Could the Valkyries be Norns? And what's their relation with Freyja and Frigg? Are the Norns projections of Frigg just as Valkyries are projections (Fylgjur) of Odin?

When my dad was young he was in WWII. When i was young he said sailors taken to the ships morgue would some times sit up and their faces twitch as their last breath escaped their lungs, sometimes it was a scream like sound. Its really cool you go that extra mile to bring the history to life.

I very much appreciate the discussion around the more darker subject matter here. Not enough people inform about these things. Thanks for covering the good and the grittiness ♥️

Luna I couldn’t reply to you. I was born October 13th on Thorsday at 3 am. I’m appreciative of this information on the valkyries. One of my cousins in Italy is named Valchiria (valkiria) lol. I hope you are doing well Arith! 😘

Luna Nero it’s my understanding that the 13th being unlucky has to do with the knights templar being massacred on oct 13th. I have to claim as lucky for me though. I’m in Georgia but no where near the water so we were hurricane safe.

This was so wonderful Arith; i cannot tell you how excited i was when i got your email that this would be coming - it covers subject area i have been trying to find out about for years. Now, i wonder - since you have spoken of the Norns - and that there are more than just 3 - Is that something you might talk about sometime - like; who where they? How did they become Norns - so so forth? I also love how you explain that crossover and melding of Freya and Frigg - - - i always felt they were the same - and that one was - later, and the 'domestic' version. Fantastic - I have actually witnessed what you were talking about with the dead - I used to work with people dying of terminal diseases. Many of those people close to their time would address me as someone/or something other than i am in my current human form. The viel is an interesting place.

I greatly appreciate your tireless and learned teachings within our Northern Heathen pantheon, and all the material that you have covered in such a short space of time is considerable and much appreciated! On this current subject of Frigga and Freyja being one and the same, I would agree that perhaps some of the ancient tribes may have viewed them as one, but in view of the mythology that has been passed down to us, it appears that there was reason to separate the two female goddesses distinctly by grouping Freyja with the Vanir and Frigga with the Aesir, and both from two separate family lines. My personal feeling is that whatever the case, at this point in time that it should remain as such, otherwise the topic is rehashed over and over and never put to rest. I would be interested to know of your thought on this perspective Arith. Another argument that never seems to be put to rest is the subject of which eye did Wotan sacrifice. Logic would seem to conclude that he sacrificed the lesser eye of importance which would be the left eye of moon and not the right eye which is the eye of sun, fire and masculine power. The scholar H.A. Guerber also takes that position in his book "Myths of the Norsemen" : (1909), wherein on page 31, he states, "Through our whole lives we strive towards the sun; that burning forehead is the eye of Odin. His second eye, the moon, shines not so bright; it has he placed in pledge in Mimir's fountain, that he may fetch the healing waters thence, each morning, for the strengthening of this eye." Again Arith I greatly enjoy your talks and so glad that you are doing what you are doing! Hailsa!

So interesting to put emphasis on violent deaths in regards to Oðinn and Valhöll. Maybe this is why germanic warriors were so feared by others - because if they got wounded, they would do whatever they could to ignore it and get a violent death instead of eg. bleeding out or similar. I disagree in regards to spirits of people whi had a violent death being bound to a place as restless dead. Archeology disagrees. It was people with a calm death that was feared of walking again as aptrgangr, draugr etc. People buried in graves and burial mounds. A famous case is a woman buried with a metal plate inscriped with an incantation to prevent her from being anything but dead, the högstena amulet.

Hi Arith - I'd really like your help and I'm not sure what the best way to contact you is. I've recently had a dream in which I believe a Norse goddess contacted me. I was in the forest with my friends, and there was a small civilization. I swam in a lake and explored a bit. There was a place in the forest where she talked to me, I recall her being blond with curly/wavy hair, and she was glowing. She showed me this big house of knights that's she rounded and locked in there because they had committed immoral acts. Later she took my friends nd I into a house and said "I have welcomed you into my realm, but it is time you leave. In my gun you will see glimpses of your life." She then shot us, nd I was in my next dream. But I remember being back in the sme spot in the forest, and there was a plaque about her. It was about a Ukrainian diety who was painted to be sort of helpless nd naive, who gave fruit to hunters and those lost in the woods. When I met with her, she had a sort of trickster energy but with good intentions. I really wnt to figure out who she is.

It is worth to mention what Valkyrja in Old Norse means. Val means chosen and Kyrja means chanting. Ergo a chanter of the dead/chosen. It could point to some religious practice in the form of song in the battlefield. Like they do in hindu warrior tradition.
@Northern85Star
@Northern85Star 5 лет назад
Kyrja means “chooser”, but the word implies that they chose among the dead, not that they chose the dead. Examples are how you choose a winner in a competition that already decided it. Or choosing the best among a group, something that is already established, but your choice made clear and official - and the choice changed that persons circumstances. “Kør” in ON is a persons circumstances, “kyrja” is to change those circumstances.
@Powersnufkin
@Powersnufkin 5 лет назад
@@Northern85Star The PIE root word of geus means to taste. Its the ravens and dogs who eat the dead in battlefields in norse sources. They have a choice in the tasting of the dead.
@Northern85Star
@Northern85Star 5 лет назад
That is 3500 years earlier than ON, minimum.. if it ever existed (theoretical language, and there are multiple theoretical languages from there up to ON). Contrary, there is direct linguistical evidence 800 years back to ON.

Your videos are extremely informative, I really enjoy them. With the sole exception of the elaboration about Hinduism and Vedic culture, that unfortunately perpetuate the obsolete colonial indology dogma without actually verify from the original genuine sources. For example, you need to know that the Sanskrit DYAUS is a FEMININ NOUN. So please enough with the crap of Dyaus being the Hindu equivalent of ZEUS etc. I would be extremely interested in off line discussions with you. You can also see my books that can be downloaded freely from the Library page of our website www jagannathavallabha com.
