Love is in the air. Or maybe it's just hay fever. Why do we call it that? Who was this 'Valentine'?

Hi Phil, I listen to your narrated librivox stories repeatedly and I only just discovered this channel. I wanted to express my deep and sincere gratitude for your work- your voice has been part of the soundtrack of my life for years. Thank you. I am sorry to hear of your wife’s passing.

My great nephew (12 years old) has a girlfriend at school in his friend group. I told him girls need presents on Valentines day. Took him to store. He bought a Whitman's sampler, small stuffed animal and a card. I told him he would be envied by the girls and hated for the boys in his friend group because he gave great presents. He laughed. On a somber note, I am sorry for your loss.

I still send cards. In my humble opinion, taking the time to travel to a card store, selecting a special card, writing a special greeting, sealing it, applying postage and possibly a trip to the post office is more meaningful than taking a split second of ones time to send an emoji. Receiving a card gives me a feeling that someone else cares enough to take the time and trouble to show they care. I guess this is the result of just finding and reading all the "Get Well Cards" from my hospitalization in 2020. I am of course, lucky enough to have survived and continue to send others my well wishes during the year. Take care Phil Regards Tom Heckhaus

Ah so true Tom, so true. The gift of time is what shows caring more than anything else. I'm glad someone still takes the trouble to select just the right card and send it to those we love. Those days were indeed nice.
