What happened? Why don’t we all have that album on our shelves? What a miscarriage of justice! Van’s voice is rock-superstar golden; James plays he friggin ass off. And I miss Ray. They should he getting their lifetime achievement Grammys soon. But it didn’t happen. And we all lost out. Michael Maffei 2/12/2023
@@VanirTraditionalist Not only are we both Traditionalists, fans/supporters of 'Interregnum/Arktos' (assuming you are) and we also enjoyed 'Channel Zero' and this Van Duren song? Small world! Salute! 🙋🏻♂️
I love everything Van Duren ever did. "Jane" is one of my favorite tunes, from the Good Question record. "Jane" is a masterpiece of efficient and powerful writing and arranging. I really wish someone would post more songs from BLUE ORANGE. Also HAILSTONE HOLLIDAY. I think Van Duren is better than anything on the charts today, and better than most things on the charts in the last 30 years.
Ray Sanders--bass, vocals/James Lott--vocals, lead guitars/Van Duren--lead vocals, guitars/Bill Lineberry--drums/Susanne Jerome Taylor & Pat Taylor--vocals. From the Good Question album, "Thin Disguise"
I have the vinyl album (great cover!). I ripped it to CD and played it non-stop for months. GQ was the hottest band in Memphis in the 80s IMO. I saw them live at The Agricenter back in the day and was just blown away. They should have been world famous.
That's the late Ray Sanders (1949-2003). Amazing player and funny as hell. Bill Murray indeed. Once in the '80's we were having a band dinner at a club in Arkansas after sound check, and the young woman who was our server said to Ray, "You look like that guy on Saturday Night Live--Eddie Murphy"
