This takes me back to when FEH was first revealed with Validar's art being showcased for the game. It took them over 7 years later to finally add him into the game. OVER 7 YEARS!!!
Despite the weird gen 1 base kit he has going, his weapon and stat allocations are still amazing, definitely gonna +10 him. I also couldn't help but laugh that the only reason not to invest is having too many mage nukes, that just gave me more of a reason to invest.
Personally won’t be building him myself cause I got my fair share of red mages just from grails (Zephia, Julius, Iago especially, Groom Robin), but man what a way to begin the new book. Here’s to hoping we’ll get some really good F2P units that can even contend with the modern meta speed and bulk
What a way to start book 8 with an insaneely good red mage unit. Solely relies on True Damage as his firepower to nuke his enemies. The only downside is that there's no DR piercing when against a solo enemy despite having the debuffs.
Gonna +10 him for sure, his true damage and the debuffs and status effects he inflicts is incredible. Also, I like how the only reason not to invest is because of already having many mage nukes when I always find there is room for more. Always gotta keep options open for new potential teams.
Man, feels like Awakening gets some serious preferential treatment when it comes to its baddies. Aversa was great for her time, Gangrel was solid, Walmart got a sick refine, and who could forget Yen’Fey? Very pleased on the whole!
Really sorry for the delay on them. I have Adult ADHD and I have been having trouble with meds so it has knocked me off my schedule. I plan on making Ninja Banner + Saizo Review and I will be uploading them this month (likely before the trailer of the Legendary unit this month). Ty for your understanding!
Reason not to invest is having too many mage nukes huh? Yeah, that's not a problem, there's always room for more mage nukes, especially if they're free.
I view it as mix of a trolling and draw back The trolling from how his kit reflect early feh when he was showcased in feh announcement and of course the drawback of having a strong prf and good statline players will have to work harder to build up SP
It's weird too cuz normally they tend to give the good Grail Units unique fodder to cause an opportunity cost when merging them. (Lumera, Jeralt, S!M!Shez)
Ain't no way Validar would have gotten a prf this powerful if he was actually a gen 1 GHB, so the wait definitely paid off there, even though IS seemed to have forgotten to update his passive skills.
As someone who collects and builds (if possible) every Awakening unit, Validar being this good was pretty motivating for me. This patch I finally used some of the fodder I had been hoarding for months if not years. As for the build, I went for a Stiill Water/Ploy but as I lacked any Tempo 4 or Magic NFU, chose Mystic Boost 4. It's bonkers how he reaches those numbers.
I wonder if the Gen 1 base kit (Except the weapon) was because he was planned to be released much earlier? Either way kind of surprised the art and his weapon go so hard.
With so many sources of negative status effects, this is going to be massive true damage. Especially during Aether Raids, when the defensive team just has to have units near each other. You've got only 12 spots to put in six units. That means each defensive unit has at least units within 2 tiles (the exception being the units at the end). But probably more because most players have their defensive team with allies actually adjacent.
From what I can gather, while he’s no Black Knight, Validar seems to be one of the more popular villains in the franchise so I’m happy that they did him justice for all his fans - he seems really good!
Besides his weird base kit, he is pretty fun! Not having a cap on his true damage is crazy, especially without how many more new negative status effects we have gotten just this year. I think I'll just keep him for budget use since I've quite a few merge projects going on right now.
You do not see everyday PM1 talking about one unit that good. Wow, Validar is awesome! I was going to merge him but now I am going to invest a lot on him because I even do not have so many mage nukes so... there are so many reasons to build him and I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY BECAUSE HE IS SO COOL. I have been waiting so much SORRY ZEPHIA, HE IS COOLER
Something to also mention is that unity is a big weakness of Validar, the difference between getting one shot and surviving with a good amount of HP. Also due to his low spd be careful of Duo Marth teams since hes gonna get nuked before he can even attack unless you have flash effect or hardy bearing on him
Oh he doesn't have any super boons? Dang, I was having a feeling there was probably a catch for him being a min maxed GHB unit. Still tempted to build him since I still don't have a red mage infantry but kinda sad he doesn't have any superboons.
1. No, Validar can already reach 185 bst with +Res or +Atk IV. So using R Duel Inf 4 is not a valid choice (since Tier 4 Duel only score as high as 180 bst). 2. Validar is a great Arena scoring unit, having him ok Arena as a debuffer and a red mage nuke. I hope this helps!
If Freyr can cleanse his debuffs, wouldnt that only matter for the enemy phase? Freyr cleanses at start of his turn, so when its yours the penalties are active on foes right?
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Nergal still isn't in FEH, even after 7 years and he's way more popular than half of the villains we have been getting as red mage GHBs. Out of all the Fire Emblem titles that have their main villains, Blazing Blade is the only one that doesn't have theirs.
