Amazing. It's more powerful than a 50cc, 2 stroke moped. So it could power lets say, Aprilia RS 50 or RS 125 motorbike. I'd love to see that! Should be easily capable of 100 km/h with proper gearing. Ever considered putting it into a motorcycle? Is there a dynamometer graph available?
Žilvinas Deveika 50cc 2stroke can have easily over 10hp and still really hard go over 100km/h well 50cc aprilia rs could easily break 100km/h because smaller air resistance , and because that engine is really unreliable , and you just can't go to store and buy new 12 cylinders :D I had rs 125 with almoust 30hp and topspeed over 160 and fuel consumption was on 344km trip about 17.5-18litres and average speed was well over 100km/h.
KSP Awesome, i'm also getting RS 125 (hopefully next week). I'm getting the newer one, with 14k RPM on the tacho but they are restricted to 18 kw, right (the older ones are 21 kw)? Any insight on that or how to make it as powerful as the older ones? At the moment i'm considering between two used RS 125 and i wouldn't trust their cylinders to endure the whole season so i'd probably change the cylinders as soon as possible, probably upgrading to a bigger bore. What's your worst experience with this bike and what do you ride now?
Žilvinas Deveika I live in finland and with A1 motorcycle driving licence at the age of 16 we can drive max 11kW bikes so all aprilia rs 125's have 11kW, but 1999-2006 Full power version have 22kW power and 2007-2009 have 21kW (FP) i have had two(2) aprilia rs 125 older one was year 2000 and had 34 000km on the gauge when i sold it and it still had same cylinder then i bought 2005 aprilia rs 125 had 26500km on gauge with original cylinder etc.. well i drived 500km with semi-synthetic 2 stroke oil and it killed the engine , seized lower con-rod bearing , I had to change crankshaft , crank bearings , seals ,piston and cylinder, but i had fun with bike for year and when i sold it , it had 30014km on gauge so there is warning that use only fully synthetic oils! and do not do engine braking while driving 2-stroke! if you want information how to get more power from aprilia just comment somewhere to my channel , i don't recomend big bore for rs it just consumpts more and only few more horsepowers when you tune your carburetor really carefully. Best way to have more power is buy bigger carburetor 32-34mm and better exhaust ( JOLLYMOTO ) is best! Now i have Mikilon m96 250 sb it has 25 hp but even though it is still fun to drive with it ( everybody says that it is chinese crap but when it's well maintainced it works like a charm! ) :)
Gorgeous. I look forward to seeing, say, a model P51 Mustang or Supermarine Spitfire in the appropriate scale running one of these. Has it been tried yet in flight, I wonder?
@ManyTailedFox Thats for sure... When this engine is on 2000 rpm and a toyota prius is on 9000 (if it can even get there) this engine still creates more power.
Mr. Drendel, A beautiful engine that should be put to work. Have someone build an ME 109 for it. That would blow away the competition,,, the sound would be perfect on a low level, high speed pass down the runway.
I have some questions: 1. Aside from costs, what would be the advantages/disadvantages of having 30 of these engines as a V-360 or X-360 as opposed to a 2.61L 4-cylinder engine with 180 HP? If you had 30 of these engines, the displacement and power would be 2.61L and 180 HP. Would it be less economical, more heavy, smoother? 2. Is there a physical limit to making an even smaller internal combustion engine? Like, say, 1CC?
So is that weight like a flywheel? Does it keep the rpm's down or just keep it idling evenly? Has this engine been used in a rc vehicle, or is it just for show?
