It was such a joy and relief to hear this humble woman of God speak of the same struggles of motherhood and disciplining in this day and age, trying to being authoritative while having a soft heart. I am encouraged. Thank you Valerie and thank you to the mother who raised you whom I also adore, thank you Lord, Amen.
'Teaching our children respect & obedience...' that is something we weren't able to successfully inculcate in our son although we tried. If you are led to, *please* pray🙏for our son, Joshua. 💔
How old is Joshua? Have you and your husband (especially your husband, but also especially who has "made the most mistakes with him") ever gone together as a family, sat down lovingly, and confessed the things you have done wrong as parents, asked his forgiveness whether he wants to give it or not, and then explained and discussed how you are going to do things the Lord's way going forward? I'd also suggest starting with the Gospel to help explain that even parents are fallible and that you are apologizing because Christ has forgiven you all for sin. Be blessed :)
@@HotelCharliHill wise words! The short of it is yes! We hv as a family come to our son and confessed our shortcomings and our failures We hv asked for his forgiveness and he has been open to it. Our son is under 20 years old and has now joined the service. We are pressing forward and asking the Father to show him the way. We are all a work in progress! Thank you for taking the time to write! :)
That story about the yogurt dispute was so precious because she brought such a pitiful thing before the Lord rather than just exercising her own fallen will over the children. And to ask forgiveness for making a mess of the coin flip, and for doing the coin flip without properly knowing how to do it... May we all be so meek and humble, especially with our relationships.
Elisabeth was such an influence to me as a young woman, and as a new believer in 1981. My own mother had passed away when I was 14 before I was aware of how very much I needed her guidance and training. Like Janet Wismer said, I too wrote Elisabeth around the age of 24, presenting her with my current romantic dilemma, needing her sound wisdom and advice. She wrote me back, and it blessed me so much she would respond. What she and I had in common was the deepest song that our soul's sang... a pure, deep love for Jesus. It is a joyous feeling to know, that when I reach heaven's world, my elder sisters will be there to enjoy. Elisabeth Eliot, Corrie ten Boom, Ann Kiemel Anderson... To God be the Glory.
Your an amazing and beautiful person-just like your mother. Thank you so much for spreading the Word of the Lord with us dear sister. It’s faithful people like you that help me have faith by hearing. May God bless you richly.
Lovely message. Thank you. Yes the isrealites kept the 4th commandment in keeping the Sabbath... So they collected mana on Friday... And so it remained fresh till Sunday morning
🕯️🎀 Thank you for your message. I'm so inspired that you forgave through your mother's tough times. My qoute -God understands everything, we understand God. ☁️🕊️ God bless
Such encouraging words and wisdom from her as she shares God's true word about the state of all people.. Rom 3:23...All have sinned... many are still blinded by the fact that young & old are dead in trespasses & sins until the Holy Spirit draws us to Christ and breathes Life into our dead sinful souls. She is a mature and strong servant of our Lord to recognize Christ came for sinners...< we are the one who need a Savior..the ones that deny they are sinners do not know the true & living God. ..A dead person cannot even open their hand to receive salvation God offers through Jesus. .The Spirit of God has to quicken our souls and give us the faith to accept unmerited Eternal Life. ( no room for boasting) )THAT is truly the Gospel of good news... Elizabeth Elliot has been a woman of God through the ages and a mentor to many....in the faith...
I am not a mother yet, though I ask my self why parents are so hurry to teach their kids how to be slanderers and not loving others, since the fallen world will teach them more as they grow older. They born human and sinful but it seems quite difficult for parents to see this and to work work hard on showing the way to God, with prayer. Thank you for stressing on who we are in general and on the way that our children should be seen. God bless.
I know that this is an old presentation but, I'm now viewing it. Exod.16th chapter clearly proves that the 7th day (now obviously Saturday! If Sunday is RESURRECTION Sunday, first day of the week; when Easter comes around!!!) Also in Matt. 28: 1, makes it clear which is the first day of the week. And all records prove that time has changed. May we listen to God's voice saying "this is the way, walk ye in it." God bless.
The only part she made a mistake with, is the Sabbath was and still is, Saturday. They Israelites gathered the double portion on Fridays and were not to collect any on Saturday.
@@susanbloise6287 I didn't say she was, and I am not seventh day Adventist either. I am a follower of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) that has been led back to Biblical Hebraic roots. The Sabbath didn't change after Yeshua was resurrected.
We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are born sinners as descendants of Adam who committed the first sin and passed that trait down to All humans. God told Adam that if he ate from that tree of the knowledge of Good and evil, that he had commanded him not to eat from, he would surely die. Adam did not physically die, but his spirit within died (like a battery does) and when we are born, our spirit needs the power from above to bring our spirit back to life again. That new life from above only comes when we believe with all our heart the gospel of God's grace which is found in 1st Corinthians 15 1-4.
I thought Elisabeth was his wife. Why does she look so young? You know he died in the 50s not the 90s right? Is this lady being honest???? Something is FISHY!! 🤨🤔😮😒 I cant figure this out! 😖☹😰
@@the.imprint Yes, Elisabeth was Jim Elliot's wife. Elisabeth Elliot had a daughter named Valerie--and Valerie had a daughter that she named Elisabeth (after her grandmother)--and that granddaughter, Elisabeth Shepard, was also at the conference.
she is sweet and sincere... but the calvinism is barf worthy. her children are GIFTS from God.. not sinfull creatures. Jesus was not about this at all. Soooo sorry for her forced calivinism. Christ have mercy.
