I still have my Electrolux canister for over 40 years, bring it in for a service when needed, never giving it up, still works great!

We have an Oreck vacuum that my father used to own. After selling his house, we took it to a local Oreck store for refurbishing and it's so light. Sadly, no attachments, but it does work well.

Per your recommendation I bought a Shark Professional upright about 7 years ago and I love it. Lots of attachments so versatile but yes, you do get some airborne dust particles when you dump the canister into the bin

I've found that my cordless stick vacuum is even more powerful than my corded upright. My Dyson was definitely more expensive than the alternatives, but the ability to have just one vacuum that can do carpet, hardwood, stairs, and even cobwebs off the basement ceiling without having to lug something heavy around, and with 30+ minutes of battery life, it's enough to do the whole house. Really the only con is, as you said, some dust goes airborne when you shake the canister over the trash can, but I still prefer that over having to change bags.

Two batteries and outside dust bin emptying take care of my stick ryobis (plural! While the heavier uprights and Lift away and canister stay stored… even the Oreck. I’d rather vacuum hard and fast daily and keep the huge dogs and hairy little ones hair and our constant outdoor tracking at bay. I hate canisters. But! We have no wall to wall carpeting.

No MEN testers??? ;-( Heavy?????
