What a great opportunity for you Van. Total immersion in foreign land with a worthwhile goal to represent BMX. I'm sure you'll do a magnificent job and as a lifelong bmxer I feel safe that bmx legitimacy is in your hands. You are going to learn a lot over the next couple of years including about yourself.
Been a fan since I saw you in Road Fools back in the day. Really happy to see you representing BMX, you definitely deserve it! It will be the first time I actually watch the Olympics if BMX is on haha.
This is an incredible step forward for the sport of BMX. Also, can you imagine how hilarious it'd be if he got approached by police/authorities for riding street? Van whips out his 'BMX Freestyle Discipline Manager' card and they have to leave him alone, lol.
Sweet. To be honest. I can't help but think the Japanese people don't take too kindly to people riding on their building properties. Never been there, so I obviously don't know how it goes down. But I do know that Japan is a pretty strict and clean place when it comes to their society and public places. I know there's bad things that happen there. But it's not really like anywhere else. I've seen videos of Yakuza sweeping up broken glass bottles that they broke in public while doing some kind of thing, and apologizing to the people that were near where the glass broke while cleaning it up. That's wild.
