God I miss music like this. Roth may have had an ego the size of Montana but the music these guys made together was fucking priceless and untouchable. Long live VH with Roth
I always thought he looked out of place. Like they just ran down to a football field before a show and picked the first guy who could play bass and asked him to fill in. He just doesn't look rock n roll. Never did lol
@@louc6635 He was the glue that held it all together. If you're a musician most bass guys have this vibe always. The unassuming nature , it's the instrument plus how physical it is, breeds a certain type of person
Little do people know is that the sound that you hear in the back ground is Michael Anthony,s bass and voice he was the high end of there songs 🙂👍him and Michael Anthony were the heart beat of there music and Eddie was the voice of the heat talking and Dave was the presence that said here motherfuckers listen to what we can do ? 👍
Mean Streets was a beasty balls song for VH. The intro riff into the song is just so EVH heavy and unique. The riff into the solo is pure EVH loaded testosterone.. God mode riff's and lead guitar. One of their best songs that gets overlooked. RIP in peace Maestro Eddie.
I couldn't have said it better I agree wholeheartedly ... you know it's Eddie immediately.... oh and this is amazing clip from the 80s we'll never see anything like it again!
@@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 Eddie wrote this back in the 70’s under a different title called “voodoo queen” it’s on the Van Halen Zero Demo if you want to check it out. Another reason why mean street is the best Van Halen song 🎸🎸
The absolute best most bad ass song from any of the VH albums they had tons of killler songs but this one was like a rattlesnake mean and nasty SO PERFECT
Lip syncing but glad we have this years later. The music, the clothes, the hair, the fucking VanHalen attitude. Its a reminder of how you can go back and see how great the madness really was!
alex's drum sound is at its very best here. i particularly love the beautifully tuned, unmuffled toms that are particularly clearly heard right near the beginning.
I am. Was never into van halen so thought I'd take a look again. Still can't manage to sit through one song except jump.. every other song to me sounds like annoying noise.
@@janejanebobanebananafannaf2522 it’s not disrespect idiot it’s just a joke. As we all miss and love the god of guitar, that doesn’t mean we can’t make jokes still, but yes, in some cases it’s awkward and unnecessary. This isn’t one of those cases though, it’s just a light joke. This also goes for you too, @Gringo Loco
The 80's was about having a good time. This is a promo, not a video. If your not from the 80's you missed out on alot of fun. Dave's is a entertaining front man, and Eddie is one of the best dang guitar players ever. ✌
The thing about Van Halen is that it gives you that city type of rock n roll feel which I love. They're from Pasadena CA. They're basically a Los Angeles band. I'm from Los Angeles. I honestly in my opinion think David Lee Roth is one of the best front man I've ever seen. He had the hair, the voice and the moves to prove it.
There's not another heavy metal song anywhere that has ever existed that plays out like this one No other song comes on and exits so perfectly Every once in a while in life somethings come off perfect and Van Halen is a prime example
Karl Houseknecht I laughed at that, too. They made the effort in the first chorus to get close to the mic...then said we don't need no stinkin' mic, lol.
+Dave Nye Ovbiously not, no one can be Eddie except him, but sure there is great players out there, the thing is also that the rock and roll is not as huge as it used to be, wich is important to give status to the new players, just my opinion.
Van Halen: *The Best Guitar Player Of All Time! *The Best Rock Showman Singer of All Time! One Of The Greatest Drummer Of All Time! One Of The Most Creative And Greatest Bass Player Of All Time!
pauls skits and vlogs VH are hard rock, I agree. However, the band's I'm talking about came along later, they're not considered hard Rock. Ya know what I mean?
+Eganweeds garbage live.....really? What an utterly stupid thing to say. He wasn't the greatest player live as he was often under the influence but he still did great shows and played some songs perfect live. Page wasn't a dedicated practise player like later axemen but he was still very good when playing live at times. His back-catalogue of work beats any other guitarists and always will.
Yeah, he doesn't need all the drums for faking live performance. Actually, I've seen videos of him in studio earlier in the game and it was usually a basic kit, until women and children with the song Loss of Control, and later, hot for teacher, which included both double bass and electric trigger pads...
Thanks for ALL the rock EDDIE.🙉🙈🙊🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸lots of good times in HS and beyond to Van Halen.... Respect to WOLFIE, VAL, AND DRUMMER BROther ALEX. These guys were GEORGUS which turned me on to VAN HALEN to begin with, and then damn it if these beautiful guys were not talented as well. My room as a teenager was covered, and guess what at 50 I have an extra room in my house that still does. My teenage girl room is still here and I LOVE IT...
Oh yeah , good songwriting , great vocals and musicianship + stage prescence!! Most so called artists today dont even have talent let alone all those other things. Originals , other bands SOUND LIKE THEM!!!! Women & children first!!!!
Back in it's time it was the best rock album out there no one played the style that Van Halen played and the sounds and vocals is pure rock this is and still is my favorite of them
Awesome!!! Greetings, from Varginha, MG (ET Land) - Brazil At night I walk this stinkin' street Past the crazies on my block And I see the same old faces And I hear that same old talk And I'm searchin' for the latest thing A break in this routine I'm talkin' some new kicks Ones like you ain't never seen This is home ah! Mmm this is Mean Street It's our home Only one I know An' we don't worry 'bout tomorrow 'Cause we're sick of these four walls Now what you think is nothin' Might be somethin' after all Now you know this ain't no through street The end is dead ahead The poor folks play for keeps down here They're the livin' dead Come on down, huh! Down to Mean Street They're dancin' now, look! Out on Mean Street Dance baby! It's always here and now my friend It ain't once upon a time It's all over but the shoutin' I come to take what's mine We're searchin' for the latest thing A break in this routine Talkin' some new kicks Ones like you ain't never seen This is home ah! Mmm this is Mean Street It's our home Only one I know (This is home) See, a gun is real easy (This is mean street) In this desperate part of town (This is home) Turns you from hunted into hunter, yeah (This is mean street) You go an' hunt somebody down Wait a minute, ah (This is home) Somebody said "Fair warning, Lord" (This is mean street) Lord, strike that poor boy down!
Love this album they cant fake it for shit though Dave is dancing around while he is suppose to be singing clearly they were having a blast and didn't care who knew :-)
Thank god for Van Halen. They wrote the book and then shredded it in true rock and roll perfection. From the backyard parties in pasadena to the top of world.
This coming from a guy who plays EVH in a VH tribute band...VH one has some of their best songs ( but every album has fantastic songs that stand out) but Fair Warning has the most unique solos of all their albums!...it’s still mid boggling to this day! Nobody has done anything as experimental in rock since... seriously, ☺️
@@ChrisMontgomery-xtrmagamr sales wise it didn’t do so well but art isn’t based on its price tag right? Fair Warning is literally ever guitarist favorite VH record and then 1 & 2 ( arguably of course) but damn…that’s the album that gave Jeff Beck a run for his money ( RIP Jeff Beck)
+Bob Powers But Dave still wears the clown outfit better than anything anyone else in the band was wearing at the time. Dave WAS the clown prince of rock and roll - and he was the only member of Van Halen who undertood that what they were doing was fun and not the least bit important.. He embraced that role. Then Eddie got all serious and hired Gary Cherone and Sammy Hagar. Cherone was better in Extreme. Hagar was better in Montrose and even his solo albums. EVH was a dick who thought that he was an important artist. Maybe thirty years ago. Not any more.
Discoring (the program TV, you can see at the start of video) was a famous music program in Italy and all the artist make performance in playback ... much better so than nothing ... :)
They had to lip sync because back then they were HORRIBLE live, take it from someone who shelled out my hard earned cash 3 times to watch them. The Albums were awesome, but live they sucked
1 of the most successful bands in history.... I bet you are 325 pounds, 25 years old, living in your parents house. And mom still brings your meals to you.
