The Ravnos are no more. Once one of the mighty thirteen clans, the catastrophic awakening of their ancient founder spelled the doom for them. Today, only a small amount remain, without guidance or purpose, haunted by the week that saw them ascend to great heights in power, only to fall upon one another in a great and terrible frenzy.
The Week of Nightmare set in motion events that would eventually lead to the end of the World of Darkness. It would involve a multitude of factions all desperately trying to keep back the inevitable tide of Gehenna... or work tirelessly to see it come to fruition.
In this video, I will describe the events that shook the society of Vampires, and what was a taste of things to come.
Thank you to Socrates Johnson, for requesting this video. I hope you enjoyed it and that I managed to capture the true horror of this cataclysmic event.

Thinbloods with five dots on Thin Blood Alchemy can make a potion to raise even antediluvians from Torpor. If a thinblood gets cornered, they might as well raise hell rather than get killed like a lamb

There are gehenna scenarios (now considered not cannon) that describe what Antediluvians are truly capable of. Like The Eldest transforming himself into cancer like thing and margining with entire biosphere of the planet. Ennoia fusing herself with the planet itself and opening giant fanged holes in the ground to devour whole towns/cities.

All of them are frickin' powerful. I was disappointed that they didn't include [Ventrue] in none of the Gehenna scenarios, that was an Antediluvian I was looking foward to see. Guess they didn't know how to turn the Dominate discipline into an effective plot device.

From my experience with Vampires, I'd like to think that these Antedlivian can't just drop dead in a traditional sense. Just as I suspected that Ventru Antediluvian just used his 10 dot Dominate to fool everyone INCLUDING the readers into thinking that he died. Ravnos who can turn any imagination real with his 10 Chimerstry could probably do the same with ease.

I think in a sense it *kind* of cheapens the story a little to say that he made it anyway, meaning that WW would more or less declare that Vampires are on the top of the food chain, but I see where you're coming from.

@Primogen said it in his comment, but basically the world (and its stakes) are sometimes low in value because the vampires - especially the Antediluvians - are so insanely and shortsightedly OP. The whole thing about the Sabbat is that they want to destroy the Antediluvians before they awaken to feed on them all (before, what, going back to sleep?) and they feel empowered to do this because the two clans that made up the bulk of the sect at its founding had, through their own will, organization and elbow grease killed off their own clan founders. Doesn't it mean the Sabbat are utter shit at their whole raison d'etre if the aforementioned two Antediluvians actually 'cheated' and waka, waka, waka are still scheming somewhere or other.

I do not htink it cheapens the world as a whole, there are also other creatures from other splats that can match up with an Antediluvian. But I do not, for one second, believe that the Ravnos Antideluvian is truly out of the picture, dead maybe, but gone, not for one second.

What is even more terrifying is that Ravnos was *weakened* from the beginning. He'd woken up from Torpor and needed to feed, and hadn't even completely replenished himself. Now consider, where are his other siblings right now? The other ... ten? Where are they? Are they all asleep? Or have they been awake this entire time, and planning to do something far worse ... or prepare for something even more horrifying? And then, there is this Beckoning we've heard about in the Middle East ...

Well Lasombra for sure was destroyed during the 1st anarch revolt, taken out by his own children and some Banu Haqim i believe. And yet, with the new V5 plot it appears that some cainites are reporting to have actually encountered and fought him in some areas where the Gehenna War is going on. Whether its really him, his ghost, or just another very powerful Lasombra running around it is sending alot of cainites into madness with terror. Lasombra was one of the most powrful Antediluvians, so him coming back would be a very big problem. I for one would love to see Set come back. He was a terror in his own right and caused alot of mayhem in and around Egypt.

@@Chann223 I always saw Lasombra has having faked his own demise, much like his sibling the Eldest of the Tzimisce. I mean, how can you truly destroy the embodiment of darkness itself? It is fairly clear to me that the Sabbat are just another tool of the Ancients in the Jyhad. As for Set ... I get this feeling he is a lot craftier than people give him credit for, if his constantly adapting and evolving progeny are anything to go by.

@@Treyvah Well i do believe there is a thing with Lasombra's consciousness still existing somewhere in the abyss. Some believe he allowed himself to be killed so that he could become one with the abyss, turning into a monstrosity of the void. But the abyss itself is not too happy about that.

There are still a few of them around, but they can be considered more of a bloodline now than a full-fledged clan.

I might be late but I Love The Week of Nightmares. I've ran a few sessions for it with my players and just hearing this makes me want to run it again. Though it was done like a short story it was still a great peice of work.

So an Antediluvian was killed and took his entire clan with him, except for the youngest generations whose blood was too diluted to be controlled by him. Kind of makes you wonder what the future direction of the setting is. Maybe at some point old school kindred will have died out completely, with thinbloods becoming the new norm?

Vampire blood does thicken over time, remember 13th Generation used to be a Generation of Thin Bloods. Given time the 14th and 15th may give way to new 16th and 17th Generation thin Bloods as their Blood Thickens to that of a True Kindred.

@@ssjjshawn "thin bloods" and weak generation vampires are diffrent. "Thin bloods" can walk in the sun, many dont have to drink blood at all and can eat normal food etc. . There are barly more vampire then a normal Human in Cosplay. There blood is already so weak that they can not create new vampires and are incapable of strengthening just by themselfs. They would have to for example use diablerie to become full vampires. A weak generation vampire is still a full vampire but his initial power is weak. And therefore much more likly to (at first) create "thin bloods". And since the rest of ravnos vampires are all thin bloods (as far as we now) the bloodline is essential dead. Thats why some vampires fear what they call the time of the "thin blood". Its suppost to be an end times event.

@@TheBall12 Yes and Thin Bloods are 14th and 15th generation Vampires, as of V20 and its Generation Chart, I speculated that given time 14th and 15th generation Vampires would lose that ability and become weaker generation Vampires (Like the 13th did) if Gehenna and the Withering didn't happen or V5 didn't fuck up a lot of the lore

@@ssjjshawn no... not all 14-15 generation vampires are "thin bloods". It depends for example on the age (strength) of the sire. But these generations are much more likly to be since there blood is already very thin/weak to begin with and alot of 13 generation vampires are not of significant age (strength) already. "thin bloods" and weak generation vampires are diffrent.... .

It was a huge collaborative effort between the Camarilla and the Technocracy, I believe. Even so, the Camarilla are still suffering the after effects of it, in particular how it rekindled Vampiric faiths amongst the Ivory Tower.

Great effects in this one! The week of nightmares is a very cool event in the WoD, especially because it brings in all the major lines of the books. You've got kindred, lupines, and mages all getting in on the apocalyptic action!

Here's the thing, the Ravnos Antediluvian can't be dead? The Ravnos still are suffering the Beckoning which are tied to the clan's antediluvians being active...the only clan not tied to the beckoning is Hecata because all of their antediluvians are chronologically and fully truly dead - Augustus, Cappadocius and with Chimerstry 10 it could just as easily fake it's own death or create an entire battle slaughtering mighty opponents only for them to discover that it was not even the real thing.

I know this is pretty old lore but considering the Antediluvian's rampage literally damaged the wall between the mortal/spiritual world and how in wraith the oblivion material it was mentioned that people used to physically be able to enter the land of the dead makes me think that the veil between worlds was damaged from the last time all the antediluvians were all fully awake. While for the past few thousand years the growing divide between the two realms has been old wounds slowly healing up.

True, but they weren't in frenzy in ancient times. Probably saw a lot less action than what Zapp would have seen, if he didn't get wasted. Also, I think Zapp just responded to spirit attacks with spirit attacks. And every andie has his own set of gimmicks, no not everyone will go spirit holocaust when awake. Look at Tzimisce, they guy just wants to become a tree, doesn't even want to bother anyone anymore.

The ravnos are by far the most intresting clan to me, as an independent clan from both sabbat, camrillia and anarch they are an intresting group, as well as their relationship to western 'gyspies' and werewolves, all of it appeals to my inner vagabond . Plus i might just really want to prank a venture into drinking from a homless person.🙃

Flash backs of being a player in one of the official white wolf gaming seasons for this back in 1998/1999! Surviving with my 1st character who I used at various events. And now to return in 5th edition. This storyline was 1 of my last games ever! Man it was great to eat a sandwich while listening to this. Crazy great times! And to have modeled for some of the artist having my likeness in a few pictures was both a blessing & super fun! I'm looking forward to bring my Lasombra back into action very very soon! Something emerged from the ruins of the prime chantry. It was...seemingly human. Saulot staggered up. He looked around. Then to himself. Saulot looked...himself. the progenitor of clan salubri had this aura about him,a presence of utter zen and calm. The first enlightened saw it. Visions of it all. After all,he saw much. "Hm...a shame. It seems...ive been gone a long...long time." Saulot looked at the ruins. He saw ashes and slightly torn clothes. He looked archaic. If he was not careful...house tremere would make a fools errand and more would too. Come night,saulot would finally move. Not through reality though. With a gesture,saulot walked into the umbra. It was...changed. rotting. Yet that would be for another night. The grandchilder of caine would eventually end up in a woodland area. saulot breathed in and out. He did not need to,yet felt so. The smell of earth after the rain recent. Perfect. And so, saulot sat and meditated. After all,what was the point? He has time. Time to think. Time to contemplate...

I played WoD when it first came out and was the 'hot, new' RPG. By the time of this 'Genre Wide Apocalypse', though, we had gotten tired of the doom and gloom of the setting, and went back to D&D and Champions ^_^
