I'm impressed with what Vaer is doing. I'm a mechanical watch guy - or was maybe? I bought a C5 about 2 years ago on a bit of a whim, something to use while I put my Damasko DA46 in for service, and something to alternate with. I was hoping not to destroy it in a short time while I was wearing it every day, which is what typically happens with a "budget" or quartz watch. Two years later and I was still wearing it every day. A very solid watch, but I never really liked the hands and face. I just bought a C5 Tactical Field and it's great, much better lume, (better than my Damasko) Great hands and face. Fantastic watch!
@@the1010watchclub the watch was just delivered a few minutes ago. My initial thoughts are that it is easy to set and it looks great. One issue that I should have anticipated, the supplied straps are too short to reach around my wrist. I'm going to have to order something from Amazon.
This sector of the watch market has its contenders, where I have a Timex Expedition; and have had it for a while. That too is an option, and personal choice.
I have several Timex Expeditions. Great watches for the money. I was a Light Infantryman with the 7th ID (L) from 88 to 91. I bought a 15-dollar Expedition when I first got to my unit at Ft. Ord CA. I wore it to every field exercise to include a 5-month tour in Panama when the US invaded Panama to oust General Noriega. That watch never missed a beat. On my last day at Ft. Ord, as I was packing my bags to leave, a new soldier mentioned he needed to go buy a watch. So I took my Expedition off my wrist and tossed it to him. In a way I'm glad the old watch got to stay at Ord, but sometimes I sure do miss that cheap, but tough as nails watch.
You didn't mention the fact that the second hand doesn't align with the indices. Yes, I know that many watches that don't have the smooth motion have this problem as well, but I saw this immediately and it detracted from my otherwise positive impression of this lovely watch.
I have an S3 (same watch at 36mm) and absolutely love it, and was hoping to hear about alternatives/competition in this video. What other watches would one compare to this? Timex Expedition, Hamilton Khaki, what else?
in a military watch I would say a domed crystal would be necessary, so you dont flash a bright glint of reflected sunbeam off someplace, but a regular watch, a domed crystal would certainly begin to take scratches and beatings quite frequently and easily.
Great review. Some other potential contenders for best inexpensive micro brand field watches: Long Island Watch and the SWC Ark. Both are $200 or less.
I think I have a winner 🏆 It's the Seconder Field watch at £25 from Amazon. Fantastic clarity, 50 meters waterproof, beautiful shape, with lume, give it a look Love to hear what you think. I really enjoyed your precise Review. You have another subscriber.
Great bracelet...and durability! I also like the contrasting colors...the date could be clearer...overall nice design!! It's like they say (whoever "they" are -lol) we don't realize how much stuff we have until we move..you'll get there one step at a time! SENDING HAPPY THANKSGIVING WISHES OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!🎑 🍁🍁
This uses a Miyota 2035. Nothing super special but still good. The 2115 (used in the Duro) seems more popular in microbrands. The Seiko Epson VH31 with sweep seconds hand would have been the cherry on top for this watch. Thanks for the upload.
I can't even hear it holding it up to my ear about 1 inch away. I have to *press* it to my ear so that the sound is transmitted by touch in order to hear it. Very quiet.
People say one day I’ll have this watch referring to more expensive watches. Yeah, they constantly are buying less expensive watches. If you just saved all that money and bought the more expensive watch you could get it quicker. Like that’s gonna happen
It can get some dust etc caught in it but honestly it’s my go-to strap for any of my 20mm lug width watches when I want a rubber strap and I’ve had minimal dirt issues
No need for a Big Crown on a Quartz Watch. That's a little puzzeling, also, whatever it cost for really good AR Coating, just Do It, and add it on to the total. If Customers know It's Great, We will gladly pay a little extra.
