Best teacher is who learns himself. If you are basically mastered the craft ,then it becomes very hard to articulate your thouht and methods to your students. Learned this as a roofer (22 years) and polisher(7 years). When started in roofing couple of years i coul teach pretty easy, after tenth year i had big oroblems with that, big help eas thay younger brother worked with me and he is better teacher, but when worked in polishing we both had big problems with teaching.

I remain impressed by KSR's attention to detail, to driver safety. I used to do technical marketing for my software product and often used "Robust and Elegant" in brochures to descript the product. I'd have customers with a budget, a delivery date and a set of requirements that were sometimes unworkable. In my lab I had a sign that said "Fast (rapid creation), Cheap, Good. Pick any two. That would guide our discussions. KSR work is robust and elegant and always good (safety and performance) probably with fast and cheap being discussion points.

I grew up in Mansfield, OH, and my parents still live there. We could hear Mid-Ohio from our back porch depending on conditions and which cars were running. I was really hoping to make it out there this weekend but life happens and plans changed. Hope Lee, you, and Eddie have a great weekend!

Great video. Why not just weld the spot you messed up on the dash bar since it's not structural? I know the answer is because of your craftsmanship, but seemed like a quick fix to a small mistake.

I love the way you explain things. Im no welder or chassis fabricator but feel you give us a good insight into how hard/tricky these things are to build and why they take time and money. Better over built and safe than under built and a death trap.

Thinking your tubular weight bars being so long, may allow shot, even in bags, may allow the mass to shift, unintentionally altering center of gravity. Just a observation. Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing.

Go with the modulating brake controller that adjusts with the amount of brake pedal applied such as a Tekonsha p3.

He just used the tubing from his car as a template to locate and hold the tabs in place to be welded. Once welded he removed the tubing.

Consider adding some dampening material under the relay board given that it’s cantilevered off the bar and the vibration it will see from the rear suspension

At the 22:30 mark it looks like there is an incomplete weld on that gusset in the upper left part of the (video) frame. Probably just lost in the shadow.

So would it make sense to add a port in the air system so that in the event the rear electrical failed and compressors could not run - coul you add a gas port for a CO2 or ? tank Like an air hose or the Quick time quick connect fittings Shit can happen

We use them a lot at work on round as well as flat if there not pulled correctly they can spin I understand that , but your a craftsman and you know what you like to do and what your happy with

@UKMechanic because it’s not a cable. It’s air. So you hit the button which triggers the valve that air has to travel the distance from the valve to the chute handle.

@UKMechanic the cables are the mechanical operation from the handle to the chute bag. Air pushes the handle and the air ram behind the chute. The Mac valve is connected to the button on the steering wheel. There is no Mac valve for the air rams on the chute.

I have a question...after welding all the frame tubes you start drilling a gazillion holes for weld-nuts that require drilling the frame tubes. How do you clean all the "filings" from the inside of the frame tubes since they are now enclosed?

The majority of them fall outside of the chassis when using a step bit. The small amount that gets inside of the tube, I’m not too worried about.

Up under the dash bar? It’s welded, though we coated the chassis in Fast Etch a few months ago when the project got parked by the previous owner so it’s all the same color. Good eye though!

The entire chassis will be sand blasted before powder coat.

Painting is an even bigger pain and the powder coat will be more chip and scratch resistant

Im a little worried about a rear tire blow out and taking out the leash board. I know it may never happen but if the car has carbon wheel tubs, wouldnt a blow out maybe take out the leash board?

Are you using rubber isolators or some sort of vibration dampener to help protect the electronics @5:05 , or has that ever been an issue with electrical gremlins?
