i see the ball spit out when airing up the marker… the 1/8” rubber washers from harware store cut into detent is running strong. have put over 400-500 rounds through and have not spit a single ball airing up and when taking out to inspect the rubber detent shows no sign of wear. i recommend it.
Yeah that was a first in a while and thats why i call my fix a hack. Dually noted. If people read the comments they will find your input is much appreciated.
When does our course certificate arrive? I've already registered for 201. 😉 Thank you again, for taking the time to share your knowledge and insight. Thorough and thoughtful, as always.
Way to start my morning! Great vid brother! I think I'm going to stick with the v1 bypass and maybe an 800psi output bottle. Will you please to a complete comprehensive vid on maintenance for those of us(me) who are new to this marker and may not know how? Thanks for all you do for the community 🙏🏾 💥💥💥
The only maintenance really required i did cover in the first video. As i put my marker through its paces now I will update with any maintenance items that pop up ie. loose bolt and guide pin. Those are really the only issues that should arise.
You just help me finalize my decision on getting a Valken m17, thank you for your service buddy. Also Ima give you a follow 👍🏽 keep up the great work haha you must have a husky with all that dog hair
You would think they were Huskies with the amount of hair i find everywhere. They are just some short hair freaks….times 4! Glad the videos helped. Any questions/problems feel free to ask.
@@lesslethalfordummies I went with the more affordable approach and got the CQMF instead haha first big tank co2 rifle ever, maybe my next purchase! I own 3 TRCs already 2 by Byrna and 1 from Tippmann. Valken gotta be the most worth it by far. Keep up the great work 🙏🏽
@@lesslethalfordummies Got a slight problem Sean. While attempting to remove the brass cap on version 2 reg delete I sheared it clean off,😖 any ideas of how to get the remainder out 🙏
Listen Sean is so right on with this video..honestly 👏 🙌 👌 if you are new and just getting into the less lethal community and you are interested into the science behind the less lethal options follow him...
Sometimes they get a little crazy with thread locker. It just cosmetic as you said where the wrench flats are but i know the feeling. I hate doing stuff like that even with the right tool. I scratched up the shiny silver end piece of the chamber in one of my videos but was able to sand the plier marks out 😮💨
Hey Sean. I watched all the videos. Learned so much about the Marker and how it works. I saw another video where after he removed the V2 Brass fitting , he drilled the opening bigger in the polymer body. Wondering if that makes a big difference ? I am leaning towards just doing a V1 Mod , and whstever else you did, when you tested with the 88 Gram Co2 and keeping it simple. I need to pick your brain on how to attach the C02 with a short remote line and mount the bottle on top. Have to order the marker , and avoid my wife , lol Recently ordered pre modified Hdx68 and HDR68 so she thinks I am nuts !! The CQMF looks easier to mod than umerex, especially now after your detailed videos
Do not drill your regulator. No matter how easy it looks if you are not prepared to troubleshoot issues it will cause nothing but headaches. Yes it does give more power but save your money for one of the new heatcores so the original can be your fail safe. V1 is a good start but even better is to just tune the stock regulator so you can understand how the launcher is supposed to operate.
@@lesslethalfordummies Thanks. I just ordered my CQMF. Could not resist the $189 price on Rockstar. !! What are you referring to regarding the new “heat Core” ??
Thanks for all your videos I just finished V2 it fires so I guess I got it right I did need to use two crescent wrenches to get the bolt apart I used polyimide Tape on the jaws to prevent scratches almost forgot I also did that little trick with the detent I also have quite a few FSC detents they suck in my pistol but it defiantly made the M17 detent better
Thanks alot for these videos Sean, it's been so educational. If you did bypass version 1 n 2, kept the outward pressure fairly low so you shooting around 40 j. If you upgraded the bolt spring, would that then make the marker durable and reliable or could you still run into some hickups?
Bolt spring is one thing i would do regardless. It seems to be the cause of most issues. Shimmed sear or upgraded sear spring is next. Bypass v2 and standard bottle pressure should be around 40j and would be easy on the marker in the long term. Oh yeah and detent upgrade to will stop balls from falling out the end.
@lesslethalfordummies I'v ordered all those springs, now just need to figure how to install em 😆 except the bolt, that looks streight forward. is there a video on that or know of any that you could link me to?
@garethdimmick5985 absolutely. Trigger group spring install is included in the video. LL4D Valken M17 - HomeDefence-24 full installation/rebuild ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CERK6lSjuas.html
I was surprised that you weren't pissed to have done the whole series with a new bottle ;-))) Great great video as always, especially the last part, so interesting to see what happens with a good tank and reg. Just one question (sorry I didn't"t have the time to browse and see all your videos), do we do basically the same mods on a CQMF? Again, great job, huge thanks for this series!
Oh trust me the thought crossed my mind to redo everything with a good bottle. Yes the Cqmf is identical procedure although getting to the detent is a lot more involved.
As per the series I am only running 3 bumpers and the bypass as is to see if and when i need to add bumpers and trigger springs. At only 800-900psi i dont expect i will need the same upgrades as someone running 1100. Running 800 is easier on the marker and 40j is very much at the higher end of the less lethal spectrum. While i do enjoy projectiles flying through steel and other inanimate objects 60+ could easily be more lethal.
And about your carpal tunnel syndrome, you really should get a surgery, I just did my two wrist, it's really nothing, and it's such a relief when it's done !
"White jissum" 🤣 Youu're obviously missing your Gog on the M17. That FS tank & reg was consistent. Hmmm. Been trying to avoid this one, but i am tempted. Might have to watch your other M17 vides. Damn you Kempter! Did you try FA with 800 PSI? Or is FA not possible?
FA could make a good follow up video. You are so right about my gog. I just didnt follow my gut this time and i was wrong. But but but a fellow subscriber Kevin Heyman had issues with his gog cutting +70 fps over a shot string. Problems can still occur in what I perceive as fool proof.
A video on FA at these levels (AKA " Giggle switch), and it's potentials/ limitations would make a great video! My Valken ultra ASA didn't give any issues on SA - unlike the GOG. I'm waiting on a replacement GOG to make sure it wasn't a lemon. Will update when I can... ~edit~ That said... My GOG had serious flow-rate issues, after careful study/testing. Maybe a one-off, or made on a Friday? lol But as Sean implied, these things can be quite various from one to another, and different from the "norm", under various circumstances/setups. Slighty lower velocities with FA - MAY be desirable under certain circumstances for LL. I love that we can ponder these questions as a community.
@Kevin Heyman Mag springs just arrived! I like the Valken Ultra, myself. I like the bleed-off. I use them on my fill setups and tank output gauge rigs, too. Sometimes, they get a little hard to remove from the ASA after I remove the tank, as there isn't much to grab. (My knuckles don't always play nice.) Same goes for the on/off collar- tight against the reg. body. Tired of rags and wrenches, so I've made a little wrench for them If this happens to you too- I'll throw one in with the plugs and bushings. I'd also be into a little FA series.
Once again, good info. You helped us newbies tremendously. Roughly how many shots does the 10ci tank give you? Looking forward to seeing what you will do with the Byrna. Good luck.
Sorry i skipped that part because i was choked about the skewed data. At 800 the M17 will do a full mag full power and some. Bumping my bottle up to 850-900 could net higher fps for one full mag which i consider enough. Some marker are way more efficient but the m17 is what it is and a mag at less lethal power is adequate. The m17 does better suit a 13ci or one of those fancy 4500psi bottles. I am a minimalist.
sean i just watched all of the cideos and they are SO professionally done learned so much!!! we chatted earlier today from the facebook page. ps- where can i find a great barrel for higher velocity? which one do you recommend?? im ok w 9”
I wouldnt say professional 😂 but thank you. The Grimburg 9” is a great barrel without being too long otherwise depending on your projectiles there are some 14-16” barrels that will add quite a few fps. What projectiles are you using?
@@lesslethalfordummies i think the 9” would be perfect. where can i buy that? i am using hard pvc steel core riot balls 10 gram, i also have hard nylon 3 gram balls
Sean, can’t find an answer to my question anywhere. But I ordered my upgraded fps M17 main bolt springs weeks ago (patience running low lol). It’s the last mod needed and one I hope finally eliminates my full auto issue. Question: What size is the high fps main bolt upgraded spring?
Hello friend, I'm following this series of videos about the M17, regarding the bypass 1.0 and 2.0, do they make it cost more gas, or does it make it more economical?
Both use more air unfortunately. V1 being more efficient then V2 if you want to call it that. Any marker once the velocity is turned up it is going to use more air. The M17 wasnt good on air to begin with but it really boils down to what kind of numbers you deem reasonable as LL.
I understand, I've been having problems with my m17 because it's not being efficient and thus firing a few shots, I've done a complete overhaul on it and apparently the marker is ok, I'll check the cylinders and their output pressure, I'm using HPA and 280 fps but I can't get much more than 50 shots
How much more powerful is the m17 to My salvo do u think and what upgrades can I do like is that aluminum power tube worth buying for the 98s tippmanns
With little recent experience with the Salvo (98) platform it could be a 25j marker reliability with little effort. M17 with the same amount of work is 35-40 so its a matter of preference.
@Less Lethal for Dummies big thanks for the info saves me from testing and needing a chomogiraffe guess I'll just do damage tests or a full auto pepper ball launcher
@@SoLoCruizer one thing Tippmanns do well is pop off rounds quickly and effortlessly. A hopper full at 25j could be much more effective and more less lethal then a mag full of 35+. This is the kind of decision that is state law/country dependent should you ever have to use it.
@Less Lethal for Dummies Hi Sean! Running a bypassed m17 with a .684 Lapco barrel and during testing I've noticed the barrel tends to unscrew itself quite easily. I don't have another barrel, except for the stock one, so I probably won't be changing barrels back and forth and therefore I was thinking about blue loctiting it's threads in order to secure it properly. Do you think I should? Am I at risk of damaging the barrel? Your advise would be greatly appreciated.
I would advise against blue loctite in the barrel block. This is a common occurrence at high velocities. Try moving the oring over from the factory barrel to the Lapco. Failing that i have seen others throw a wrap of white teflon tape to keep it secure.
@@lesslethalfordummiesThanks for the advise Sean! I totally forgot there is an O-ring on the stock barrel I can use. And since I got your attention, let me ask you something else. I'm running a PMC magwell with trufeed extended mags. Is there a fix for the ball on deck situation? Or do I just need to accept that the last round is sacrificial? And btw, what's the safest way to remove that round? I usually just give my marker a solid shake and it eventually goes down the barrel, but you may know a better way.
@@truska3889 the oring will probably do the trick. Teflon tape is the white plumber’s tape used to seal threaded joints but also works well for air. Its super thin and sort of stretchy usually about 1/2” wide in a small roll. The ball on deck is a byproduct of the loading system and is an issue on almost all markers. The only cure would be an extended follower in the magazine which hasn’t come to fruition yet. The easiest way i find to get the ball out is bang the empty pmc magwell on your cupped hand. I personally dont run the extra ball detent that is installed in the pmc magwell.
@@lesslethalfordummies Is the extra ball detent you're mentioning that V shaped polymer "spring" that comes with the PMC magwell? That bit you place inside the magwell before installing it onto the marker?
@@truska3889 exactly. I just leave it out then balls will just fall out and you won’t have to bang it or fish it out. It doesnt effect the feed at all.
Hello my dear, I've done everything exactly the same way. Can I be sure that nothing will explode? Somehow I'm afraid to test it because I bought the m17 and immediately started the conversion Have made . But nothing should actually happen, right?
Hey, many thanks for the next vid. Can I just add new or modify a regulator to get more psi from a standard bottle 3000psi/200bar/60 bar/850psi output pressure? I still wonder if I should have a more resilient bottle to get more output pressure or just add better regulator (or modify the existing one) All the tanks out there has some regulators. Do I just need to swap those ones to the other to get more control on the output pressure or there's something more to this? Can you elaborate on how to tune the bottle regulator to 1100 psi? And can you tell me what is the best way to fill up those bottles home?
You can just swap out regulators. The Ninja 1100 Shp bottles come preset at 1100 and have 3 shims installed to reach this output so removing one shim at a time reduces the output in approximately 100psi increments. I dont recommend messing with the regulator unless you are absolutely comfortable because if the bottle was sold with no intention of high pressure altering it can be risky. I did do a video of altering a regulator that was never sold with the intention of higher pressure. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mTFHEVpskuE.html
@@lesslethalfordummies Thank you!Now I understand that :) I'll get the standard bottle and a new regulator later. Just wasn't sure if I should be looking for specific Ninja bottle, or I can get any other available in EU and then after I reach all that you showed in you series, go with a little more regarding the output pressure, bu swapping th regulator. What's the way to fill up those small bottles at home? I saw hand pumps for pcp guns, mother bottles? Compressors? Can you show how you fill up your bottles? Have a great day!
@@markklos The most inexpensive way is a pcp hand pump. Mother bottle is the second most inexpensive but you would still need someone to fill it up snd obviously compressor is top of the line. I have both a hand pump and compressor.
@@safeguarddefensemarker should only be aired with the safety engaged. Autofire can be a number of things. First i would check all the external body screws are tight. Then pull the heatcore and inspect the bolt. The two colored halves of the bolt should be tight. Also check the silver vertical guide pin is tight. If either is looose reset them with red loctite.
@@lesslethalfordummies I’m glad it wasn’t loaded at the time. Geez, I could’ve really learned a lesson in a worse way, lol. I’ll check the LL for those concerns you mentioned. I have the upgraded springs on the way. I’m curious, any firing concerns such as burst etc since you’ve installed them?
Was wondering if the first bypass needs to be done in order too do the v2? The v2 honestly seems straight forward and seem like it’s more reliable for power increase.
Honestly i never removed the orfice inside the air chamber and left the regulator intact. If you do try let me know. Bypass version 1.0 was to prevent people from blowing caps. Just doing version 2 leaves the door open to pop a cap if improperly adjusted.
@@lesslethalfordummies I’ve opened up the regulator on bb pistols before for more air pressure and got an extra 20-30 fps. From doing so I would imagine actually doing so on this platform would be similiar but I’m stuck on what less lethal marker too get honestly it’s like a tie between the m17 and the vks but for the price You can’t go wrong with the m17 do you know any other markers with similiar if not more power for the same price??
@@everythingdude4265 Vks is nice and powerful out of the box with a simple oring change but you pay the price. You can buy 2-3 M17 for the same price and have some fun modding it. The other markers in this category are the Fsc/Tcp, Umarex Hdb and some of there pistols as well with a little more modification like longer barrels and hpa. Its really up to your budget and know how which route you go.
@@lesslethalfordummies my budge is 650$ so I’m most likely gonna go with the m17 and just tuned it up I just like the power factor straight out of the box with the vks but it’s honestly at a ridiculous price and the m17 seems pretty powerful out of box as well but your videos are amazing bro the less lethal and air gun community needs people like you guiding the way 🙏💪💪
@@everythingdude4265 Appreciate that. The M17 can be as powerful as you want to make it with a little fun hobby time invested. Plus if you keep the power 30j reasonable it has full auto 🤪
@@lesslethalfordummies drill the brass not inside the chamber how much fps do you think will add right now the stock fps is 260 with pvc .68 jawbraker once i get 350fps i'm happy with it
It is something i thought of doing but its just as easy to remove the orfice itself with a 7mm socket. That nets about 10-15fps and is easily reversible. If i had to guess drilling it might net half that at 5-7fps? It would increase power but i cant tell you for certain or how much if any.
