Very helpful! I created my first G Code last night with V-Carve tutorials I found online... yours shows me more than those did and was a lot shorter! Having worked with graphics a lot and AutoCAD, I didn't need a lot of the unnecessary stuff the other tutorials showed, just how to operate V-Carve!

Very helpful. At 13:08 you discuss cleaning up the nodes in a bulb by “making a window, right to left ….” Not sure exactly what you are doing there. A bit more specificity would be very helpful. Don’t mean to nit pick. Your videos are terrific. Thanks for your insight and help.

Hi PD. I explain this in other videos. To put it simply, when going right to left, anything the pick box touches gets selected. When going left to right, only things WITHIN the pick box are selected. Hope this explains it.

Garret on the cable for the lights why not use a 60 degree bit for more small line? Is this for a personal preference or what prevents to have a smaller carve with a smaller bit?... If I understand correctly the idea o this one is to have all cuts with same bit, but would like to know your feedback on this, thank you

Is there another place to access teh file to get the Gcode? thanks again, look forward to watching more of your videos and contributing where possible.

Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it for beginners like me. Question, when I convert my bitmap to vectors, I can’t select individual vectors like you do when you’re “cleaning up” the light bulbs or how you took the words out of the Holly image. When I click on the light bulb or Holly image I downloaded, I’m unable to seperate lines in the vector? Any ideas what I’m missing?
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
The reason you can't select individual vectors is because you bitmap trace came in grouped. Select the vector, right click and ungroup. Then you'll be able to select individual vectors. Have fun!

Wonderful video, brand new NEWBIE here. Looking to buy software and VCARVE DESKTOP seems the way to go. My question is does it come with a postprocessor and what types of GCODE does it generate? I have a homebrew kit that takes GRBL ( RAZBERRY PI) now but once I get going will probably want to upgrade. I've read the Pro version offers multiple versions. So I want to be careful how I spend my money on the software. Want to use a dedicated computer with it also, any special requirements. Graphics cards, size RAM, ect. Any advice will be well appreciated. 80 years old and trying to keep my mind working in all gears. As they say use or loose it. Thanks again in advance
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
Bulldog, every version of Vcarve comes with post processors for almost every machine imaginable including your very popular grbl in both inch and metric formats. You should be set to go in regards to post processors for your machine. As for the computer, Vectric doesnt demand quite a lot of processing power to work very well. Any dedicated modern laptop running windows 10 or higher from a name brand company should be perfect for you!

When I turn off the bitmap layer the bulbs and holly completely disappear.
@johndeshiro
@johndeshiro 2 года назад
Also when you show cutting the lines in the holly all I can cut are the arcs I drew. And you highlighted something under the holly and deleted it somehow? I have the same holly image as you and can’t figure out how you did that. This is all new to me and you go a little fast for me to keep up. I’ve paused rewinded and watched this video about twenty times and it’s not working for me the way it works for you. Also, I don’t have the font you’re using in my font list. I’m absolutely new to this. First cnc machine first exposure to the software and terminology please pardon my ignorance.

Move the holy to a different layer. Search for my video about layers. It'll explain how to do that and you'll learn a whole lot more! Just search Vectric layers and you'll see a video with the big letters layers right in the middle of the thumbnail. Watch that video.
