💜 I think the best versions of V's first solo album "Layover" are the live performances, especially the ones at "Tiny Desk Korea". So here comes the full album live in the same sequence as they appear on the album. But the bonus track isn't the piano version of "Slow Dancing", instead it's the best performance so far of the song at Tiny Desk Korea.

💜 V has explained that the title Layover came about while he was contemplating what his final destination is in his life and career and the way to get there. "The intent behind naming my first solo album, Layover, is to represent a starting point like I’m just beginning to paint the picture that is Kim Taehyung. I realized there’s a long way to the final destination of my life. There are a lot of different ways to get to that final destination. Why not give yourself the time to rest, look back at yourself, and create new goals? Thinking about all of that, I decided on the name Layover. I really hope that listeners of this album will also take it as an opportunity to reflect on their lives, think about their goals, and take some moments of rest wherever they need."
When V was visiting Suga at his show SUCHWITA they talked about the fact that V had been working on songs for his first solo album for 2-3 years. But none of those tracks are on "Layover" and V explained why: "I couldn't complete the songs so I got so stressed from that." He decided to receive songs and he got one he fell in love with. But he thought he wouldn't be able to bring out his charms as much as he could so he asked Min Hee-jin (ADOR) to direct the album.

In this track, V’s voice melds beautifully with the sound of rain and everyday white noises, tugging at the listeners’ heartstrings. It's a heartfelt song in the Alternative POP R&B genre, expressing longing and the reminiscence of a past relationship. The melancholic ambiance created by the rain parallels the singer’s yearning to reconnect with a past love.
💜 Blue
Produced by: Jinsu Park, Absent Chronicles
Songwriters: Absent Chronicles, Catharina Stoltenberg, Gigi, Henriette Motzfeldt, Jinsu Park
"Blue" is an homage to old-school R&B with a modern twist, adding a special flair to the song. V is singing to someone who people admire, but that person is jaded and sad. The lyrics seem to convey a sense of longing, introspection, and a desire for change. The repetition of "on and on and on" in the intro and post-chorus suggests a feeling of continuity or persistence. In the first verse, the mention of colors like green, yellow, red, and blue may symbolize different emotions or possibilities, with a focus on feeling "blue.
💜 Love Me Again
Produced by: freekind., Jinsu Park
Songwriters: Donghyun Kim, freekind., Gigi, Jinsu Park
“Love Me Again” is a melancholic ballad that beautifully captures the complex emotions after a painful breakup. The lyrics dive deep into a sense of yearning, regret, and hope, perhaps wishing for a second chance or at least a closure. The song, with its R&B vibe and dreamy vocal tone, makes it a poignant ballad that many can relate to in moments of heartbreak and introspection. The song serves as a mirror to anyone who has ever wished for a lost love to return.
💜 Slow Dancing
Produced by: freekind., Jinsu Park
Songwriters: Donghyun Kim, freekind., Gigi, Jinsu Park
The focus track of V's album Layover, "Slow Dancing", is a ‘70s romantic soul-style track that exudes a laid-back and free-spirited feeling, just as the title suggests. "Slow Dancing" boasts a tranquil composition with a mesmerizing flute interlude in its latter part. “In keeping with its title, it’s a song that you can listen to while feeling relaxed,” said V. “I hope that everyone will be able to feel free and relaxed at least during the time when they’re listening to this song.”
💜 For Us
Produced by: Monro
Songwriters: freekind., Monro
"For Us" is a soft R&B track that offers a contrast between accepting distance and wanting to reconnect with a person. In the track’s striking production, the ongoing shift between the high-pitched tone and V’s vocals works as a mood changer throughout the song, making it seem like there’s a conversation between two people. “For Us” is shaded with nostalgia, longing, and acceptance, yet filled with hope for the next chapter in the story. It's a pop R&B track that leaves a lasting impression on the entire album. It serves as an epilogue, stirring up deep emotions with V’s vocals and unique lyrics.
