Sigh....I went to three shows in the 2019 leg of the tour and had tickets for about 7 of them to follow them around in summer this year (2020). Sigh...the pandemic happened.
Batmanglij was more important to their sound than I would have imagined. I think he had a lot to do with sound engineering. They are still awesome, but you can notice a drop in quality. They should get someone to emulate Batmanglij's job.
I hear you but Modern Vampires of the City is arguably their best sounding album and Ariel Rectshaid had a lot to do with it. I love Rostam too but I think he gets way too much praise and Ezra has been getting way too much hate for Father of The Bride.
