Oh, BOY was that good. The other Impromptus in the same '73 set, too. Horowitz seemingly always had to let you know just who is playing any piece. He always got HIS hands all over it (pun intended). But NOT in this case! It's just a spanking-good performance of Schubert's heavenly piece, perfect balance in the hands, bringing out the voices in the perfect proportions (something at which VH was always marvelous).

After listening to Schubert specialists like Fisher, Kempf, Gieseking and couple of others I have to give my preference to the great Horowitz. Bravo!!

Adoro ouvir Horowitz, " Tem pessoas que deveriam ser eternas " quando eu ouço este Improviso eu viajo, na segunda parte quando os acordes mais agudos começam a conversar com os acordes mais graves, parece Deus conversando com o homem, Deus com sua voz mais grave e mais imponente, e o ser humano, suplicando com sua voz mais fina e aguda, acredito que Schubert teve um momento divino de inspiração ao compor esta peça, e diga-se de passagem, Muito bem executada por Horowitz.

I agree. The performances by Schiff and Dinu Lipatti are more to my own taste, too.

maybe you also want to listen to Mr Brendel´s interpretations. They´re nice as well.

Helmut Pirk i like his approach to this piece. I’m a huge Horowitz fan! But Brendel does so own this piece!!
