It would be great if you could someday provide your own commentary on top of your Russian ballet videos, Ballet Conrad. Would be interesting to hear your analysis of the dancers, the exercises, and the pedagogy. :)
I'm noticing that the girl on the left does a slight bend in her knee when closing her tendu in front. Sometimes it happens with the girls in the middle barre too, mostly when they go faster. Is this considered completely incorrect? Or does leg shape have an influence on whether that bend needs to happen to close in fifth? I also do the slight bend in the leg when closing tendu, and am looking to fix this habit.
It's caused by a lack of turnout. Since the back knee is still facing the front (their knees aren't fully facing side yet), it gets in the way of the front knee. Eventually they will be able to close with straight legs, as their turnout improves.
It is incorrect for the knee to bend upon closing the leg from tendu into fifth. I’m order to fix this the girl has to lift herself up in the standing hip and lengthen the working leg as much as possible. Although it’s really hard to get this right 🥲
@NicolettaRomeo Actually Polonskaya was teaching in NYC a few years ago. Polonskaya said before she was teaching at the Bolshoi Ballet satellite school in Brazil and at Tulsa Ballet in Oklahoma.
There can be several reasons why there are few students. The bad technique caused injury from over turned out feet not getting knee over toe duck butt lethargic frappe and petite battement not placing plantar fascia on the ground coming down from relever before plie not getting chest forward during arabesque over stretching the spinal cord. Don't expect miracles if the brain wasn't trained at barre. Too much plantar fascia popping off ground and chintzy echapper. It isn't a concern to not get a fully straight knee closing fifth because you never want to sacrifice the supporting leg. There wasn't any talent to select that year. Nobody auditioned because ideals are shifting from westernization. The bolshoi let's students wear whatever. Financial trouble. Zero future. Overstaffed companies. And American ballet companies can't afford getting duped from extreme curvy legs that can't stand on point that's why audition videos don't make the cut.
Это Академия Русского Балета в Санкт-Петербурге. Занимаемся в купальниках, чтобы педагог каждую минуту видела где стоят бедра, опорная нога. Насколько выворотно работаем. Это очень важно в процессе обучения!
