Finally got the account back.. Made this one around the same time I did Baluchitherium and Here I Go Again. I got to borrow a Kemper Amplifier last spring and used a EVH 5150 III patch with matching EVH Celestion speaker.
In an interview Eddie talked about how he would always practice. This early song shows how fluid he was even at such a young age, which started the era of virtuosos. Thanks Eddie; for all the greatest you possessed and influenced.

Ah now I see the difference between a beginning guitarist and a master, the master is a perfectionist and tastefully fills up every nook and cranny with delicious stuff. They leave nothing to chance, even someone that doesn’t like rock has to submit and say, ok, masterpiece.
Happy my buddy Kent Carlevi got his RU-vid channel back! This guy can play anything on the guitar! Better than the original! I guess a lot of artists thought he was stealing, and to be honest, he's way better than EVH...check out why they're jealous! lol.
Wade Harman this guy is a great cover guitarist! tThat being said, stating that he's better than the creator of this riff in this case Eddie Van Halen is pure ignorance or lacking knowledge within the guitar world, Ive always found Van Halens' phrasing and his distinct swing very awe inspiring - true Van Halen is far from my favorite rock guitarist. I would like to see Kent do some improvisation rather then going head over heels over a cover version.. anyone can learn that, what makes a great guitarist at least from my point of view is his ability to create harmony, improvise and his timing, those factors are important.
EVH was a trendsetter, I'm not trying to knock anything that he's done. Carlevi is better, hands down. There's more than just this stuff to prove it. I've studied EVH and while there's no denying his genius behind the strings and his pathfinder approach, Carlevi has built upon those foundations and added even more greatness to it. So yeah, Carlevi is better.
I love how this is done in a 1990s EVH style. Standard E tuning. Sounds like this is either doubled or has a detune effect. More gain and generally smoother and more improv. Great job.

YES! FINALLY! I love how you improv bits of your songs, and how smooth it is. There's a sweep you did in the outro to "aint talkin bout love" which I still believe to this day you used black magic and/or witchcraft to accomplish. Outstanding playing as per usual man
This is how it should have sounded when it was recorded originally. I really like the Kent add-ins. I have listed to this version so many times that when I heard the original again on the radio, I was kinda bummed. They should have played this version instead. 3 words: Fab U Lus!
What!!?? You're outta ur mind!! All this cat is doing is copying Ed's parts in a tune that he had no part in conceiving nor writing..It's a nice cover, but he doesn't have that swing, boogie, and grit Ed has in those rhythm parts particularly..But nobody does, his playing is so personal and signature..It's no knock against this guy or his abilities at all..One guy I've heard somewhat close to Ed playing Van Halen songs is Paul Gilbert, And it may also sound clean and neat due to the fact that this song was recorded in the late 70's on recording and guitar gear almost 40 years ago..Gear compared to now from then, there's a huge difference.
Bob Roszkowski How can you say this is how the song should've been recorded? this guy didn't write the song. He's just embellishing something someone else created. The hard part was creating the song in the first place. Anyone can can embellish what they didn't create.
What? I love this cover by Kent (hence why I’m rewatching it right now) but the “Albert Lee” style fills by Ed in the original and live 1979 version are impeccable.

Bitchin,most overlook Eddie's spectacular rhythm and groove/swing.Best musicians have an ability to lope and punch around a beat,makes the hotties get up and shake it on down!
