The long range rods has the Okuma Aventa pro 6000's on and the short range has got a Shimano XT6000 on (one of the older models, green colour). They dont make that colour anymore.
@@rods_recoil Cheers for the response. I know the brand Shimano but not Okuma so I will check them out. I was last on the Vaal dam back in the 1980's ( caught 2 x 3kg Carp ) and not sure to return since I left SA in 1999.
The Okumas are good value for money and comes with 3 x extra aluminium spools per reel, if you buy the pro version. These reels are perfect for our conditions with the bait runner function. This was my first trip to the Vaaldam, will be a lot better in summer, but as of yet we havent had a very cold winter thus far.
