Never happen under current rules. EVERY team would have to switch to FCS (unlike hockey which can be solo D1 like Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, etc), read a great Q&A with GVSU AD on same subject, even at 17k capacity (this years attendance for Ferrris@GV) their stadium would be inadequate, $80 million alone plus all other venues. Too costly. McKinney was like $70 million and only 12k seats.
Pretty much a nail biter in the first quarter. Then the Ferris OLine started to take control of the show. The curtain is up on this offense Ferris uses. Grand Valley is already in transition going to this system to try to stay competitive. But it is still Tony Annese's offensive scheme that many teams will copy. CMU interviewed him but did not hire, wonder how they are thinking now. Depending on how many more years Tony stays, he has a chance to add more Championships at Ferris.
I rewatched the video to pay attention to the scheme, man that is crazy! Three Tight Ends sometimes? 327 rush yards and 0 pass yards late in the second quarter? These are some wild numbers and that's a sick way to win, just dominate up front to bring the DBs forward and then take whatever the defense gives
@@gfusportsnetwork6321 Isolation reads are also important. Depending on how wide they can entice the linebackers out in the flats with receivers in motion the QB has the option of going to the run. Valdosta fell for the trap and Bernhardt made them pay on play 1 for a TD.
If he wanted to leave Ferris State, he's had opportunities to before. He's 61 now, i think and not getting any younger. If he wants to go higher, he may have missed his chance, imo.
I was about to comment the same thing. It definitely won't be that score, but hopefully Michigan can pull it off. Georgia beat everyone pretty badly outside of their loss to Bama.
@@terrellemeryscoolvideos6741 I like to think of it as a good sign I obviously know it's not gonna affect the outcome just nice to see the northern team best a southern one in any division
I'm a Valdosta State fan. Congratulations to Ferris State on a a winning the National Championship! God bless both universities, teams , students, players, and fans!
Well it would appear Jimmy H needs to drive up to Big Rapids talk to Tony Anesse about going to the multi option spread offense. Michigan needs to revamp their QB play and develop a more long term strategic vision.
Nobody was able to stop Jared Bernhardt, the former Tewaaraton Award winner, all season. Best lacrosse player and best D2 football player, what an athlete!
I'm so proud of them. Glad I transferred there and got to meet some of them. Didn't know football was that big in Michigan. Can say I got to see them win their first championship
Didn’t know football was big in Michigan? Michigan and Ohio are big football states and always have been. Midwest football is actually goated. This year #1 Ferris state #2 grand valley in D2 and in D1 you have #4 Michigan also msu even tho they’re doing bad but wmu cmu are all relevant teams that do good once in a while
When we played them the first time (2018) we couldn’t stop their run game. They tightened up their backend tremendously since. Good game but games are won in the trenches
The D2 championship game used to be played in Alabama. Why the NCAA moved this game is beyond comprehension, but then, whatever the NCAA does is beyond comprehension.
That is because North Alabama used it as home field advantage in the 1990's. Playing at Florence was okay playing field wise, they did not have a major airport in the area an it was tight getting our aircraft into that short landing strip. The game was moved to KC for a year I think, then the NCAA decided to take bids on who could host it.
They can. Earlier in the season, Mylik Mitchell (the 2nd string qb) broke the single game record for pass yards with 508. Running the ball has just been the bread n butter since Annesse took over.
The D2 game had been played for years , until couple years back, at Florence ,AL..the home of D2 team,North Alabama ..Maybe its been more like six, seven years ago ,they tried it at Bonner Springs Live Strong stadium , the home of Sporting Kansas City..That venue seemed pretty nice but that experiment was short-lived ..This stadium in McKinney TX is really nice...As one comment to you asserted, they do football right in Texas...You aren't going to ever need more seats than what they have..A D2 school isn't going to travel all that many people , and local interest is limited ,even though it's great football and it is Texas..They used to play an annual game in KC ,the Fall Classic they called it , at Arrowhead between NW MO St and Pitt State Gorillas , my college , and it drew about 18 to 22,000 but not much more . This venue is very suitable for hosting the game and for the first time, they had it in prime time .
