Great truck! I didn't think it was possible to put a V8 in a 404 until I saw your thread, nice job. I have a 404 also and was interested in your power steering. How did you reverse rotation on the F350 steering box and how do you like the way it works. Also what year Expedition did you get your rear springs from? Best 404 Unimog I have ever seen, thanks for the inspiration.
Wow! O.k., lots of muscle. But, I pity the tires. I have learned, not so wise to spin the tires, especially on sharp rocks. But, same with snow, it just makes ice under.
+Aleksandar Popov Propably he cant because if you observe you will see that although he made a very good job in reconstracting this Unimog he also made a big mistake to change the wheels...this system with deflatation works only in the original merc. wheels that is attached to them!!!
+Eftihis Androulakis Actualy the 404 unimog never came with CTIS only the newer models had it. Those wheel are H1 hummer rimes, so they are set up to have it.
+Aleksandar Popov Why deflate this was the deepest snow of the day and we were just testing the new combination out, wasn't worth the time. Usually we deflate down to 2-4 PSI when we go out but that's in snow 3+ feet deep. Yes newer unimogs have CTIS but 404 unimogs do not.
Hahahaha, you are Crazy. A v8? With a Unimog's stuck gears you can do just fine with 110HP (u110). There have even been models with only 25 HP to work the fields.
it's a sin to take out the original engine if it is not replaced with an engine of the same brand. A six cylinder diesel fits the mog better than that crappy v8 ford.
