Excellent video!! Beautiful screaming sounds and definitely Intercity travels best time!! I live in Plymouth and its amazing how unchanged the station is since the 90s!!
I love the sound of that Turbo of these iconic trains. I would love to have a driver experience on one of these in the future. Thanks for the video share. I would be glad to buy a copy on DVD.
No dvd version, I did a VHS version here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pv2rEQN3nPo.html Currently in the process of remastering this and others to 4k Can now get better quality on RU-vid than DVD
Exact type of 125 nottingham train station circa 1989-1990 age 3 or 4 i remember the size the monstrous sound and power thatll never ever be forgotten 😊
We used to listen to these things thundering through Laira Junction ( from Laira Ave).....that double shriek made the hair on your neck stand up - i,ll never forget it 🙂
I absolutely love the livery of the Intercity HSTs, the Red black white and yellow. It looks fantastic! Not like after privatisation, multicoloured monstrosities.
Awesome! Thanks for uploading, this brings back so many memories although from a different area. I was remembering how the exhaust deposits would make a mess of the trailing power car windscreen when I saw the bloke with the brush and soapy water.
I’m not much of a train buff, but I remember these powering out of Southampton during my Uni lectures hearing them scream, gave me chills. Question though. I read the HST only had 1 power car and the opposite end was empty. But every video I’ve seen, both ends are screaming? Can anyone explain? Thanks!
First departure shown - no red warning lights to rear power car? Forgot to activate or faulty perhaps? Either way, i expect heads would roll for that today!
Screaming nuisance, too rough on the eardrums by far! were never the ideal choice, ill thought out to be that noisy. The Mirlees replacement engines being less audibily offensive, and more well suited to the task.
