Love finding talent on RU-vid to add to my joy. Dread locked Country Singer, fantastic........she sounds like Loretta Lynn, Bob Dylan and Erykah Badu all wrapped up in one.
This is my first time seeing you and I'm going to pick this one right now for my favorite song sung by you but I know when I hear some more they'll be a lot of other favours you got a very nice voice lady.
Awesome just Awesome I love this Gorgeous very talented lovely Lady!!❤ Also very SMART!!!.. Saw her mother also You can identify the Tree from its branch! GOD BLESS
Voice/Instrument? Instrument/Voice? Her voice soars. I subscribe to Smithsonian Folkways if a anyone is interested. That voice is from a deep heart. Thank you Valerie June.
PWobble Pleeze this woman is a folk singer and very good. Blind Willie is nothing like this. The Blues is the Blues....Everything just cant fit into the Blues. Why not just enjoy this talented woman for the folk tune that she is playng and singing...???
Garland Floyd Exactly. It's not like "f*lk" is the 'f-word' of music! It's just not the Blues. I think PWobble might be saying they have similar ancestry, but I don't buy any other argument.
I have just recently listened to your songs, your singing sounds screechy & flat, but you know what I don't care, you made me smile & laugh & strange as it may be I look forward to hearing more.
At first, I was like "who the fuck is that." (negatively) Then I was like "who the fuck is this." (Positively ). Her voice is nuts. I think she smokes that Ganga.. But that's cool though.
For someone from Tennessee (the deep south) , I would expect a more soulful voice but this is way too high pitched imo. I think Sister Ola Mae was an influence on her though. If you think this is good check her out too.
It's not a pop voice. She is coming out of a tradition that is much older. It is an honest and pure style. If you look at her interviews, you can find out who her influences are. That will give you context. And she is truly a brilliant song writer.
Funny, I'm sitting in the laundry, reading Southern Living and there is an article about this woman who I have seen in Brooklyn. I decided to listen to her song "Workin Woman." I must say I was very impressed. I will seek out other songs from Valerie June.
I agree, she's beautiful in every way and comes across as a very humble person. I love her voice and songs, absolutely stunning and not to mention her fabulous hair.
