Have found in this interview and a few others on British tv,where the interviewer is quite rude and takes the mickey out of the show. Well done to the actors for not reacting badly to the questions.
What kind of question is that to ask Fiona? About if she would stand up for the Australian National Anthem. That is so rude and you can tell by the look on her face when he said it she looked very shocked and lost for words. What a prick!!
that question really bothered me too....out of all of the questions you could ask...why on earth ask that! I love how she very sweetly somewhat avoided it
I loved prisoner and i was so upset when Bea got shipped to barnshurst and it cut me to the bone when Lizzie called out to Bea and Bea couldn't even say goodbye to her that was so heartbreaking val you will always be our top dog even though these shows are no longer on TV now but I want to thank you for bringing bea to life for all of your fans you are a amazing and beautiful lady and to Carol burns may she rest in peace she done such a amazing job playing Frankie Doyle I miss all of the ones who are now gone including our Lizzie birdsworth thank you all for this amazing show 😊
Wow! You would never guess Carol was australian! She sounds so poshe and british nothing like Frankie Doyle!! I know she had elecution lessons at school
@krystlerita True. She has aged really well and looks good for someone in her early 60's. She must have had alot of men after when she was younger especially in her Prisoner days. It turns out she is a lesbian and met her life partner on the set of Prisoner.
By the time of these interviews, Fiona had a much higher profile in the UK, because Home and Away was new and causing a sensation. Val and Carol were virtually unknown outside of Cell Block H
I do believe Carol wants to play other characters and not go back, only forward, which is cool and understandable, just like Val wants to and not be just known as Bea Smith, but as other characters too. :) I also reckon Val wasn't keen because Elspeth was in the first live show and there is history there between them. But thankfully Val remained calm and nice and stuff in the interview, so good on her for that. :)
They're not British at all. Val Lehman is Australian but putting on a posh voice. She sounds like Bea in real life. Carol Burns is an Aussie too, but doesn't sound like Frankie in real life, she is more well spoken. Very classically trained in theatre and elocution. Carol didn't milk it, she may have been in Prisoner only a short while, but she is probably the best known character. Frankie is very memorable.
@tigger I heard that Carole Skinner who played Nola McKenzie in Prisoner was born in New Zealand too. Although on Google, it says that Carole was born in Australia and Val was born in Perth, Australia. 😃
I should have made what I meant clearer and looked again at the whole video and mentioned both clips in my last post 11 months ago. When Val's clip was playing, "Grundy Television" was under the title "Prisoner Cell Block H", unlike Fiona's clip saying "Thames TV" under "Prisoner Cell Block H", so no that doesn't make sense whoever added "Thames TV" in Fiona's clip. ;o)
Oh you gotta have Fiona Spence , saying to Meg, re Mr Fletchers smart alec comments about relations between Vera & the new screw Harrision "he's practising to be the resident idiot!"
carol burns has really milked the fact that she was in prisoner, she was only there for a short while and anytime there's something on tv about it she's there.
