interstellar eclipse in 1997 challenged our knowledge about VV Cephei A for good. It is de facto much smaller than originally estimated, though definitely around 1000 solar radii big (though it could be only 8x more massive), but blurred in a large shell along with its partner whose parameters are practically unknown. It's a dumpling soup basically.

k halliday Or the star is too big or too bright to expose tiny planets compared to the mass of the star. Stars like bettlejuice only last a few million years and wouldn’t have time to form planets. If they do have some they would have to be former rouge planets or asteroids.
@lubricatedgoat
@lubricatedgoat 4 года назад
Undoubtedly there are many planets orbiting these star types. If they are lucky to be far enough away not to be blowtorched immediately, then they have a more interesting fate awaiting their still young and cooling surface: first getting boiled by neutrinos when the star collapses, then receiving the full output of a supernova at almost point-blank. There's nothing in the universe to shield from that, unless you could somehow hide behind a black hole - but even one of those would light up as it fed on incoming matter. Not the best neighborhood. Just my guess anyway...

Most of these expanded "red supergiants" are much cooler surfaced than our Sun and hence the unit brightness is much less. Thus if the Sun is depicted as superimposed as a small BB on a large beach ball it should be shown as much brighter and a different color,perhaps a vivid bright greenish yellow or even blue-green in contrast to the orange-yellow of the cooler supergiant. Only because the supergiant has so much more radiating area than the Sun-Millionfold? is it so much brighter overall. Believe "blue hypergiants" might be more interesting than some of the red supergiants and might have resulted from red supergiants having blown off their surface layers. And might be riper for imminent supernova or hypernova explosion.

@@equaius893 TON is a black hole that was on the list for being the biggest supermassive blackhole humanity has ever seen until we found bigger ones out in the universe. But the scientists say that blackholes of that size are made by other blackholes or by feeding off of star nebulas. I'm sure though that stars can create blackholes of that super massive scale but still waiting on science for that one
