You got that right, Sam, this means a lot to me as well. The sound, lyrics, band and the era all wrapped together makes this so special. I just read Van Halen Rising, it made me appreciate VH even more.
This is one of my favorites, and so many people I've turned on to it never heard it before. When I saw them in Las Vegas in 2003, Sammy was in great voice, the Van Halen Brothers were never better, and that night was Michael's Birthday! They did a 3 hour show at The Orleans Event Center, my wife and I had a fantastic time!
@@k.c.3567 yes, my mother took me to every Van Halen concert and many more growing up. All the way up until I was 17 and then I was able to start going on my own. I was 10 during my first Van Halen concert in 1978.
Van Halen was by far one of the very greatest rock bands ever to see live in concert in their prime with the irreplaceable and legendary David Lee Roth. They put on a phenomenal show. Little Guitars is truly one of their greatest songs ever.
They were good with Sammy Hagar. But the Van Halen with David Lee Roth is by far the real Van Halen to me… When I think of Van Halen, I think about David Lee Roth era! What a tight band they were.
I don’t know what it was about this song particularly, but this was one that I could play over and over and over, rest easy Ed 💔 these guys were the shit!! Good Times!!
Love Little guitars played on Little guitars. This is one of my favorite songs from Van Halen. Eddie Kills it. There is no mistaking the sound of Whom is playing that little guitar. ⚡🎸
john morris - God bless you!! Finally someone gets that the original VH is the real deal. Nothing against Sammy but, it's just not the real deal without the original line up to me.
I was there...I was a sophomore in HS! Sat on the catwalk above the stage. My dad worked there P/T and sat me in a chair up there while he went to do some things.
If i could only see one song played live, this performance would be it. The energy, guitars, drums, outfits, lyrics, melody, harmonies...this has it all
Saw them in Cola. SC on this tour either a few shows before or a few shows after. Doesn't really get any better if you're a Van Halen fan. They were definitely peaking and still enjoyed playing together. 17 at the time and they were the best rock band in the world hands down. The mini Les Paul and that red jumpsuit: Classic! And Dave Still had his voice! Good stuff man.
I am glad to say I got to see VH at their peak in the early 80's & you can tell from the clip there was never a band before or since that was more exciting to see live!!
I am so shocked still I love Van Halen so much. R.I.P Eddie Van Halen you beautiful amazing wonderful godlike unreal guitarist. Like so so many you will be dearly missed. He truly was along with Dimebag Darrell best there is best there was and best that ever will be. It is a testament to them than Eddie was so moved by there first meeting that he put his 79 bumblebee guitar in Dimes casket and he is with It forever. R.I.P Dime R.I.P Eddie my heart is broken and I am a little dead inside. I should have been born in the late 40s early 50s so I would be around all this greatness. My soul hurts.
Iwas there in 82 with a group of people from my highschool I was in 11th grade. We were on the left side of the stage, wow!! that was AWSOME ,! just mother fkn AWSOME!!!!!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😌!!!
for kids watching, video tapes had a knack for stretching and causing music to warble. no, the band wasn't THAT out of tune, most of that's the tape playback. still, thanks for posting... awesome.
Wondering around on yt, going from live performances, to interviews, to clips, and back again. I won't leave my EvH bubble for some time. R.I.P. King Edward
If you watch this and.....don't .......MISS EDDIE :( Something is wrong with you, Thanks Eddie for all the great music & memories You were 1 of a kind....Rest Well
I saw the show in 82 at the centrum . Eddie had a broken wrist. I didn't know but 4 Van Halen songs at the time so I didn't get to really appreciate the show as much as I could have. I wish I had because looking back at these RU-vid clips of that era ...this band was firing on all cylinders at that time!
Van Halen was sooo important to Rock N Roll. 1976-1980 really was the "Corporate Rock era with foreigner, journey, boston & Kansas, and although pretty good music, definitely lacking teethe and VH came along and gave it a kick in the head. True CA RNR and the likes of Motley Crue can thank them!
Music got so bad during the early to mid 70s, that the radio was playing tv show theme songs, and then Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Alice Cooper, Kiss and many others like you said came along in an explosion of modern day rock. The generation was right for it. My generation lol.
12 yr. old post--so I'll keep the comments up to date! I first saw Van Halen in Mpls, Mn. It was indeed the "Diver Down Tour!" I had just turned fourteen and it was my third concert ( the first was "Elvis" in '76, the second was "Joan Jett" -- "I Love Rock and Roll Tour"). I left the arena after watching the show from stage level, on Edward's side, a CHANGED PERSON!!! I've seen Elvis; SRV's last show at Alpine Valley, in '90 ( also went home with his pick from a front-row show of his just weeks earlier). "The Grateful Dead's" last two shows at Soldier Stadium, in '95. "Prince" numerous times ( starting with "Purple Rain" in Mpls.). "Clapton" five times, "M. C. Hammer" w/ "En Vogue. " Iron Maiden" front row for "Piece of Mind Tour." "Michael Jackson," "Janet Jackson", "Sade," "Fleetwood Mac," "Bruce Springsteen," "Born In The U.S. A. Tour." "Tina Turner," AC/DC," ( Angus Young's sweat in my eye when he was on the back of roadie/security dude out in the crowd), "Sabbath" and "Ozzy's" first reunion tour, "Ozzy w/ Randy Rhoads," "Blizzard Tour," etc. I began with some great shows I had seen ( to emphasize how incredible my First "Van Halen" show was) and had to stop at some point; I was enjoying my regression back to youth and live rock concerts ( along with sex, drugs, keggers..), and got lost in it--sorry. I put the old "Diamond Dave- Van Halen" live show on my elite short-list! "Prince," "Lenny Kravitz," "SRV," are on this list; maybe a couple more...who would you add to, or remove from, such a list?
I WAS AT THIS EXACT SHOW.. I HAD HEARD OVER THE YEARS THAT THERE WAS VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THIS CONCERT.. THE MAJORITY OF CONCERTS I WENT TO SEE IN MY YOUTH WERE AT THIS EXACT/PRECISE ARENA.. LED~ZEPPELIN IN 1975 WAS MY VERY FIRST CONCERT...WITH MY FAMILY..OLDER BROTHER'S AND SISTER'S..
As long ago as this was the Cap Center has now been gone for half that time. Rather than wonder where the time has gone I take strength from these guys still fighting the good fight.
Got to see them in Dallas when I was a sophomore in High Skool 😂 Fair Warning I also remember always listening to Little Guitars every time before I went work 16 year old bus boy at KBobs steak house 😂😂 Those days were magical just like a movie.
This was the Hide Your Sheep Tour supporting the Diver Down album. This was my *first* concert. I was 12yo. My mom took me to this show. San Antonio, Texas. The Hemisfair Arena. I got to see these guys at their *peak*. It was always Van Halen for me. My mom still remembers DLR's leather pants that had his ass cheeks exposed. 😂
