Valiasr is one of the most populous and prestigious neighborhoods in Tabriz, established before the Iranian Islamic Revolution. The founder of this neighborhood, Haj Morteza Rahimzadeh Khoyi, was a prominent landowner from Khoy in West Azerbaijan Province. Originally known as Vali-e Ahd, the neighborhood was renamed Valiasr after the revolution.
