Thanks, nice to see those places again. I stopped off at Bourton after I left Bath, last year. Yes, it was busy in June, and I didn't go in the car park because you had to pay electronically and I don't do that. I use cash. I found a parking spot in a residential street. I made a short video but it was difficult with so many people around. I didn't stop at Stow, but found a smashing place called Batsford Park. It's an Aboretum not far from Moreton in the Marsh. I can recommend that if you are ever down that way again. Enjoy your travels. ilona

Thank you Ilona 😊 It looks like we followed the same path as you then almost! Good idea about the residential street, that's one way around it. The same as you, Bourton was quite tricky to film due to so many people, it was much easier once we went off walking. I (Dan) love an arboretum so a shame we missed that! We will be back I'm sure though. Luckily the Cotswolds is quite easy to reach. Thanks for the recommendation 😁❤

Wow 🤩 The Cotswolds walk looked incredible! Exploring those cute villages like Stow-on-the-Wold feels like stepping into a fairytale ✨ Totally get you about the parking situation in Bourton-on-the-Water though, a bit 😬 for tourists! But The Slaughters sound sooo charming 😍 And that cruffin 🤤🤤🤤 - I gotta try one of those now! Thanks for sharing your adventures! Can't wait to see what's next! ➡ ➡

Good Morning and thank you! 😊 Now Scotland is wonderful, but it's nice to know even when you get to experience all of that you can still be impressed by English villages and scenery 😀 😂 The walk was perfect, and some of the buildings and river (especially by the water mill) in Slaughter (I forget which one) was as pretty as anything we saw in Stow and Bourton. Stow though completely stole our hearts 💕 Never had a crufin before but they were divine beyond belief - a cake mixed with pastry of sorts 😋 Thank you for watching 🥰

Thank goodness for the honey pot tourist traps, they soak up vast numbers, leaving places just as interesting and beautiful to be explored in peace. I remember spending a hot Easter in the Cotswolds finding lovely spots, only to drive through Boughton on the way back to our camp site, sometime between 6pm and 7pm, to still find the place chock a block with day trippers many paddling in the stream. We returned a few years later, again at Easter, much cooler this time but just as busy. I took one look at the parking charges and was off at the double! Only wanted to visit the car museum, but luckily I had visited some years ago.

@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
You're not wrong there, there's definitely a benefit to these places if they mean others are less well-trodden and able to be enjoyed more as a result. It's tricky, as it's nice to see places doing well, but being among crowds is never great fun in areas that aren't really designed for that. Don't blame you with the parking, I think Stephen wanted to do the same but I was determined to do that walk 😂

Ah thank you ladies 🤗 Really pleased you liked the music - it's often the most time consuming part of a video to do I find so I'm glad if people enjoy it. There are a couple of motorhome specific spots in the car park in Stow (a bit slopey though) so you should be able to visit and stay no problem I think 😁

Another enjoyable video guys evoking memories of my previous visits to the Cotswolds. I can recommend Broadway and surrounding areas if you're a little further north in that place. Car parking in tourists areas is a nightmare. My gym is on Brighton Seafront where the costs to park on Madeira Drive is £9 for just 2 hours!!! Best wishes to you both. Carry on 'vanlifeing'. Gary. xx

Cheers Gary, we didn't realise how big the Cotswolds was, so still so much to see when we go back! Broadway is on the list 😁 Bloody hell at that parking, I've just had to give Stephen a paper bag to breathe into! Love Brighton but that's some insane charges there! 😲

Thank you Joanne, the door was the very definition of a fairytale, and it's easy to believe Tolkien was inspired by it. It's worth seeing regardless, but yes I expect it's even more captivating in the spring and summer! 😍

Thank you for your kind words and for watching us 🥰

Great video guys love the banter . Totally agree Stow on the wold is much noce than Baughton which never go in the summer to Boughton as its like little China with all the tour buses . Safe travels guys ❤❤

@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
Thank you Alice 🤗 We were very surprised how much we preferred Stow in the end - but even right down to finding it more attractive in general. Bourton is still lovely, but mostly because of the bridges of course. I cannot imagine facing that place in the summer 😂 I think if anyone does, the circular walk to the Slaughters would be a great way to "dip into" Bourton whilst escaping some of the busyness (and the Slaughters are very much worth the effort walk wise ❤)

Thanks Linda 🥰 Haha the tea subject is very controversial 😂 I'm glad we're not alone though in doing it that way! We really don't mind it the other way either, but no one is ever going to convince me there's a drastic difference in taste whichever way you do it 😂

Love it! This video … too cute these 2 towns … I do have 1 question - hahahaa - how do you guys take your shower? Like in the van or outside? Yes I heard of that door, and agree 100% how magical it looks. Annnnnd gosh the music that you incorporated - I feel like a wizard in Tudor ages now, ready to dance around the Bon fire … well done boys!
@comealongdear
@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
Good Morning! 🌞 Thank you kindly 🙏 Really happy you enjoyed the music, in fact we'll be joining you in the dance around that bonfire 😄 As for showers, although our van has one, unbelievably for its size, we don't use that as there's too much stuff stored in there! And just generally too fiddly. What we do is shower on campsites or in motorway service stations usually. So although we don't shower every day now (but really, do you need to?) we don't go *too* long without. Thank you again for watching and the lovely feedback 😍

I ain't knockin it at all, cuz they make for good veiwing, but when they start charging stupid money, then ur average joe will probably be like nah sod that. But having said that, great vid. Keep up the good work lads.

Steve does seem to suffer from 'Shit On The Liver' a lot bless him. It doesnt make him any less charming and I'm sure he can be gracious when the need arises. 😇 Christ we cant all be a little ray of🌞. Those villages are tourist meccas, imagine what the commercial rents are! That cake shop was beautiful, I'm sure the money just falls out of your pocket as you cross the threshold. 😉 Maybe the paper on the cake was edible too? Keep having fun and inviting us along please. 🙏
@comealongdear
@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
Morning and thank you 😊 Haha shit on the liver? Is that a metaphor for drinking too much?! 😂 Ah now Stephen can definitely be gracious, but it is most unbecoming of him 😉 Hopefully we try to balance it out between us, not just in videos but in our daily lives together. I imagine it's extortionate to live/run a business in Bourton, but, judging by the crowds, you'd presumably have a good chance of doing well. We felt much more comfortable in Stow - it drew us in more and therefore we were more inclined to indulge in the coffee shop/bakery. We took one look (and smell) and practically threw our money at the lady working there 😆 Pricey, but worth it this time. Thanks again 🥰

@@tomcat7525 oh that's nice of you to say, well I wouldn't consider myself particularly book nerdy compared to some, but I do love reading, more as I get older and have enjoyed branching out into things I wouldn't normally have considered reading. I did (and still occasionally do) try a bit of writing too and I suspect I'll come back to it. Oh I googled "shit on the liver" and see it's primarily an Australian saying, so that now makes sense 😉😁

So much to say, firstly if Stow on the Wold gets a Stephanie seal of approval then we are glad it's on our list. Secondly, what did you put in those sandwiches? Looked like gherkins were involved! Thirdly, grass roof 😲 Fourth point, Alison is disappointed you didn't check out the chocolate shop in Stow on the Wald... And we all know how she gets over chocolate. 🧹 Thanks as always, we love the Cotswolds and you guys, Alison & Darren 🤟♥️
@comealongdear
@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
Thank you guys! If Stephanie/Stevie/Stefan/***** likes something, I would say you're onto a 10/10 winner by most regular standards 😄 You would both adore Stow - the door, the buildings, the bakeries. It's beautiful (handy large Tesco around the corner too 😆). I don't know why we didn't check out the chocolate shop - possibly because we knew we weren't likely to buy any that day and wanted to make a beeline for the bakery cafe. But looking back I wish we had as it seems to be fairly renowned. There's a fantastic organic type shop there too which we loved looking around and bought a few bits (not as fun as chocolate or pastries though 😉). Yes it was gherkins in the rolls 😁 They pair perfectly with tuna (acquired taste though maybe?!). Cheers guys, lots of love ❤️ xx

Olde worlde villages are so very pretty, most of us hanker after a simpler life & the stone buildings appeal to our sense of escape from the modern hurley burley. I love to see them but not the cars, people & noise which I'm trying to get away from. If you use Nikwax products on your footwear they'll be more water resistant & last longer - all their stuff is vegan, not tested on animals, widely available & I always treat new footwear before wearing. Just mentioned because everywhere is so wet at the moment! Enjoyed the video as usual 👍❤
@comealongdear
@comealongdear 6 месяцев назад
Ah that's a great tip thank you! I'm hoping my new walking boots are waterproof but it can't hurt to treat them with that. Sounds like a great product. Agree with you about olde worlde villages, everything we saw (well, not Bourton maybe 😂), especially in Stow and Upper/Lower Slaughter, really appealed to that "perfect picturesque" life of escape, almost like a fairytale - often not real, which is why we crave it more perhaps. Still, it's wonderful to walk around and experience that, it creates a sense of peace all in itself ❤

😂 While the ever so classy wee bottles do have to be stashed out back, I think there is just a large water bottle and the remains of either cider or ginger ale in what's seen here (I can't remember which, but we are known to buy both)
