Please stop the cigarettes Hiro! They almost killed Eddie, don't make it happen to you! We want you here for a very long time, sharing your always excellent videos!
The secret of this exquisite rendition of Cathedral is that the guitarist keeps a lit cigarette in the strings of the headstock of his axe. Works every time.
They are people who can't play guitar, themselves. Like all critics, they have no talent of their own, so they think that qualifies them to judge people who DO have talent.
I remember as a kid when Diver Down came out in 82' it took us awhile to figure out what the fuck Eddie was doing. Was it a guitar? Was it a synth? Back then we didn't have easy access to such information as what we have now. It's what made Ed such a legend to me was the entirely alien sound he achieved in guitar sound. Also with little guitars intro we thought it was 2 edits with a dub over
I set up my equip. to play while giving out candy at Halloween... Always get a 17 yr. old wise guy, and Cathedral gobsmacks em every time. This year it's Vai's " Prayer". Wheeee.
At first I make the volume of the guitar 0 and I give a note in the hammer on of the left hand. and then I raise the volume of the guitar quickly and give a sound like the violin. and then I use a Delay effect about 400ms.
This cover made me wanna learn it. But unfortunately I don’t think my volume knob can handle it. Plus, after you were done I could hear Secrets playing in my head LOL!
Was thinking same thing. Cathedral is one of those songs you never listen to by itself. Its always followed by Secrets. Same as Intruder/Pretty Woman. When I have it on shuffle, and Pretty Woman doesn't follow Intruder, its a shock to the system.
I have heard many people try to play this song, and while they did a fine job.Yours is by far the purest and truest to the original. My hat is off to you fine sir.Keep up the excellent work.
Awesome job. It was pretty impressive to watch the master himself play that at a concert but you sir are just as good. The only thing missing that I love from the original studio recording is the amp hiss in the background and the sound of Ed’s fingers going up and down the fret board on the strings.
only if you have cheap pots. lower grade pots will heat up and lock (which is actually kind of misleading, as it means the wheel that changes the resistance locks in place, but the knob will spin freely) or even just plain break off. if you have decent pots, you won't have a problem.
