Thanks so much Josh ! The roses are amazing and fun to make. I made one for my wife for Valentine's Day and it was a huge hit ! Lots of other folks loved it too. Our cat likes to eat real roses, so a beautiful Bermuda Cedar one saved the day ! Thanks for your inspiration and excellent channel.

I carved one, but you make the whole thing out of wooden petals. I tip my hat to you! Amazing effect.

This is so awesome! I am watching it way too late to try and make it happen this year, but I will definitely be giving it a go next year! I like the tangents as well. Keep up the amazing work you do!

The hole saw is a great way of using up scrap / offcuts. If your new to woodturning and looking for cheap or free wood to practice with.

Your going to have to try making a wood tulip next! If any one can do it, it's you.

You could just use a stick from about any tree as the stem and it would look neat also!

That was fun, Josh! I agree, the smaller final vase was the nicest one. In thinking over your technique for turning on the table saw, I think the danger is in advancing the piece too much at a time causing kickback and/or possibly a catch + flip of the piece upwards - which obviously you didn't have any troubles with. There is a case for a Matthias Wandel style rotate + advance jig to make it less dangerous to less experienced woodworkers.

I think you should invest in a cheap lathe. I would be excited to see how creative you could get with it. I am definitely making that rose, though. Another awesome video... keep them coming!!

Put a spring on the bit of the hole saw of appropriate length. The cuts will pop out

Pure brilliance as always. Love your different views and projects from the mainstream. Keep it up Josh!!! As for doing dumb things, I do the same. Although one tool this summer finally got me. An angle grinder with a cutoff wheel binded on an aluminum fence I was cutting up and it spun and cut up my bicep before o could even react. Luckily it jammed as it wound up my shirt from further damage. I’m trying to be a bit more careful since. 🤷🏻‍♂️

😬 ouch. I'm very grateful to not have had any serious accidents but I also have had a close call with an angle grinder. A few years ago, when I first started woodworking, Flap disc cut me to the bone on my pointer finger. Definitely have had a healthy fear of angle grinders since.

Brilliant, Josh! Love the roses! Is there a reason you didn't just turn the vases once you had them glued up?
@JoshWrightWoodworking
@JoshWrightWoodworking 4 месяца назад
Thanks billy! Dont have a good reason for not turning the vases on the lathe, just thought a no lathe vase would be a fun challenge. The lathe would have been much faster and easier but sometimes my experiments get in the way of the actual projects lol.

Low temp Hotmelt glue sticks ARE available
@JoshWrightWoodworking
@JoshWrightWoodworking 4 месяца назад
Thanks, but wouldn't low temp glue sticks just melt easier? I think I need glue sticks that are more resistant to heat, so the bits of glue don't glob together so easily. Either way, I'll try it out, thanks!
