amazing video, van seems like a very down to earth guy and glad to have him on the podcast, I'm in the same boat and have been in meetings with labels and management and it can all seem a bit overwhelming. Just hopped off a meeting with Indify and got invited to the platform so I got very excited when Nic mentioned them haha, keep up the gems really appreciate this platform where us rising artists can learn from you guys

Thank you! And Connor is already proof of this! When we met Nic, he was at 70k monthly listeners. Now 7 months later he's at 2.4 million. The best part of it is that it's all documented on tiktok and IG. You can scroll back and see when his content started to shift and how it shifted and how his consistency and approach to marketing impacted his streams 🙏

No way, I think new artists should slowly release their stuff... Get the word out, but keep the want coming.... Too fast they burnout, over play, and fizzle.... :/ You gotta keep that want in it...

AP, nothing is more important than consistency and volume of output when you are in your growth stage. Regardless of content going viral or not. You NEED to be releasing as consistently as possible with both content and new music. A new song every week is the BEST approach. Connor and Nic are direct proof of this. Not to mention Russ (and many other successful indie artists). Numbers don't lie!

i f’d up.. got half a milli views on a demo that i haven’t released and now i’m in that chasing my tail phase. i’ve replicated it before and my first song has 1.5m streams on spotify just from tiktok, zero editorials. i can’t wait to be releasing consistent music again, what are your thoughts on distribution deals? i’ve been offered a couple that on paper look really good.. but i got 1.5m completely independently and i’m sat at 400k+ followers on tiktok so i don’t doubt i can do that again, especially with the quality of music that i have on the way

Great question! When you upload a reel to IG it gives you the option to "also share to feed". If you leave this unchecked the reel will post to the "back end" and not on your main feed

Bro could for sure release the demo version less polished and release a remastered. Btw, is way cooler to post as OG version instead of DEMO. (OG version followed by the official + dirty + some remix

what's your guys thoughts on buying unlimited license versus exclusive? Unlimited lasts only 10 years and if someone buys exclusive after you it's over after that.
