The post-war German society was still Nazi. The reason why you never heard of the second world war atrocities within Germany itself , only after the 1960s. My mother in law was born in 1945, 3 months after the war ended and she learned about it the first time when she was 16 years old. They were presenting a movie in their local community center. She was chocked! She told me that she felt ashamed of her country. She went home, asked her mom about it and the mother said that wasn‘t true. The mother lived in denial. At home they never spoke about the war. She never got along with her mom. Today she’s was on the most tolerant people I know.

'Ah, No wonder, he's the son of a traitor If I had been present when that teacher made that comment about Mr. Smend's father, I'd have asked her if she supported Hitler's policies and if she said 'yes' I'd tell her, 'Then that makes you as much a monster as Hitler was'

What strkes me is the self reflection of the people who organized Valkyrie. They recognized that the country was on the wrong path and worked hard to change that path.

@bull068 The fact that the statue is of a Nude man isn't really the point, it's the fact the nude man has his hands tied, which symbolizes that Germany was under oppression during the Nazi Regime
