Har was working at Zill's many decades ago when 'Valcarrie' first fruited and now he's here to tell this mango's story! Then, Chris and Har taste a 'Valcarrie' mango.
Didn't know that this variety is that old. This is first year I learned about it and so glad I was able to enjoy it from Walter Zill's grove. THE BEST mango I ever came across.
From what I gather, ValCarrie is a true hybrid of the parents, it has the shape and the alternating trait of the VP, the skin color of the Carrie, taste and texture, also a mix of the two fruit. not as soft as Carrie not as firm as VP. I wonder about the growth habit, Valencia pride, is extremely vigorous, one of those, "plant the tree, and run" growers. Carrie on the other hand not so much. which of those two traits did it inherit ? or is it somewhere in the middle?
Hi Chris, greetings from Pembroke Pines, Florida! could you do me a favor by responding. I have a Velencia Pride in my yard. I wonder if we can graft a valcarrie scion, will it be successful? If yes, do you know any one can who can help me graft on my VP tree. Thanks in advance!
@@nicholas8479 Thanks for your response Nicholas. I could not find any one who can do the multiple grafts on Valencia Pride tree which grown good and we had very good harvest this last season. Can you help me with the graft please. Much appreciated for your response. Thank you.
If your production is light Why not plant these poly seeds…? Two of my favorites is Carrie and Valencia pride…but maybe too far apart to see a hybrid seedling…
