Sat along side and monitored one of these on Diego Garcia for about 4 hours as the main power was off. Even with ear plugs, by the time i was relieved i was tired. Noise goes right through you. That and tropical sun / heat ...
It was not. It has been operating without prelube starting like this for 30 years, and will probably continue to for several years before it gets upgraded. Still works perfectly.
