Video Option Vol 83: the focus in this segment of the DVD was on the popular new trend in Japanese drifting the engine swap. As many know, V8 swaps have become the norm in America, Europe etc. Now the trend is alive and well in Japan also. In this edition of video option, Kumakubo San compares driving his old D1GP 430hp SR20 S15 to his new LS3 Powered S15. Most notable he speaks about not having to change gears so much and also he can give his left leg a break from clutch kicking.

確かに高いですよね。 150万円。でも、SRでもフルチューンとかしたら同じようにお金はかかりますし、メンテナンスも大変です。クラッチも蹴りまくるので駆動系の負担も半端ないです。ミッションもドグに比べたら、かなり安いですね。スコスコ入る高強度。再興ですね!!! それにしても、3000回転以下でもドリフト出来るなんて…

Yea it is indeed cool man. I have been here in Japan since 2008 and I learned fast that Japanese are pretty set in their ways. Many of them blow SR20 after SR20 and just keep swapping in SR20's. The engine swap is just a new and accepted trend while the Americans and other foreigners who live in Japan such as myself have been doing it for a while now.

Although it seems a bit strange swapping an ls motor in my favorite car, it's nice. Low-rpm torque and such stuff. Also, I like its look. If you pull off the stickers it's like a street s15. I just wish I could speak Japanese…

I took a memo that thermo meter for motor cycles is cheaper.... haha Attractive V8 sound and 4speeds gear box! This reminds me of Nascar at North Carolina

Drift Tengoku is part of Video Option under Sunpros co LTD. Drift Heaven refers to what Ebisu is called as it is indeed heaven on earth for drifters.

just wondering dude do u speak Japanese and do you think that you need to learn it before you visit or do enough people speak English to be able to visit without learning it?

Going to any foreign country all attempts should be made to learn the host countries language. It separates you from all the other selfish/rude people who visit a country and think that the world must conform to their native language. I am not saying learn everything but at least survival and at the very least how to say hello and thank you lol.

Also I speak a handful of Japanese. Basically the basics most consisting of car talk as that's what I talk about mostly with Japanese buddies.

Yea its more work to drive the sr but its alot more fun having to clutch kick and work your real skills vs the v8 yea i get the concept but its just kinda boring lol. But as always to each their own.
