That's why your religious texts talk about the Last Day (Qiyamat)! Our scriptures emphasize doing good deeds (Good Karma)! God will liberate you from this material world ("Moksha"). There is missing context to this story. Since the whole universe was conquered by Hiranyakashyap and Vishnu as Narsimha killed him, Vishnu enthroned the Universal Empire to the demon's Prahlada whom he came to rescue. After prahlada, his son Virocan ruled, bc of jealousy of the universe (including the heavens) belonging to the Asura's now Indra tricked Virocana(great devotee of Vishnu) and killed him. In retaliation Bali attacked The Heavens and kicked out Indra out of his kingdom. This is when the Deva's mother Aditi prays to Vishnu for her sons to get back their power. Vishnu agreed and appeared as Indra's little brother. The rest is pretty much the same as the women tells, but one difference is that he didnt take 2 steps to envelope earth and heaven. Instead in 2 steps he conquered the entire Universe and then asked where he should put the 3rd.
