One of the goddamn best bands. Every time I play these guys for friends they can't believe what they're hearing. Bone crushing, stoney, doom juggernaut.
Listening to this while reading the comments makes me even more enthusiastic about freak valley Festival in early summer '24. It's just 10 minutes drive from my home and you guys make the trip over the pond. Highly appreciated. Looking forward!
I've been following Black Pyramid since they released their very first album and never stopped. It has been a rollercoaster with all the things that happened during the year with the band, but am I glad they got back together creating awesome music.
It has indeed been a rollercoaster ride, that is an apt comparison. We're also glad to be back and creating again! Writing the new album has been a real trip ;-)
@@andyberesky4425 SWEET ODINS BEARD! never expected a reply from you. more than diggin your albums man. Astral fuel every time i listen to them. Can honestly say Black Pyramid is the space i return to more than any other music. I only stumbled upon you in 2017 so I am late. But i heap hope upon hope that I get to see you guys live someday. Best Wishes and thanks
@@andyberesky4425 haha gotta say i have zero hero worship in me. i met tom cruise once and didnt break a sweat. but i just got really fired up knowing you read my comment (which i happened to be reading while "Cloud of Unknowing" was playing in the background). it might be my favorite of your songs. maybe "Into the Dawn".
the past 10 years of my music listening .. has been dominated by this band. never seen them live, dont know any of them. i love so much music but Black Pyramid just takes you places. the world seems vast. get your ass to bandcamp and buy every album just fukin do it
We're doing shows again and planning on touring once the new record is finished. It's getting there. New songs are massive, just labyrinths of riffs and weirdness. Some different sounds and styles, as always, and those who loved the first album will hear a lot that's familiar.
They open with an instrumental that is yet to be named, then follow with Bile Blame and Blasphemy which hasn’t been officially released yet, then Worm of Ouroboros from their original debut album.
Oh, or did you mean the instrumental? That's "Astral Suicide." It'll be on the new album, there's a couple short instrumental interludes. One longer instrumental as well, it's very "jammy", which is something that we've never done before on record.
Well, we're not trying to be Blasphemy, honestly, nor were Blasphemy trying to be psychedelic. The second album was more epic/cult metal mixed with psych and doom flourishes plus that stoner tone, thus the description, though we'll probably change what we call the music for the new album. It's more about death and rebirth, themes of transformation and such, so maybe "alchemical metal - entheogenic anthems from the 22nd star." That sounds suitably corny yet descriptive, should I try harder? ;-)
First- unnamed instrumental Second- Bile Blame and Blasphemy which hasn’t officially been released yet Third- the Worm of Ouroboros from their original album
@@andyberesky4425 I think he was asking if that was a nod to Sabbath's Electric Funeral...."radiation, mind's decay." Awesome band by the way, just recently got into your music and it's a refreshing take on the stoner metal sound.
@@ep282 I actually figured that out later on, yes. Honestly, I had listened to the 2nd Sabbath album the least prior, because it's kind of like Led Zep II - we've all heard the songs a million times as kids. However, in preparation for the new album, it's been on heavy rotation in the past few months. So I did pick up what you were referencing. Not a conscious, intentional rip off or tribute, I'd tell you if it were. Just one of those images bouncing around in my head from decades of serious Sabbath worship, sounded good in the moment I wrote the lyrics. Even "Astral Suicide", the title of the first instrumental, that's from Cathedral I figured out. I've also had Supernatural Birth Machine on heavy rotation, and the song "Suicide Asteroid", Lee Dorrian does sing the phrase "Astral Suicide." I didn't remember that I'd heard it before or where it was from when I came up with the title, though listening to that album again, there it is. What can I say? I proudly wear my influences on my sleeve ;-)
That is certainly a weakness of mine. I struggled a lot when I was learning guitar to sing and play, though I really wanted to do it that way rather than getting a lead singer and just concentrating on guitar, precisely because people laughed at me when I said I was going to start a band where I'd sing and play guitar. You're absolutely right that it's something that I need to work on.
@@andyberesky4425 Holy shit, respect for replying to this. I'm really glad you guys are back together, you're one of my favorite bands & your vocals are brilliant. Hope to see you guys live one day.
@@SerialNoYM63 Well, I think that if we're not able to accept constructive criticism, we're not going to learn and grow, are we? I'm really glad that we're back together too, it feels good. I hope that you get to see us live some day as well, where are you living?
@@andyberesky4425 Hey Andy I had this problem too when I played and sang, I found if I lowered the mic I could watch my fingers and still sing into it. no shame in a lowered mic stand man! Rock on
