Can't hear this song without thinking of the movie "better off dead" the guitar playing hamburger 😂😂😂 classic ✌️

I was in the 10th grade when this album came out in 1980. It included a poster of David Lee Roth down on his knees wearing black leather pants, no shirt with his wrists chained above his head. I tacked that poster on the wall behind my door. One day, for the first time in years, my dad came into my room to tell me something and the door started closing. He turned and saw that poster and freaked out "Get that shit off your wall! Who do you think you are little girl?" I was so embarrassed but said, "Dad, it's only a poster." Totally pissed, he told me to take it down and he never wanted to see it again. About 2 days later, I tacked it back up on the backside of the door itself. He came in that night, pulled the door towards himself and peeked at the wall behind it. He said, "glad you came to your senses." I went from total panic to a big smile once he closed the door. The David Lee Roth poster remained until I left for college. I know he never saw it because if he had, it wouldn't have survived.

I got this when I was a teen in the early 1980’s and wow it was amazing!! Early Van Halen just like early Aerosmith is the best. Cheers.

Biz, you are spot on with your take on this album ...it's primal as F*CK! The way way it should be. This album damn near killed me as a young teenager...just so much adrenaline. Makes you do some crazy shit when you're partying lights out! This was the album they were touring on for my first Van Halen concert. I will never ever forget it. The crowd was just as relentless as the band ! It was thunderous!!!! This is so on the heels of the first album. A hard choice indeed. It's less commercial... it's raw...it's savage!

Watched them 6x in the 80’s. What a concert. Also, watched them with Sammy and most recently back in 2015 before Eddie’s passing.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Lol, I don't have to imagine it!!! I lived it I bought this album when it was released came home played it on my dad's hifi record player full volume (dad wasn't home) enjoyed it listened to the whole album with my friends!!!! Lol my report card from school came in the mail that dad and the part "Have you seen Jr's grades?" Was too perfect because that weren't good lol and I was in trouble when my folks see it later!!! Lol And the cradle will rock!!! Lol. Rock on buddy!!!

This is one of my favorite songs by Van Halen

Van Halen's debut is the best of their first three albums and my favorite overall. Fair warning- their 4th album- is a close second. All the fellas in the band hit their peak on that album.

The Better Off Dead scene with Franken Burger and Blane yelling "It's Alive It's Alive" is what I think of with this song.

Back in 1980 when I was 16, this was my favourite song to come up on my cassette car stereo as I was about to cruise the main drag on a weekend night. I'm not sure if cruising the drag is still a thing 25 yrs latter.....

I will forever see a dancing hamburger when I hear this song . Even though I had heard it hundreds of times before I ever watched Better off Dead .

This song appeared in a John Cusack 80's comedy movie, which is hilarious. While John is working the grille at a fastfood joint, this song comes on & he imangines a hamburger coming to life in claymation. The hamburger plays Eddie's guitar, sings & dances. Such an amazing scene, but also a great comedy.

I’ve always felt that this could have easily been there first record because many of these songs were complete and featured on their early demos prior to their first album. Another great reaction Biz. Favorite song off the record is “Fools” but honestly, they are all incredible. Definitely some gangsta cuts on this album. I hope you realize by now that Van Halen were and remain the greatest American Rock band of all time.

I like three the most. My fav song is loss control. But the whole album is amazing.

It’s called the VH “party album “ for a reason. Many times I put this on during keg parties & just cruising around in my ride. It’s my favorite VH album the moment I heard it. You are in for a treat my man. As raw as the first album but absolutely a masterpiece from the prospective of a teenager with hormones raging & like you said “on the hunt”.

This is a very eclectic album….you’re gonna like it!

You might find this album is driven by Michael Anthony's bass after Eddie and Alex lead the first two . That was a Tarzan yell at the beginning

I remember those VH albums dropping when I was in jr high school. It wasn’t until Guns n Roses came along that we saw a debut equal VH

This album and “Fair Warning” are my favorites !!! Great reaction Biz 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 The next 2 tracks are off the chain !🎸🔥 Biz…. When you get to Tora Tora Tora, it’s a 1 minute intro for the next track “Loss Of Control”

Of the first 3 albums their debut is easily the best one. My favorite song off this album is this one followed by And the Cradle Will Rock. I don't remember liking any of the other ones off this album. But I'm gonna listen to them with you and see if I feel any different about them

Saw them live in Mobile Alabama for And The Cradle Will Rock tour. It was their first headlining tour. They got banned from ever coming g back to Mobile for offensive behavior, smoking fake faint joint and drinking from large Jack Daniels, slamming the local commissioners for ripping g off bands. Had to drive to Biloxi, Miss. To catch them on Fair Warning and Diver Down tours.

This was the first VH album i ever bought because my brother didn't have this one. money well spent. Probably the first record I ever bought where every song was great!

People forget how GREAT this album is. Tits on a skyscraper. 🤘🤘 -Yes: "Romeo Delight" and "Take Your Whisky Home" 💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘 Raw fire! ...but you can't neglect city-burners like: "Light Up The Sky" and the heavy-yet-melodic: "In A Simple Rhyme" 🔥🤘🤘

Edward scraping the springs on the back of the guitar with the pick on the second fill at the beginning was definitely a first. Had anyone done that before or since?

I always thought this song would be a great intro for a big time wrestler! The drums starting out, then Eddie with his growling guitar! And then DLR coming in with that scream! And then they start playing together and that's when the wrestler comes out! Ready to give a beatdown! And the crowd gives a mighty roar!

Oh yes, hit Musicland bought this the week it was released. The first album just blew me away, the second one was decent, then this one was back on track and I still jam it. This one is full of jams. The next album Fair Warning was my favorite... thanks Biz loved the review.

This is a fantastic album! I got it only because Cradle will Rock was on it. Listened to that over and over again. This was in the days of vinyl. You had to go lift the needle to replay the song. A few times, I didn't get back in time to restart it, so I got to hear a little bit of the second song, eventually loved it just as much. That's how the whole album unfolded to me over time. One song at a time, only because I couldn't get back to the record player in time! The songs are just fantastic and bring me back to my jr high and high school days. Nobody was cooler than VH at that time!

I love this song! There’s hardly any lyrics to it but it’s Dave at his best. It’s a crowd pleaser, the crowd would go crazy when this was played. It’s one of those songs that Sammy wouldn’t do. Love the drum beat on this. Al is way underrated and it shows on this. This is what set VH apart from everyone else in Rock. No other band did songs like this. They couldn’t get away with it. Van Halen did it cause that’s what they did!
