V2V Migration from ESXi to Hyper-V Using StarWind V2V Converter and Microsoft VM Converter

My lab VMs are migrating from ESXi 6 to Windows 10 Hyper-V recently. I tested two software , StarWind V2V Converter and Microsoft VM Converter (Retired around 2017). Both are free to use. StarWind V2V Converter does require you to register to get a download link: www.starwindsoftware.com/tmpl...
Microsoft Virtual Machine Converter does not work well in my environment. But StarWind V2V Converter works perfectly. I am really happy with the result and speed to do conversion.

I need to covert a VMware server to Hyper-V tomorrow and found out MS VM Converter is discontinued. This is exactly what I need. Thanks!

Hello. Thank you for the video. Do you remember if the destination VM needed to be reactivated? Some software like Pervasive PSQL will break activation if the machine ID changes.

thanks for this video, may i ask, if my VMhost connect to storage and take this storage make disk, can i convert exsi to hyper-v, my data will save

do vmware vm have to be offline before you can convert? Also i dont have hyperv server on site no way to convert it to just a vhdx without the server there or specifying login credentials? always used disk2vhd but this server giving me grief during snapshot. love it cause i can normally run it on a live server no need to bring offline first

I have Ubuntu on VMware and also windows server on same VMware. I want to migrate Ubuntu to hyperv inside windows server. I tried after installing starwind and using v2v but stuck on third step where we put the ip address user credentials. Getting error "no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" could you please suggest what to do in this issue and how to resolve

It might relate to your Ubuntu authentication.

Update to Microsoft option: no longer available. They moved it/killed the link so you can't have it. Conveniently (for MS), if you get SCCM you have it's replacement.

not sure what kind of error you met. But if it does not work and you are using right command, you might want to use right ESXi version. Try to upgrade your ESXi' and VM version to latest you can, and try it again.
