Great tutorial, as usual, the really interesting take (for me) was being able to import a normal 2d image as a relief, Carveco Maker never ceases to amaze

Where am i making my error. Carveco had an update and ever since the new update its been messed up, iv tried working on easel and im not having any problems. Import to easel i get the problem so it hase to be an an error in carveco im making or something in the project build out

Hi Leighton, very concise demo, not too techy & everything explained well. I would have thought a 20° V bit would have given a finer carve than the 90° ? Would you suggest spraying the wood a colour before carving or Any post carve actions e.g varnish, lacquer to protect the fine details? How about choice of material? You used MDF for the family photo, what about pine, oak, plywood etc?
@Carveco
@Carveco 3 года назад
Hi John, thank you! Yes a 20 deg would give finer results. You could spray the material before carving or spray after carving and sanding off the top for a different type of finish. The choice of material here was completely dependent on what material was sitting around at the time, this was left over from a customer demo and was going to go in the skip!

Very cool. Would it be possible to perform this operation using a spiral pattern instead of straight lines? I'm new to cnc and haven't committed to a particular software package yet as i am waiting for my Onefitity to arrive, but carveco seems very sleek. Is this feature part of the basic Maker package?
@Carveco
@Carveco 3 года назад
Hi Nick. Yes, you can do the same thing using a Spiral strategy in Maker.

THis is a great program. I just have Carveco MAker. No need for anything else right now anyway. Its good for Onefinity Users like me because of the size limitations with Vcarve being 24" x 24"..this has no limitations unless you are making a football field..user friendly.

I tried to do as you suggested and made a vector around the people in the photo I am trying to carve. I did the outside carve at 45 degree and the inside carve at 315 degrees. For the most part, it is doing as it should, but it is also doing a line along the vector. So my people have an outline. Any idea why it is making this?

You may be best sending over the file to support@carveco.com so they can take a look and advise Michael. It is kind of hard to say without even seeing an image of the problem.

Great video. I have 1 question, when you say press F9 to center the picture are you referring to the F9 on the key board or the top row F9. It doesn't matter which one I use neither one works, has no effect when I hit either one.

I am trying to follow this to learn but you are doing options I can not find. You have a tool box labeled "project" with tools and options I do not have. Also I clicked simulate from top tool bar then reset from toolpath simulation the program freezes in fact several points throughout this it freezes I have reset and started over 5+ times

Hi Michael, sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing. Please email our support team via support@carveco.com or raise a ticket through the help centre and our support team will be able to help you further. Please let them know what version of Carveco Maker you're running (For example: Carveco Maker 1.12) and also the specs of your computer (this looks at first glance that it might potentially be a graphics card issue). To view the Project panel, use the top menu and go to 'Window' > 'Toolbars and Docking Windows' > 'Project' or, alternatively 'Window' > 'Reset Layout' prior to opening a model.

How do you keep the "project" tab from disappearing. Everytime I start a new project or even open an old one the "project" tab is gone.
@Carveco
@Carveco 2 года назад
Pressing F4 on the keyboard is a quick way to toggle it. Or, you can go to the "Windows" drop down, then "Toolbars and Docking Windows" and then select "Project"

Constantly rewatching this to ensure I am doing everything right. I noticed that the step down was not discussed. Wouldn't this cause the cut to start at a depth of half the material and also affect the turnout of the carve as its cutting deeper than intended? If so wouldn't this need to be adjusted to the height the image was set at or smaller?
@Carveco
@Carveco 11 месяцев назад
The stepdown doesn't matter too much since it is only 0.040" (1mm) thick, so you can just run it over the top of the material. This is set up so it is 0.040" off the top of the material. If the relief was something like 1" thick, then definitely, would need to discuss stepdown, but the photo v-carve wouldn't work in that case because the relief would be too thick. Remember, the tool cannot go below that relief.
@kennybellew
@kennybellew 2 года назад
Following along, but as soon as I select Simulate path, the relief image disappeared and a white background shows. What's happening?
@Carveco
@Carveco 2 года назад
I suspect the white is the simulation Kenny. Without seeing any settings I would guess that the material hasn't been set up or has been set up incorrectly. If you still have problems, send our support team a message - support@carveco.com

I know you said can deviate 0.05 and in the past you have tested .118 (3mm) which didn't turn out right. In regards to doing a epoxy inlay on a photo carve would that depth be sufficient. New to both CNC's and epoxy.

We've not tried a photo v-carve in epoxy yet, but if you do a search for @Timberfalls (Jason Woodruff), on the Facebook Carveco group, I'm pretty sure he has had a lot of success doing these.

Leighton - I have followed this exactly as you have described and used a photo I have for a test. The photo is 748 pixels square and I set it to V-carve 8 inches square. The toolpath takes a lot longer than yours did to generate and when I save it, using the same settings you did for a start, the file is about 44k. I notice yours is about 1.4k. My file has 1.7 million lines of code. I changed the tolerance from 0.001" to 0.005" and the file is now 255k and about 5,000 lines of code - much better but am I missing something? Why does mine take so long to generate the toolpath - probably 20-30 seconds - and produce such a large file? I have the full blown Carveco and not Maker, in case that makes a difference. Thanks for the videos!!
@Carveco
@Carveco 4 года назад
Hi David, that sounds like a setting somewhere is different. Could you send over the art file to support@carveco.com please and we will take a look at it. If it is too large for email, then use wetranfer to send it. Thanks and thanks for watching!

Hi David, it looks like you are using Raster in the flagship Carveco product rather than Raster (Classic) like in the tutorial, hence the difference in code sizes.

@jpmosher6508 Год назад
Why, during the simulations, did it go from a negative 45 degree angle (Time 19:53), left to right, to a positive 45 degree angle (Time 22:44)? You only mentioned about do the boy and dog one way and the background another.
@Carveco
