the poser wanna be class, he chased Randy Rhoads students away when filling in, but he is a great guy and great player, I never thought Doken was good enough for him
to be accurate, the class of bands like RAT POISON, etc but again, none of those bands are even good enough for him, he was born in the wrong period is what im saying.
I met Goerge at a show at Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston in late 2003.Lynch Mob just finished and George was in the audience. Before I could approach George, George approached me and I was pleasantly surprised. He asked me if I saw his set and I told him that YES I DID!!! And it was fantastic. He then asked me about the sound that Lynch Mob was given out front. I did go on to,tell him about what I heard and noticed about the sound and he seemed thankful for my intel and appreciation. He was very polite and I introduced him to my guitarist at the time, Mr. Rusty Cooley. He said he had already heard about Rusty and I introduced them I believe they had met before. But I must say that George has always been a huge part of my musical life. He is one of my top 5 most favorite guitarists of ALL TIME! Thank you George for everything Brother. As a teen, I wore out Dokken cassettes in my car as well as the old double speaker "boom boxes" as they were called....... Fast forward 30 years I had a life saving surgery in 2019, it was a monster of an experience. a few months later I was still in recovery mode and a friend of mine bought me a ticket to see Blandini that was featuring George Lynch and spent an extra $100 on me so we could have a meet and greet after the show (mistake)............ We were made to stand outside of the shuttle bus outside for almost 1 hour, I was getting really uncomfortable given my condition (to be fair it isn't like anyone could've known that or would care at the venue).......... We were finally told we could enter the bus if we wanted to. Mr. Lynch was seated at the front of the shuttle and he was drunk still drinking beer from a plastic cup. (again it was 2019, he claims he doesn't drink today, perhaps not?)......I won't go into the words said that night but George Lynch "drunk" is a smartass100%, I quickly realized it wasn't worth the time I waited...It wasn't my fault Lynch couldn't talk loud enough to be heard that evening......... Jeff Blando was exceptionally nice but I wasn't familiar with him, only learning he was Vince Neal's guitarist the day of the show, I am not a Motley fan, not even as a kid so,,, OK.............It's strange but that experience changed everything about me hearing Dokken music. I've been told it isn't always a good decision to meet the people you're a fan of for their talent because the "person" may not be a personality you'd expect. I now understand.......... I tolerated the show, thought it was cool being in a small venue seeing George Lynch, but looking back truly it was a mediocre show at best.
I just watched an interview George did with some cat with dyed black hair, and George was just brutal!! He just tore into the guy. This interview went way better.
I couldn’t do Don Dokken, but George is a monster. Jake E Lee, George Lynch and the G.O.AT Eddie Van Halen! He looks amazing for 70!!! Plays like a monster still. Eddie did again too on that last tour. Man I’m missing EVH! Thanks for this!
George is just the coolest guy, great great guitarist, and the man has such an interesting history on his own and being around rock legends!!! Almost 70? Guy looks amazing and is still playing like a legend himself!!! Thanks!
i ran into lynch in a hotel lobby at a NAMM (i think it was 2012 or 2013) one of my biggest regrets in life was not taking a moment (and risk?) to say something to him. but in the moment, i just couldn't come up with any kind of ice-breaker that i was certain he hadn't heard 27,341 times before.
George has matured exceptionally well - can't believe he's almost 70 here... the first 2 Lynch Mob albums were superb and not just for the playing but the songs were amazing too. Great to see him here and as someone already said here, another monster from the era.
I'll never forget the first time I heard EVH or the first time I heard George Lynch! It's cool to hear his stories and you always ask great Qs, Jeff! 🎸
I also think George lynch was one of the only guys with a style of his own back in the early 80's.. his long, crying lines and great rhythm playing caught my attention and 40 years later he's still evolving, working hard and sounding fantastic . 🤘
Great interview! We have pretty limited amount of recorded material from Eddie - and especially Randy - , but we are lucky to have over 50 albums worth of material from George. He may not be as famous or revered as the other two, however he is the only one still alive and putting out quality inspiration. George Rules!

George Lynch is 70!! Holy sh!t!! He has kept himself in great shape. Back in the 80's I had a huge love of Dokken because of George's insane playing and tone. He had his time as my favorite guitar player. I remember reading a Guitar World magazine article about George, and I remember it described George something like he stalked the stage like a praying mantis which I thought was so cool. No one played like him. Truly a legend. Really great interview. So cool to hear George's thoughts about Edward. You can obviously see a great love and respect George had for him.
One Leviathan shares memories of another. Mr. Lynch is always too humble. We would not have the (guitar) community we have today without both. Great interview, Man. Thanks. 🤘
EVH in his own category. BUT GL is to this day my #1 guitarist of this planet. Great interview for sure. I'm going to be 50 this month and both guitar gods (Dokken, LM & VH) have been a part of my life since im a kid buying their actual records.

Great interview! Imop…the late 70’s and 80’s were the greatest time for rock bands. To be fair I was 10 yrs old in 1980. So I was prime age for that scene. It was amazing!
@@tojorozombie Lol, George was never the guy... Eddie was the greatest. Randy was incredible. And then there was George. Nobody thought he was great ask Don Dokken or Ozzy. There's a reason nobody has wanted him.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! George is my favorite guitarist, and Eddie is right there too. My first concert was Van Halen in 1978 at the San Diego Sports Arena. George just said some of the most honest and insightful things than I have ever heard him say before. Very cool to hear him just talking for the most part and not in full interview mode.
This is FANTASTIC! George talks about not having much of a memory, but just hearing him weigh in on the earlier LA scene, players, influences, etc... It's cool to hear him put the whole Eddie/Randy thing to rest too. Randy was great for who he was, but EVH was really the game-changer for George. Randy, Warren, etc. No shame there. He changed everything for all of us.

I love how honest and articulate George is in this interview about himself and the other guitar players he talks about in this interview , George has been one of my most favorite players since I first heard in my dreams back in 83? The release of the first Van Halen album ended my Kiss love affair instantly and I began my metal journey starting with Van Halen. I love hearing the legends talk about each other with such respect and admiration, there isn't a lot of them left and I'm very grateful I can still hear and see one of my very favorites ,Thank you George for all that you've given us and continue to share with your music and memories. I had heard that Eddie was invited to participate in the Hear 'n Aid project, but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. Either he was on tour or had prior commitments.
Great interview. I saw Lynch Mob open up for Queensryche in 1990 in Amsterdam, it was phenomenal. Wicked Sensation was a great album!!! George Lynch Alex Skolnick Vinnie Moore Satch Vai EVH Bettancourt These were the guitarists of the 80’s that did it for me 🤟🤟🤟
His ONLY truly great album. George was fast, but for some reason only on one album did he get all the dimensions of playing guitar together. That's where the story ends.
@@warborn_inc. I'm glad you disagree and like it. That's what keeps music going. I did listen to those albums and they have good production and instrument tone and things going on. The songs and solos aren't melodicly outstanding imo. but still solid. That's fine, lots or most of music people listen to is like that.
Great interview...George was fantastic and very grounded/honest. He and ed were my favourite guitarists ever. I'd love to spend an hour with George, picking his brains about his tone on various tracks. Class act...
I’ve been saying for a while now that “When you’re a guy in your 20’s or 30’s long hair is cool…when you’re 50, it looks like hell.” But George is one of those exceptions, he can still pull it off.
Excellent interview! George has been one of my favorite players since the 80's. I met him at the Rickshaw theater here in Vancouver, after a Lynch mob show years ago, at the merch table. As he signed my Randy Rhoads book, I said Thank you very fucking much for Mr. Scary. He said- that was inspired by Randy. I said- I know! Nice, cool, soft spoken guy. And a Monster guitar player. He's one of the greats.
I was a kid when I saw George lynch in Dallas at a guitar fest and it blew the top of my head off. I love his playing and he was awesome when I met him. One of my all time favorite’s.
George Lynch on those two Blizzard of ozz albums Randy wrote with Bob Daisley: "fuck me, that was a whole other dimension.....to this day could just take deep dive and try to learn from.
I agree , it's rare George has been kind words to him. Randy was for me when I saw him, the concert the day of the seminar and I saw Ed in front row also. I just like Randy. I asked George at a Lynch Mob signing about Randy and he was so nice.
Just about every guitar player remembers where there were when they first heard Eddie. I had been trying to learn Michael Schenker's riffs and then one night in Feb 1978 sitting in my room listening to an FM station "here's a new band from L.A. called "Van Halen". Oh that TONE! It wasn't just the taps and dive bombs. Schenker had great tone but Eddie's was from another planet...

Saw Ed 3 times and in front row. Loved him, love George too.. Saw Randy on the Diary tour his musicality, playing , image ,performance worked for me more. Love all 3 but Randy is my #1. He never got the chance like Ed and George to go on to his potential. He was robbed.

George is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I saw Dokken open for Aerosmith New Year's Eve at the Worcester Central in Massachusetts And I caught one of George's guitar picks it had a skull and crossbones and on the other side it said George says have a nice day and unfortunately my sister threw out all my memorabilia that I had stored at the family home I've gotten several guitar picks from some of my favorite guitars in the world and that one hurt bad George was a huge influence on me in the '80s I had just gotten my first guitar and I wanted to be a mix of him and Eddie Van Halen I never accomplished either but lol. I'm still really bummed out about my sister tossing out all of my memorabilia collection. From guitar picks and autographs, concert shirts, ticket stubs and photos. George's guitar pick was the first one I had ever caught at a show it was very sentimental

@@saltpeter7429 I was very fortunate during the '80s and '90s my brother-in-law was good friends with the general manager of the Worcester Central I've seen pretty much every band you can imagine within the first three rows center and backstage The only band he couldn't get me into was Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughan Jeff Beck show and I wanted to meet Eddie Van Halen in the worst way just like most other aspiring guitarists
If you grew into Rock and played guitar in the 80s, you were influenced by, as I always call, The Big 3! Eddie, George, and Randy. Eddie was who got me into playing but @georgelynchofficial has been my favorite guitarist since. George’s tone is one the best as well.
Lynch... was always my favorite guitarist in the 80's, despite my love for EVH & Randy... saw him a few times back then, including Monsters of Rock with VH, Metalica, Scorpions... Kingdom Come... and was that it? I can barely remember. That was at Giants Stadium in NJ
I can’t believe he is going to be 70. Damn! He sure doesn’t look like it to me. I would have guessed maybe 61-2. He definitely started taking care of himself. I feel like he should have been in a much bigger band although I love Dokken! I just feel like he should have made it much much bigger. What kills ME about George Lynch was how physically big he got in the 90s the guy was ripped and he became this big moutain biker, and could still shred like no one, in many ways seemed he was trying to distance himself from that 80s Sunset strip scene, so glad George is still active and still one of the top shredders still out there.
There’s interviews where he talks about that time. His kids were into bodybuilding and he got into it. He readily admits to using steroids. He says they messed him up and he regretted it. He’s a great guy and one of my favorite guitarists.

He seems like a great guy, I’ve never gotten to see him and he’s doing the last tour. I hope I can make a show, he’s in my top 5 of the best in my lifetime easily.
It’s cool to hear about what certain music scenes were like. The LA music scene took a lot of twists and turns from the mid 60s into the mid 90s. I’m sure there are still great bands playing the clubs there that get overlooked…..but back in the 70s, so did VH,Quiet Riot, Runaways, and even more so, bands like George mentioned A La Carte. Now is the time to get those interviews because none of the people who were there are getting any younger!!
I knew Mr Lynch at NAMM in 2020. I had a pic with him, remember I told him my name was Ruben, and he told me, like the sandwich jajajajaj, never forget.
George Lynch will always be the best guitar solo I have ever seen in my life when he toured in 1984 with Dio maybe 85 Eddie Van Halen will always kick ass. I remember hearing them in 1978 for the first time.
Ed added more chorus to his sound for 5150 and kept it that way until the end.. His early sound was amazing from Fair Warning back but if you saw the Balance tour, his tone was HUGE. Never better before and never the same after.
George was the inspiration for me to have an all leopard print guitar including neck and board made by Roscoe and I believe George even played it at Namm moons ago lol …would love to have one of his original tiger guitars
