I agree! I LOVE the freedom of the building aspect in the game, but will refuse to utilize "God Mode" for the sake of creativity. I've only just recently progressed to the Swamps. I look forward to the options available for better builds. Awesome job with the Swamp build! I look forward to seeing more of your creativity!!!
As someone who dislikes the swamps, I don't see any good reason to stay there. I personally prefer the plains and meadows for setting up shop. However, the build is really good and fits the vibe of the area rather well. Nice job!
I was thinking the very same thing, its horrible, everything can kick your butt, except the skeletons, if you don't have decent food and its not very well lit. I'm starting a second playthrough and my philosophy is no portals and live in every biome (at least where the boss is), this means setting up shop and not leaving each one until the boss is beaten twice (one head for the stones and one for my wall).
@@leonrobinson2053 I play with a friend on a private server. We kill the bosses 3 times for the same reason. One to sacrifice to the stones and one for our own display. (He created a side server so he could process his spoils. He does not progress his server)
Love this design, great intro and recording skills. Top notch production value. I like the fact that you don't fly around in creative mode but instead use ladders and hops to get around. Makes it more realistic and shows off your skills too :)
It is always funny how at the start of every video you cruise up in the longboat like an O.G. and right away start building! And that to me is always hilarious in a way. It's also like you build a bigger bader Crypt in the Swamp. But you know your like a badass when you actually make your main base also in the swamp of all places.
@@randalstilskin5266 It just depends a bit on the swamp how many leeches there are attacking you. I've had swamps that were a bloody nightmare to enter, and swamps that were just darker versions of meadows.
The mobs have been pretty weird with this build, they instantly ran for any torches outside the base but seem to not be to keen on the stone/iron. Although they do sometimes attack it.
never used god mode before but im always tempted to just use cheats and create amazing builds as i see other content creators do but watching this inspires me to not back down and continue being a true viking and build only with my own resources and fighting off mobs in process. i haven't created any great builds except my main base yet but thanks for sharing this! my goal is to make a base or just small outposts in each biome, i thought swamp and mistlands gonna be the most challenging
Why not? Just use it to build. Make a build world. People are so weird thinking qol, commands or the such is cheating smh. NO one's gonna give you a prize if you don't use creative mode smh.
@@anthonyzullo if I would want a build just for showing off I would use "creative" mode of course, but since I'm gonna live in this place I don't think it's fair for a survival mode. Why is this weird? If you build something with cheats and live in it, where is the charm? The feeling that you accomplished something? It's just too easy
After I built a Surtling farm and started to plant birches, I no longer need to spare portals. So, I have 3 main bases with comfort, cooking facilities and storage. All the rest, including all my bases located in the swamp are but outposts to protect a portal and arks to temporarily store goods. In the swamp I like to build atop the crypts, where the mobs usually don't reach much. Some wall to take the initial damage and voilà... I just hate the inability to teleport metal, forcing me to either sail and shipwreck often or plod along perilous roads getting attacked by zillions of mobs.
@@NotGeralt Probably a similar problem to what a lot of minecraft builds have where unless you go really large its hard to build out of "squares" and not make it look square. They need to give us some angled and curved pieces to work with in the game!
Love the build/video! Only (mild) complaint: Since it's pretty clear you're building in Creative mode, it would have been nice (and something to think about going forward), to set the TOD for Noon, so we can actually *SEE* all that goodness being built. :) Otherwise, fantastic build. I'm looking forward to building a decent Swamp base of my own, and this definitely gives me some good ideas.
Its all good until abomination came. I'm surprised that it never appeared in progress. Me with friend got 2 abominations after 5 minutes of our arrival >_
How the hell not? Stone can travel through portals, and you don't actually lack that. I got this much stone as a by product of mining silver in the mountains.
