Lucky for you! Meanwhile here in Toronto, neither the Eglinton Crosstown LRT or Finch West LRT hasn't even opened yet. For us Torontonians, things get more frustrating as this has been going on for more than 11-13 years, ever since 2011 and 2013. Yet, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT line frustrates me even more as it was originally expected to open in 2020, there were so many delays and now being pushed back to 2024. The Finch West LRT was suppose to open in 2023, but then joins the delaying party and gets pushed back to 2024 as well. I'm just hoping that these 2 LRT lines would open at some point as we're getting impatient here, waiting for them to open the lines. Besides that, you really did a great job on the video!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed! I also understand what you’re saying as I’ve been researching the TTC and Metrolinx for a few years so that I can make videos out there one day, but it won’t be for a couple years yet. Let’s just hope both lines open when I get there as I would love to see them in person.
@@danward1106Honestly the REM is one of the few transit projects that went from planning to building very quickly. This project alongside the Canada Line (surprising the people behind REM built the Canada Line too!) We’re one of the few transit projects to build out whole transit systems from scratch without too much of a delay and cost overrun. This should be something transit agencies in Canada look into as the Vancouver Skytrain is taking ages to expand and the Langley line is still seeing project delays as the opening date moves from 2026 to 2028. Sometimes these public private projects using P3 or private funding might be a better solution when it comes to light metro systems. Ontario Line should have went to the same consortium as the ones currently being picked are beyond terrible! Not sure how Ontario’s citizens aren’t protesting!
The Valley Line LRT is probably gonna be my favorite memories of LRTs ever. From riding it in November to riding it in the future, it’s gonna be a big treat.
@@andrewweitzman4006 It really is. LRT extensions don’t occur very often here in Edmonton, and when they do, they take many years to complete. It’s actually quite exciting when I finally receive word of when something actually opens! -Transit Emperor
@@TransitEmperor4774To be honest with you, the Valley Line likely is the first ever new LRT/line i’ve ridden in my life. Since I’m used to Capital and Metro lines.
Fantastic video! I love the look and style of the LRT systems in Alberta! Very convenient for door to door commuting and the transit priority given to it is incredible! We only have BRT and Metro systems where I’m from and they won’t be converting the BRT lines to LRT due to pushback from the public. If only we could build something up to standard as the Valley Line. Being from Vancouver B.C we missed out on such a great LRT system recently as the city of Surrey decided a city wide LRT network connected to the Metro Vancouver Skytrain would be a no go. People here don’t understand the benefits of low floor light rail running within a city core. We’d rather give priority to cars and keep buses on their own lanes on the road. People here want transit away either elevated or underground. Lo and behold the 3 LRT lines to be built is now one Skytrain line. I’ll have to finally leave my province and travel to Alberta to see the LRT networks out there! Cheers and thanks for the upload!
You definitely should! The light rail systems are quite interesting out here for people who don't live in Alberta. In fact, Edmonton was the first North American city to adopt a light rail system of any kind. Thanks for watching! -Transit Emperor
@@TransitEmperor4774 That’s true I totally forgot! Now there’s even more of a reason to ride North America’s first ever LRT system the ETS! Hopefully I’ll be in Alberta this summer to experience the thrill of properly done light rail! I rode Seattle’s once but it wasn’t very convenient honestly.
Vancouver's SkyTrain network is amazing, so its funny to hear your complaint's as a Vancouverite. The way I look at it: TransLink has limited project budget, so I'm super glad it is getting spent on the SkyTrain network instead of LRT / Street Cars. Obviously Surrey needs much more rail transit, so it would be super nice if they got Street Car routes, but for now I feel the BRT routes are a good approach while the budget doesn't exist for better.

Heya! Returning to this video once more to ask a bit of questions about the Hyundai Rotem cars coming next year, how many of those are gonna be delivered what are the fleet numbers of those cars? (example: 2026 to what)
There are supposed to be up to 40 cars coming in total. The numbers will probably be 2027 to 2066 based on the current numbering scheme but they may also throw us a curveball and assign a different number series to these cars. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any more information that comes up around the time of delivery.
Typically, they only purchase cars for LRT expansions. However, if an existing car was so badly damaged in an accident that it wasn't worth repairing, then one car would be purchased as a replacement.
Hi there! These video clips were filmed during the least busy times for service on this line, hence all the empty seats. There are also videos I made of actual test runs which are available on this channel. -Transit Emperor
how fast is it? IIRC it uses the same LRV as the eglinton crosstown here in Toronto, so I want to know how much time it saved for transit riders in edmonton, for that's probably comparable to the time savings we're going to get
About the same speed as the nearby traffic. Because it’s meant to integrate with regular traffic, these trains will stop at all red traffic lights along the route. Therefore, no crossing gates or bells.
@@TransitEmperor4774 Ok, and is 102 St. Stn. located downtown? So it's 30 min. for 13 km? If yes, then I'm thinking 26 km/h is neither good nor really bad. It's only 16 mph. Thanks.
That is because these trains are basically trams. They’re designed to be a part of regular traffic, hence why they stop at red lights at all intersections along the route. Toronto uses the exact same model for use as an actual streetcar, not for a light rail line like we do. -Transit Emperor
