Amazingly informative vid ! I have lioked at Sketchup before but never took the time to poke around and learn it... your demo here was SO helpful... staring in the van with a "real-life application " ... showing what your end product was supposed to be/ where it is going and how big, etc... then showing how to find it and use the free version .... and transferring your measurements i to the project....etc.. So helpful and user friendly...thanks for taking the time and investing in your audience and community. Keep up the awesome work!
First, i have to say, I love ur channel! I cant get enuff of watching ur van build videos, it just sux that ur not filming n releasing more footage frequently :( granted u have a life outside of u tube, that's understandable but ur videos r few in btwn, I feel like ur teasing me lol I cant speak for anyone else, however I've learned a lot watching ur van builds that I simply cant get enuff lol I'm a sponge for God's sake, I seek ur knowledge! I need to absorb more of it!!! Lol
@@douglasharley2440 I don't think I have a choice lol he is his own person, I cant make him do anything he doesn't want too :(( ur right, there are other channels, i just dig dual ex's style, simplicity n indepthness of his projects. I've seen other channels n some r real wild n cool, others r just ok........do u have some u'd like to suggest?
U have been busy with the girlfriend and have neglected us😞 Glad Ur back maybe show us Ur new place and ifya built anymore furniture. I like to steal ideas from ya! 💪 guns still lookin gud btw☮️❤️🤗
Thanks soooo much! This is going to help so much! I've been making scaled down cardboard mock ups just to get a good idea of the build 3 dimensionally! This will be a HUGE timesaver!! ❤
Am I able to just pay a carpenter to do all of this ? I’m really interested in converting my van , but i want to make sure everything is built correctly and the way I want it to be built , and I’m no where near experienced when it comes to using tools to cut wood , measuring , insulation etc.
This is an awesome video/tutorial. I can't tell you the number of times I wanted to make something, like a quick and dirty tv stand but ended up not doing so because when I got to Sketchup, I got frustrated. Always look forward to your videos.
Hi 🖐️DualEx! Great DIY... Software Tool..."SketchUp". As always you are very helpful and informative. It will take some time (for newbies like me) to become a "Pro" at using it... but you're a great real-life Guide to follow. Thank you much for sharing. Happy Van-Builds!! *Van🚐Wings🦋*
Like others have said we've downloaded and tried and gave up. Thank you so much for this applicable mini tutorial. It won't only benefit us, but we'll be viewing more than once, which cause the algo to kick in for ya! I won't get to do it for several months, but I'll be back. Yeah, we missed ya. Don't stay gone so long.
U deserve lots more of subscriber! Where have u been, when I started to build my furnitures, loooong time ago! Well, now its to late, but I still love watching you
Thanks so much for this! I've been using Vanspace3D, which is nice but can't do everything I need it to do. I'm not in a place where I can start my van conversion yet, but if you're still in this business when I am, I'll look you up!
"Step 1: make sure your space is filled with garbage." 😅😁🤣🤣 I had to pause cause I was laughing so hard. I enjoy your humor as much as your guidance. Thank you for being a normal (and yet exceptional) human being.
Finally!! I’ve been downloading and trying out so many CAD apps- and then I saw this- it’s perfect. Looks similar to an Adobe style product to a small extent. Scored bigtime, nice find!
You helped me with using sketchup and now its even easier to get started with the program. I subscribed, liked and very impressed with your abilities! Hang in there! It is a learning process to create things and I think your doing great.
Oh my gosh I can’t even explain how helpful this was. I would always go into sketchup not knowing what to do or how to do it and I would quit after getting frustrated but this tutorial helped me design and build my tv stand. Thank you!
I think this is the third time I've watched this video & I finally figured it out👏. This program has been a great tool to use! Thanks so much for making it easier then my brain could comprehend on its own😉
Thank you, I am not a builder and don’t get it but, with your instructions and visually showing us through this software I totally understood 99% of it!! Thank you
Thanks for this tutorial. Learning another program is so time consuming I usually won't bother. Your tutorial saved me that time and this program should save more time and make everything easier. Thanks!
Instead of making them components you should make them groups. It’s basically the same thing but you really only need to make it a component if you’re going to reuse that shape. Which is why it wants you to label it and save it. If you make it a group it won’t be effected by anything else you draw on it. You can have multiple groups of things touching each other. Will save a tiny bit of time. Sketchup is awesome but has a big learning curve.
I wish I still had my computer, I'd use it for something like this, it was stolen awhile ago through vandalism. However, I would have to draw mine out with good measurements liken to how you have to measure at different points of the van😊
My deepest respect for you. In a materialistic world where people follow the $$, you share skills that you could easily profit from. You make this world a better place. Stay humble.
Great video. Smiling as when I taught math the one question that came up repeatedly was, “When the heck will I ever need to know this stuff?” Told them, all the time as you have to know what you need to want to happen to be able to solve the problem. Giving you an A+.
Makalapua Megs I don’t think I’ve used any math that I learned in school since middle school lol pretty much all of the math I did in college was useless but I know what you meant
Thank you so much! This was a very helpful tutorial! I was on Sketchup earlier this week, and I couldn't figure out how to do what I wanted. Now I know!
Thanks for sharing but happened to the van you are working on? Did you finish it? Did you sell it? I am seriously thinking of starting a business building out vans specializing in lowtops.
Great tips on using Sketchup. I tried it a few times before and got frustrated, but tried again after watching and got quite a bit done. Making components is a game changer.
I’ve liked all of your past videos but this one was difficult to keep up with but that’s ok I know your gf will get better with being your videographer (I heard her giggle). 🤣🤣
@@Dualex_Builds I tried to figure out how to use this program before and gave up. Grabbed a notebook, pencil, speed square, and a tape measure instead. I'll try it again in the future now that I watched this. Great job.
