She says in the show along the lines of, everything she turns some back she loses a bit of herself. I think the more she turn back to human the more vampire she becomes.
Vanessa did not heal from the sewer vampire because she had a piece of its tooth stuck in her wound causing infection and preventing it from healing. Once it was removed she returned to normal capacity.
The show was interesting, but it became too much LGBTQ. I am fine with strong females taking the roles of leaders but please do tell me if it doesnt feel forced that every strong character in this show happens to be a female..... I wish people could take more notes from TV shows like Arcane, that show gives you a lot of context on how to write and develop your characters and cast in general
I'd love to see a video on the vampires from Salem's Lot. I always thought they were really interesting and in the book the mythology was fairly deep and accurate. His servant "preparing the way" and even going as far as to buy all the roses from the flower shops to prevent their use. Most movies forget about the roses vs vampires.
I know this is unrelated, but congratulations man. For all of the hard work that you do. I remember when the only few videos on your channel were just the Underworld Lore videos, which originally brought me to your channel. The upgrade in your mic and editing is night and day! I remember when I found your channel, it only had 1.2K subscribers. Look at you now! But congratulations, man! I absolutely love the new content and I'm looking forward to seeing you grow 🔥🔥
@@coganLollins just keep doing you! The key to the growth, is to cover the lore that you love. Because your passion and knowledge for the lore will shine through, which will draw in more of an audience that also loves these videos and will also garner further attention! It will also help with your burnout lmao. You will be less likely to burnout if you cover videos that you love.
Loved the show. I thought the elder were really old vampires that were thousands of years old but then Sam became one. Obviously he's still in his 2 digits so he's not even an old vampire. Show did go from science to magic after season 3.
I was never really into these post-apocalyptic monster shows, but you did a great job explaining this show. 👍🏾 You should cover the shows "Being Human" (both UK & US versions) and "Penny Dreadful".
I know that I'm quite a bit late to the party but I just wanted to add my respects for Christopher Heyerdahl as well. I'm not sure if "underated" is the correct way to describe him. Maybe "underutilized" would be better because anyone who knows who he is also knows what a great actor he is. My first introduction to him was as Todd the Wraith and I've been impressed by every other character since. He also did a great job as "The Swede" in hell on wheels.
@@bekleedee I’ve seen it, but thanks. My favorites are Firefly/Serenity, Edge of Tomorrow(Live, Die Repeat), 12 Monkeys(Movie, I only really liked the 1st season of the TV show)) and BSG. If you are looking for something really cerebral Primer is good. I had to watch it twice to understand it.
Don't forget Christopher not only plays all those vampire roles but also Todd a Wraith from Stargate Atlantis, they are sort of vampiric, draining the lifeforce from people.
I liked it at first but once Kelly was no longer in the show much (she kept getting pregnant) the show took a nose dive and stories went aimlessly but I still watched it.
I was sad when they took the super healing from Axel and Julius. They were amazing and that meant that they were able to go toe to toe with super vamps. Other than that, it was great watching the show. I didn't really like the final few episodes though as it seemed like a cop out that Vanessa just gained similar powers to fight the dark one. It felt like a lazy solution to me. Other than that, it was a great show, and the cast was amazing.
Yeah, you did it again. Every time I hear about a vampire show or movie and I'm like 'meh', later, when you cover it on here I leave your video and I'm sold on it. You promote these shows and movies better than the makers themselves do.
I remember this series fondly, but I also know that I didn't finish it and for the life of me I cannot remember, so I think after watching your video and seeing how the world and mythology deepened, I'll have to give it a rewatch. I do, very distinctly remember Sam breaking my heart. I adored Sam and Mohamad before the big reveal and like I said, it broke my heart.
I tried watching this series at least 3 or 4 times but never managed to get into it. The only 2 things I enjoyed about the show are the premise with the eruption and the vampires coming out of hiding, and the different kinds of vampires. That's it. Everything else felt so weak and cheap, and adding a few actors I really like seeing on television didn't change much. I couldn't care less about the main character and main villain.
@@0supafru1ty0xoxo2 A shame that this show wasn't co-produced by Universal or Stephen Sommers (director of Van Helsing 2004) Vanessa and Scarlett both being werewolves would have made way more sense for this show rather than half Vampires.
@OliverReynolds123 Unfortunately this show wasn't co-produced by universal and and had no involvement from director Stephen sommers who directed The Mummy and the Van Helsing 2004 movie with Hugh Jackman and Kate beckinsale. Even though this show was created by the Syfy channel which is a channel created by NBC universal.
Just started that show today and i cant understand why the vampire's behave more zombie like? The only vampires i saw in that Series acting like "normal" vampires just like from Underworld seem to be the elders or the dark one...why is that so? I personally think that letting the vampires behave like zombies ruines the Show a little because it so gives up a vibe like Resident evil. They also let them look like zombies. For me its a thing that confuses me.
Vanessa biting Dracula caused some of the power in the hosts body to leave making the hold on that host weaker. The "blood" in the vial is actually just the some of the power of the Dark One. When it's opened it's like a plume of smoke going into your nostrils when it enters you, like it did to Violet.
One season and I’m sick of Vanessa constantly whining how “she can’t help anyone”, “she can’t have anyone look to her”. What is her problem?? Nobody is asking her to run for President. She can save mankind by donating a little bit of blood but that is too much responsibility? What is her problem?
A new show that recently dropped has some really interesting vampires. Its called Vampire in the garden and i think you might like doing a short video on it.
A female Dracula is pretty dumb. They should have done a queen of the dammed or lilith character. Feels like they just wanted Dracula to be a wiman because of some stupid ideology. Would have loved a Lilith better.
This show started to cram way too much feminist propaganda into its writing. Tip: if you have to dump on the male characters to make your female characters good, you don’t have strong female characters. You have a poorly written mess with boring male characters and obnoxiously preachy female ones. Go back to class, this is pretty basic stuff. Hard pass on this trash. Go watch Yellowstone. It has female characters that are all over the spectrum, but all written very well. This show is like the JV women’s t-ball of writing.
Hi. I get it, that this video, is one year old. Understand, that I have left you, one or two, items about a Vampire, after me; to turn me; Or to "Bring me over". I resently, learned, via my dreams; My dreams, are how that Vampire, talks to me. The Vampire, tells me, important things, of the Vampire, world and what to expect when, Vampire, brings me over. ( I know, I haven't alluded a Vampire sex, as yet. I'll try to say out of any "Woke" agenda, in my fact full, tellings, of my life). Recently, and through dreams, the Vampire, has told me, I have always been a Vampire, since the year 1600. For some reason, my memory, had been erased, time after time. And no explanation, has been given. My dreams, are always convoluted, as a puzzled, it takes time, for me to realize their meaning. Example: It has taken, eight years to realize, that a Vampire, was after me. I thought at first, I was a Warlock; A natural witch, that didn't need books, ( The Golden Dawn, Or Kabbalah), to cast spells. Again, via dream-state, I, was guided away, from the Witchcraft, concepts and put on the path of Vampirism..........The reason Vampire, desires, to bring me over, is for romance and love's sake. I gather, that through the ages, after my memories, were erased, Vampire, gives me a choice. Perhaps, each time, after given a choice, I say "Yes", to being a Vampire. This, as I am leaning toward saying "Yes" to the special kiss. Note: Anything, man doesn't understand is evil. Hasn't, anyone ever heard of "Lies" ? When you don't like someone, you create lies, about them, to gain a band of haters. Example: The girl, didn't go with you, under the bleachers, so now she's.........Un-Lady-like ( though, she did nothing wrong ) Earl, is a computer geek, as Earl, gets superior grades, out doing the football jock. The jock, had to take, lessons from the computer genius, so now, Earl, is a geek, even though, he helped the jock. Vampires, are from another, World and consuming blood is how they obtain nutrients. Earth, people are mad, because Vampires, always get the girl. So, now Vampires ,are monsters. Vampires, have the ability to shape shift, but that is in their DNA. Why, are Vampires, monsters? Villagers, in Eastern Europe, didn't like people, who couldn't speak their language? Or because, Vampires, didn't pay taxes, on castles, that they had built? Or was the hate fuelled by the, the fact, that all the village women desired, the romanticism of these new strangers? It's always, a small matter of jealousy, that burns, the fuel to hate. Lastly. I might say yes, to the Vampiristic, kiss, as I long, for romance, love and longevity. Which is what, via dreamstate, Vampire, desires of me. Note: Last night's dream: I said "Yes" to Vampire. I can feel, that I did, even though, I cannot remember the dream. All the best Shaun 🦉of NYC 👽🗽
Logan, my friend, as a fellow vampire fan, I can't wait for you to cover The World of Darkness and Vampire the Masquerade. I know it is not a TV show or a film, as usually you prefer, but man, it is the best piece of media there is on vampires like EVER. Too good to pass. I know quite a lot about it, but I do enjoy your videos on the matter. Edit: the second I post this comment, I notice basically the same one at the top of the section from 10 days ago, lol. Edit 2: Do not listen to people, who encourage you to play Malkavians or Nosferatu first, cause, one, tremers are the supreme choice of a refined gentelperson (ye, I said it), second, they are "the weird kinds", that are better to be played after you finished the game as a more "normal" ones.
Im so tired of girl bosses, I could throw up. Every single action or fantasy story they have to force the girl boss on you. Every story has to have the strongest smartet bestest person be the girl boss.
I’m currently watching season 3 and this show lacks some logic. The sisterhood was supposed to be so powerful yet Maya was killed in a second. Some are vampires, others are zombies or something else. Vanessa treated her sister so poorly and she is extremely self centered. She let Axel suffer when he was begging her to heal him and he took care of her for 3 years straight and rushed his life multiple times for her after she woke up. Scarlet barely has some powers even though she’s Vanessa’s twin and if it wasn’t for Axel nobody would care about her. The ancestors are supposed to be powerful yet they are killed so effortlessly. I started the show because I love Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman but unless it takes another tourne this show is written poorly
Chris Heyerdahl played Jack the Ripper in the SyFy series Sanctuary. It wasn't technically a "vampire show" but it had main characters who are a group of immortals & vampires/vampire lore is an important plot element. There are werewolves & all sorts of mythical beings & cryptids in the show. It's a fun watch, kinda Steam Punk/ Gothic in aesthetic, with many recognizable fantasy/scifi actors. Heyerdahl is always good & it's worth watching just for his performances.
Thats so true! I usually dismiss syfy shows since they are usually corny and bad cg, other than US version of "being human" i watched the entire series it was really good
The I don't like when netflix or other shows/media change things like race and gender and religion of characters. It kinda shows that the creators don't understand what composes a character and is just an attempt to use a name that is recognised for financial gain whilst doing something completely else.
Not really a plot hole. If you think about it this way, Vanessa, Scarlett, Jack and Violet all had experiments done on them at the farm. But Vanessa actually gave birth to Dylan. That's just my interpretation of it. But yeah it would have made sense if Vanessa passed on those abilities to Dylan but I guess it was just a different angle from other TV shows. Although I was always a little confused as to why Dylan burned in the sun but the others never did
Why does it matter what gender dracula is a long as she's terrifying. Also, imagine if you will that you actually learned the meaning of the word "woke".
@@bethanychatman9531 Great response, anyways. There’s a reason I said “for no other reason”. I’m not against different takes on characters etc. I just dislike it when it’s done to purposely push agendas regardless of what it is, as opposed to just telling good stories with good characters. In Dracula’s case tho, it’s a character inspired by a real life man so making Dracula a woman is just ultimately a little weird but I could accept it if done right.
@@bethanychatman9531 They could have made Dracula a shape-shifter who changes his face identity every so often to maintain sequence of him being a vampire. For thousands of years he has taken on the identity and gender of thousands of people. No one really knows what he used to look like or what is True form was/is (which would make him very very terrifying) A clever twist would be that Dracula himself has also forgotten what it used to look like or what it's true face/identity.
@@Bori.1776 They should have made Dracula a shapeshifter which would have been way more terrifying then essentially making him Rumpelstiltskin from once upon a Time. Dracula in Bram stoker's Dracula novel was a alchemist/warlock who made a deal with Satan for dark powers & knowledge.
The lore of this show is too complicated. There are too many different types of vampires, and too many different powers and vulnerabilities. Who can keep track of all that? 😳😳😳
I really need to get back into this series. Started it with an ex girlfriend a few years back and we stopped watching midway though season 1. I have no idea why since we were enjoying it.
I actually want to see a van helsing series set in the 1800's with a guy in the role as THE van helsing not some ancestor in modern day. I find the older the time period a horror series is set in the scarier it is!! Less tech for one ( always ruins a horror , what's wrong with basic weapons and means of dispatch?! No fucking phones, cars or any of that crap makes things to easy and a lot less nerve jangling)
The show was great untill it went overly magical and the last season was terrible. The actor who plays Sam would so well cast as the joker I'm also in disbelief it hasn't happened.
Vampire Diaries is preternatural romance, Van Helsing is horror, and the idea of undead apocalypse is original of vampires, the book of I am legend is the first story of undead apocalypse and the author made it following the idea of "if a vampire is bad imagine thousands of them", the idea of zombie apocalypse was the copycat, the author of the first movie of zombies was actually following the book of I am legend.
