Just a tip here that's worth noting about the bronze armour: If you are using a bow and kiting around consider equipping instead the Troll Hide Armour. This is true of any fight where kiting is possible. Bronze armour slows your movement speed. The point of kiting is to stay at range and avoid getting hit. The last thing you need is a movement penalty. That 10% may not seem much but it's significant. You especially notice this when out of stamina so trying to get some distance between you and a mob. It WILL catch you if attempting to flee the scene in Bronze gear.
@@sovietsid9452 - Literally doesn't matter man. Just use the Eikthyr power which gives you more jump and run speed. If it's your first Elder fight, you'll most probably have this power equipped.
Love watching these after I have already fought the boss just to see how much easier of a time I would have had. I was doing fine in a 1v1 with it until a horde of greydwarf's and a troll showed up. Was pretty much running around shooting the occasional arrow at the elder until it died for about 1/3rd of the battle at the end.
Zig-zagging to catch the wind while sailing is called tacking. I was pretty excited to see that this was a thing in game, as this is how real-world sailing works. I grew up on a lake that was PERFECT for sailing to the south-east. 10 minutes to go four miles or so. And then the rest of the day to get back home.
No need for the fires or anything like that, and honestly a bow isn't necessary and slows down an already long fight. You do want to fight him at the summon spot. Make sure you get behind a pillar until he comes to you after being summoned. Get close so he stomps, dodge the stomp, then get in some hits depending on how much stamina you have left. I suggest using a bronze sword. As soon as he summons the roots, (wait until they actually appear as they are proximity based so if you run right away, you'll bring them with you) run to the pillar across from you. Hide there until he comes over your way (destroying all the roots in the process), then run out, dodge the initial stomp, get in your swings, rinse and repeat. Super easy method. I literally just tested it before posting this so I know it works and he still behaves this way. Unless a root gets in a lucky swing, you shouldn't even take any damage this way. I was only hit twice, both of which were lucky root swings and didn't do much at all. Happy Hunting!
When I killed him I just moved pillar to pillar. Roots never touched me as I moved when he summoned them.. and his vines got blocked by the pillar. Never got close enough to stomp me.. works well assuming you want to use range.
Lol yesterday after watching your video I tried looking for my first dungeon. When I entered it "Troll Cave" and I was like wait he never said their was a troll cave XD
If you want to travel into the wind on the raft, pull up the sail and use the rudder exclusively which happens automatically, you just have to steer left and right. The rudder becomes like a paddle to propel you. The place where you see the sail icon is replaced with a picture of a rudder being rocked left and right. So it's essentially like an oar.
I actually thought one of his abilities was to summon Greydwarfs and Greylings and Shamans and stuff as minions, because when I played it I had a growing wave of like 100 of them chasing me through every corner. I guess it's just because my brilliant mind decided to fight him during night time and I wondered actually pretty far from the center of it all.
They possibly had Greydwarf nest where they spawned from . You still play the game ? For me i ran from fight 2 times because i run out of arows , and when i came back after 45 min with potions and everything Elder was Afk and i used opportunity and slayed him .
This is super helpful. I've been having a hell of a time trying to even find the Elder place. Mine looks to be in the swampland area which is so toxic, i've died numerous times just trying to reach it.
To your first way of cheesing it I have a better version of it, use the copper pickaxe and actually create a tunnel with 2 ends, come from one side, shoot an arrow at it and run to the other side and repeat, if it takes too much time you can put a crafting table in the tunnel and a bonfire to recover health and repair the bow quickly. YES, this method will take you a few minutes, but I recommend it since being stuck in a tiny hole won't work much. Making a tunnel with 2 ends would be the safest way.
@@MrShnazer Same Technique as the trolls, lure him to where you have trees and boulders and the boss will destroy them trying to kill you and you can reap the materials after the boss is downed
I died in the middle of he ocean with my karve yesterday and spent 45 minutes sailing back to that spot in a raft. That ride would’ve been 10 tops with the karve.
Love the guides have helped a bunch!! The first boss he glitches and got stuck easily killed with fire arrows! Bad part went into a burial chamber and got killed they do respond in the chambers can't run back and get your gear!! Thanks again! 😊
I found he was really easy with just fire arrows and keep moving. Use the pillars for cover and just run when he does roots. Just make sure to upgrade your Bow so you have enough condition to get thru it.
Tacking in Zig Zag with a ~30 degree angle against the wind is how you do it in real life with modern boats to sail against the direction of the wind. However, the Vikings did not have the technology for that. Their sails could only catch wind coming from the aft and theoretically up to 90 degrees on both sides (to varying efficiency). I guess they didn't do that in the game because no one cares for that much realism and it would hinder a lot of the sailing in the game.
I tried laying out campfires and The Elder just walked into the water and stood there. Fight lasted 3 in game days and we had to teleport back to base to make more arrows.
Keep ‘em coming, Danny. Because of the streams, I am 3 bosses deep in knowledge without ever having played this myself (console player). In my last tweet I realized I mentioned Siev’s sweet Castle set up, but I had also meant to compliment you & your friends on the Longhouse & base you made. Loved the design, even though it kinda messed with the bed situation. 😁 I expect you may either convert it, or add on with more buildings, in stone, now that you’ve unlocked those building recipes. Oh & I hope you do a video on how portals work in this game. I get a bit confused with you changing their assignment when going to different locations. Thank you, man!
I was in the black forest close to my spawn and all my different camps and goods. In a crypt in the black forest it showed me where the elder boss is. clear across like 3 oceans and the entire map. I havent even made a smelter yet. smh.
@@dhisanamincheri4830 I didn't say you could. If you have a bronze buckler and full bronze with halfway decent food, you'll live long enough to heal if you block their attack. You'll still take damage, but they wont kill you if you atleast block on food.
I've been following all your vids from Skyrim to this awesome game, I got it from watching your first one and have been following all your tips. Thankyou so much for your help and tips, would've been lost without them. 😉🤟👍
@@lemon_boy5246 I found it but every time i go to mine copper, i get attacked by 6 or more greydwarf's. They seem to show up in droves. They just spawn in wherever i am not looking. Pita
Just a tactic I use when fighting any of the so=pawn mobs, I kite them around the spawn node and keep shooting the node until it's gone then I focus on the mobs.Great videos they help me a lot.
The flame arrows take a lot of time IMO. I just got close to him, blocked his stomps and hack slashed him. It's much quicker if you have an upgraded bronze sword though. Also, thank you so much for your guides, they are precise and exact. Carry on mate. Cheers!
ancient seeds also drop from brutes and rarely from chests, so if you want to keep a greyling nest as a farm for eyes, and train your skills earlygame, you will also eventually get your seeds. then you already have your eyes for later. Time -saver win win.
Melee works well. Parry or block the footstomp then counter. He'll summon those vines every so often you just kill the ones next to you and that's about it.
You can put the sail up and use your “oars” it’s the first little forward bar. I figured that out the hard way, it’s not super fast but it works better than zig zagging, eventually the wind will shift in your favor.
Just started playing yesterday after about an hour of gameplay repeatedly thought to myself “am I missing something?” Then watched some videos and realized, nah this is just the starting pace lmao! But I like it a lot it’s pretty fun.
"one is an exploit, the other is legit" In times of rage and anger, an exploit fight is just as serotonin as a legit fight, fact that's how i killed most the trolls i come across, exploiting the terrain.
Quick note: the greydwarf spawners are susceptible to fire, so using fire arrows from a distance is an easy way to destroy the spawners BEFORE you start fighting the creatures. There's a rune stone that mentions this, I believe.
@@exemida I've played over 450 hours and I don't think I've ever seen a 2 star brute. 1 star, sure, plenty of times. Also find that fire arrows work well. Or parry, attack, parry, attack, etc. Can't attack more than 1 without getting hit back though.
When me and my 3 friends tried this, we got him to a quarter HP and then he spam summoned trolls and greylings, we had about 3 trolls and 30 greydwarfs chasing us around so we had to retreat.
Amazing how the first boss was so easy and the second one was 10x harder. The game be telling you that the tutorial is over and now you have to face real challenges.
I killed the 1st boss very early on with the shitty bow, 2nd boss was even easier since he dosn't chase you far from the arena & you can just snipe him from afar.
@@rolanddelasse8585 really the best is just use the pillars, especially if you are solo or with a group that are around the same tech as you are. It's not that bad really, I feel the 3rd boss is much harder than this one. Just need to focus much on ranged then melee. Fire arrows work in a way, but again, if it rains ( half the time it does in my seed) it won't be as effective as you want it to be. Take your time fighting the boss and watch your surroundings. In fact, use the hoe to clear the area and make sure u have a running track around the pillars. Craft a work bench with the necessary cover to help with repairs for a lengthy battle. Hell, in a pinch, you can use wood arrows just so you can finish him off. This tip can be used for all the bosses in the game, I find that it's how you want to approach the fights that matter.
@@RaZeyLWindBladE I fought him with 2 friends and won yesterday, pretty easy as long as you're covered by pillars. Scared about the third boss though lol
Don't know if I botched my preparations or if they patched it but the "cheese hole" tactic didn't work for me as the vines and roots could reach down where I was.
A note on sailing, the first speed is paddling using the tiller and rudder. You can "sail" into a head wind with this, but on the raft it is so god awful slow. I mean honestly skip the raft entirely, its to slow even with a tail wind and full sail. Really shouldn't be leaving your island before "bronze age" anyways. So just wait and make the Karve as it is massively better than the raft. Its speed is much better even in a head wind and has 4 cargo slots. HP wise the karve was at about 1/2 HP after taking 3-4 attacks from a sea serpent and a little storm dmg.
All you have to do is fight like a true warrior. Stop copying silly guides to make things easier for you. Beat this guy with a bow, and all you have to do is use the 4 pillars as coverage. When he gets close to your pillar, run to the other. When he spawns his roots then run out of its boundaries. Bosses have a pattern.
Two additional DATA be careful: - at easy mode kill if you don't dig ENOUGH DEEPLY under the stone... he can actually reach you with his feet stumpings and damage you - he actually CAN summon these naughty agressive roots IN YOUR DUG OUT HOLE, next to you... well at least one or two... Personally tested. :)
I got lucky, one of my Elder altars was on an island separated only by a river to my starting island, which is great because I suck at sailing. I just walked all the way there, swam across the river and then set up a portal nearby for easy return for when I died, which I did... 2 times; once by a Troll who invited himself to the party, and once by the Elder itself.)
You can also find Burial Chambers in the Black Forest that seem inaccessible because the entrance is covered over by stones. Just use the bronze axe to clear the entrance then go in. I'm not sure if you can get into all the underground burial chambers with obstructed by stone as I've only found one of them blocked this way.
Thanks for doing the legit way I summoned him thinking I'd own him since the deer was so easy and died after getting caught by the ranged attack he was still there when I went to get my stuff 😳
So that digging exploit seems to be patched lol! He was hitting me with his stomps when I was near the hole and some of the roots spawned in the hole with me. Had to get out and fight him with arrows until I ran out, then had to melee him to death which I couldn’t figure out how to block/jump from his stomp attack lol.
Tried the camp fire trick, but the developers must have patched it, because the fire pits didn't do anything thing to the tree guy. In fact I had a couple of the tree vine guy spawn underground too.
So I tried to cheese him...let me tell you how my night went.. 1) Setup the camp fires, took out a nearby spawner 2) summoned boss 3) it rained 4) made hole too big 5) several level 2 greydwarves came to investigate during fight 6) they dropped into the hole with me 7) killed me underground during boss fight 8) proceeded to go around and wreck all my campfires while boss was rampaging
My starting island was so big the elder altar was on it haven’t fought the 4th yet but wouldn’t be surprised if it was on there too I still have a lot to explore I’ve only ran around it but it took at least 8 in game days to outline the island
I wish your videos were in order, I can’t work out which one is next. Can anybody advise which is the best one of his videos to watch after completing the 2nd boss please?
Highly recommend not destroying the greydwarf spawn points and instead just farm the greydwarfs instead. They don’t come back when destroyed and they are an “easy” way to farm supplies and exp
