3 also took place during the same war as 1 and 4. 2 is literally the only one that covers a different conflict. When they make 5, I want an actual sequel, one that isn't in a school. There was a LP of 3 on Something Awful which may or may not be on the LPArchive, it's significantly better than 2.
VC 2 was more forgiving because your team would just get hospitalized.. Granted they were crazy difficulty spikes in that one and not being able to save as regularly
I'm really glad the Two Valkyria DLC mission was locked to the post game because the entire story would have been a joke if I could have had Selvaria solo everything. A tad bit of a shame that we couldn't upgrade Welkin's Edelweiss but it at least seems to get stronger as you progress.
Great review! This game is next on my list once I finish Yakuza Kiwami. Really looking forward to it. It sounds like they addressed all my gripes from the original game.
OHH the arrow to the knee thing right? It's referring to a crossbow weapon that Nikola and Chiara uses. They're boss characters though so can't recruit them, sadly.
These games are hard. Im still on 1, trying to get past some chapters. I wish they had an easy mode, so I can just enjoy the story. I like strategy games byt their not very accessible. Any tips?
You sold me on the game as soon as you said it was more of a sequel to the first. I loved the first game and found the 2nd to be sort of boring or "off" a bit I guess. I really like the idea of the side characters getting their own little missions, I love stuff like that. I'll for sure be picking this up sometime soon. Also, I like the note you made about appreciating Japanese storytelling. It's always a pet peeve of mine when people who don't enjoy it or understand it cast it as objectively bad or uses it as a way to virtue signal whatever. Also, damn that stupid Skyrim meme won't die. Lol XD (I guess in a similar way to Skyrim never dying either)
Am I the only one who constantly used snipers in VC1? Also I love using lancers as well, they always were useful in clearing tanks for me and I used them so much because the tank needed 2CP
I just finished the game and let me tell you, concentrate fire on a lancer is amazing. It's like having a sniper that can take down tanks from any range. Also snipers are so nice to just take out any troopers so my scouts could charge forward. They are good if you give them a good line of sight
I would say so. It would be a step up mechically and graphically and not a step down (like the people who went from the console game to the handheld ones).
I can’t comment on VC 3.. But I’m just fine with those other games in the series that aren’t 1 & 4. Admittedly not absolute masterpieces just side dishes to kinda tide you over..
4? I say don't play for the story plotwise. Knowing the events of 1 puts the perspective of this campaign being utterly pointless in its end goal. Essentially resulting in alot of lost life and risked all for nothing scenario that meant nothing. Every tragedy was extra tragic in that regard (though not in a compelling way). Love the cast though.
Gets pretty annoying though when you hit chapter 5 and realise that literally none of the r&d projects are unlocking and enemies just blast you away while your rounds seem to bounce off them. Just play xcom it's much better.
