Healthy meal (tuned to van life): Low-carb wheat tortilla, with chicken, Goya Low Sodium Dark Kidney Beans, sharp cheddar, diced onions, thinly sliced cucumber, and tzatziki sauce. And, of course, add as much spice (I like freshly ground black and white peppercorns) and hot sauce as you want! Cheers, Sev
Wow! The moose sighting was so unexpected and incredible! Not sure if you have a grill, but chicken breasts marinated in Italian salad dressing and then grilled is so delicious. You can make extra and do lots of other dishes with leftovers. Boring, I know lol. You can also grill veggies. Anyway, another interesting video. You and Cassie are amazing!
Thank you!!! It was definitely shocking to see the giant cruising by so calmly!! I will try that on a park grill some time!! I’ve been meaning to do that!
Dude? That chest "freezer" is super sick! Safe travels brother and keep up the progress with Cassie she looks like she's getting better with you by the day!
Thank you so much Rob!!! Seriously appreciate you supporting both channels ❤ I love the fridge!! It’s ram everyday for almost 3 years no issues! Thank you, Cassie can be embarrassing at times being a spazzoid lolol trying to manage it before it’s too late
Hi Dan, enjoy watching you and Cassie’s adventures! My favorite to eat is taking Fresh or frozen broccoli carrots, potato’s tossed in a bowl with some olive oil spread on a tray and just roast in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes until they brown edges! So sweet and delish! Salt and pepper to taste!
Absolutely loved this one!! So happy to see your everyday life on the mountain! But that moose!!!! Yikes!!! Cassie is doing Great and the van looks awesome!
You crack me up! I’m glad the bathroom visitor didn’t try anything! They can do some real damage! Also, the only healthy meal I can think of besides a salad, would be oatmeal. Haha! I hate cooking! I could survive off of sandwiches and cereal, no problem! 🤓
Hey Dan. Thanks for the video, I really like what you're doing with the channel so far. For me personally, I enjoy to see how a van's systems are used in real life scenarios, so you're really catering to my interests. As far as training for Cassie goes, I have a thought or two... I'm on my third dog now (yes, two devastating heartbreaks in my past and at least one in my future, haha) and I have a good bit of experience in dog training now. There is definitely no "one size fits all" in regards to training. Each of my three dogs have required a different approach because they've all had their own unique personalities. They were all female by the way too, not that it makes much of a difference in training, male vs female, but it is a factor to recognize and adjust to. The more important factors are things like aggressiveness vs timidity, confidence vs unsureness, etc. There is a modern tool that can help you out immediately though with Cassie. A higher end "shock collar" with remote (worn on a lanyard around your neck). And, most importantly, it must have a "vibration" and a "beep" function. You really don't even have to shock your dog ever, once you've trained your dog to respond to the beep or vibe (whichever they're more responsive to). The nice thing about them is if you ever have to shock your dog, they'll know that it's because you want them to stop in their tracks immediately, period! And, they will, if trained correctly. That's only to stop them from hurting themselves. As in running out into traffic. Or, just as dangerous, chasing a deer, or even worse, bear, moose, badger, wolf, etc. Or, worse for you yourself... Skunk!! :) I don't wish that on anyone, especially in a "van situation", haha. Just make sure to only put the collar on Cassie when she's out and about. When you guys are tucked into the van for any amount of time, the collar always comes off. The prongs will irritate their neck skin because of the rubbing factor if it's left on too long. Also, it's important in the beginning, to make sure the collar is fairly tight. It will almost seem too tight, but you need a good connection with the prongs against their skin to protect them from danger if a shock is required. Once, the initial training is done and they're used to it and responding to the vibe or beep, you can slack it off a bit. Well, best of luck to you and Cassie and I hope you guys find your groove. Keep in mind, all dogs will naturally get "better behaved" with age, so at least you guys have that going for you :) Cheers, Sev PS - Back when I had my first dog, the word "Zoomies" wasn't coined yet. My friends and I just called it "Idiot Dog Mode" :)
Thank you for the thoughtful comment!!! I actually just got a shock collar I had from an old dog, plugged in today and going to test it out to see if it still works!! I appreciate the input and kind words!!!
Hahahaha I think many van lifers aren’t as much neat freaks but do a good job at hiding the mess, I ain’t got nothing to hide hahah. Although you guys help me hold myself accountable to not let the van be a pig sty hahah. But it really does take the smallest about of mess or clutter in a van to make it feel chaotic, so that’s why a lot of people do so well at keeping the van clean
Another laugh out loud for Cassie😂❤ I can’t believe you’re not afraid of bears! I will never see one here in Houston Texas.. but I’m deathly afraid of them 😮 the weather looks so nice there it’s 100+ here🥵🤬 can NOT wait for fall and winter. That moose was awesome and huge! Healthy foods are veggies and lean meats..I have to eat them because of a bad gallbladder..but anyway I love the videos 👍😎🌅
100+ sounds horrid!! Hahaha but also I’m missing a nice hot beach day! Thanks for watching and the comment! I was scared of bears until my last 3 encounters, now I am 100% confident they aren’t out to hurt anyone, as long as you’re not asking for it they’re fine sharing their mountain with us!
Stuffed peppers. It’s just ground turkey browned with garlic, brown rice, and tomato sauce. My kids eat just that, no peppers. I put it in colored bell peppers and bake just a few minutes. Serve with shredded cheese. Cool moose encounter! And as always, Cassie is the star!
Watching that moose encounter was amazing but I also worried about Cassie. I love when you change things up and we get to see whatever you decide to do.
I was also more worried for Cassie than myself! I appreciate you saying that, I feel guilty not having a good day plan for videos, and you guys having to live through my indecision lol
I have recently gotten a blackstone 22inch griddle its awesome for cooking, and under 200 bucks, its really good for cooking anything from eggs to burgers to stakes, and small and portable, table top would be great for outdoor cooking to keep the mess and smell out of the van. Just an idea . . . can be ran off 5 lb or 20 lb tanks
Cassie too cute doing every trick she knows. My boxer does the same when she gets excited which is every time she gets a treat. Plus the drool is massive LOL!
My favorite healthy meal is grilled chicken with a side salad, hope your enjoying the wild out there, be careful that Cassie don’t get to frisky with the moose.
Great video from you and brave Cassie, the Moose chaser. Chicken salad wrap is my go to when I need a healthy quick bite, or I serve it up with some rice or home made potato wedges if I want more of a meal . Now I’m off to my bed! Ha ha! See you Sunday 🙂
I’m honestly proud that she stood so strong, sucks that she would have chased it most likely, but Cassie used to be afraid of fire hydrants after being rescued. It’s cool to see how confident she’s become!
@@DanVanLife It is a bit of a scary thought and the moose was probably confused because she stood her ground and barked and you were , Erm… otherwise engaged, so it thought better than to approach the crazy/noisy dog and strange guy sat on the toilet in the woods…. I bet it’s first thought was, “ nope, not today, just keep walking and pretend you didn’t just see that….” 😂 She’s such a brave and happy girl and her confidence is all down to the time, patience and love that you have given to her.
Dan, it's called "going with the flow"! It would help if you use a consistent one word command for any behavior you desire from Cassie. It helps make it clear to her exactly what behavior you are wanting from her! "Cassie, Come", using a firm voice is your best bet to get her attention constantly! Since you are still in the beginning stages of consistent recall, a treat every time is important. Also, it is very important that it is pleasant for her to come to you! A treat, and "good girl" along with pets will make her desire to do what you are asking of her. It will get confusing if you mix it up, "come on Cassie", "come over her, Girl", "get in the van". Way too many different commands for what behavior you are looking for..."Cassie, come!". Especially in the summer, I really enjoy big salads! Lots of fresh veggies and other tasty stuff makes my stomach happy!
Hahaha the flow changes directions quickly in my life 😂🤣 I’ve been finding that the more I train her actually!! I’ve limited her vocab to Cassie Come, COME, sit, Stay, Wait, Up, Down, Load Up, and of course Good! Sundays video will show a little bit more of that, I just edit most out because no one wants to hear me hollering sternly at the dog I feel hahah
Hi Dan, Just to let you know that I’ve followed the link and ordered one of your t shirts . It’s coming up as August/September for delivery to Uk. If it works it works, if it doesn’t then I tried! Ha ha! Oh and you really need to up your prices! Good luck with your new merch project … If this works I will definitely be ordering more from you. Gotta support life’s good guys!! 👍🏻
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! You would not believe how insanely excited I was to see your order!!! There’s definitely a chance I’m not profiting on across the pond orders, I have no idea what I’m doing with the website 😂😅, sadly I do agree, I think I’ll need to up the price a wee bit, I just personally never buy new clothes, so I hate to sell high priced clothing I wouldn’t order myself (bc I’m such a cheapo) lol thank you x1000000
@@DanVanLife Aw I’m so pleased that the link worked , I only ordered it to test it out for you and to show a little support, so much so that I don’t have a clue about the sizing as uk sizes are different, so I picked a bigger size, thinking better bigger and baggy than too small 😂 The price was showing in pounds sterling, so I’m not sure how much that is to you, but maybe think of adding at least an extra £8-£10 , more depending on the quality,on top of what you’re charging when it comes to your new t shirts ( if that’s what you are going with….. but please still consider a range of Cassie 360 bandannas 😁) Anyhow, if shipping is a problem, I would love it if you could donate the t shirt to someone in need ( someone having a bad day, someone down on their luck or whatever) , I don’t want you losing out and it would be good to pay it forward . Not that I don’t like your t shirts, they look really cool, but as I’ve said , it was ordered to support you ( not bankrupt you before you start! Ha ha!)
Please carry when your out there unprotected. May think about getting Cassie a e collar, if you only use it for a solid recall. I train with them all the time if you use it right it is just like someone taking you on your shoulder to get your attention. I have actually used it in myself because I would never want to hurt one of my pups. Think about getting a block of cheese. It stays fresh a lot longer and good for a quick snack alone or with crackers. Also to slice for a sandwich. I like salad you can throw some cheese and almost anything in there as long as you don’t use high calorie dressing. Stir fry is also healthy. Have to try and stay away from premade foods for healthy eating. Lots of fruit and veggies best time of year for them. Loved seeing the moose. I don’t have a join button 😢
Thank you!!! I actually just pulled out an old e collar today and it’s charging right now, might give it a shot! I need to try making some salad ASAP! I almost never have
@@DanVanLife just make sure you use it in the lowest she can feel. That way you can s turn up a little if you have a emergency situation. Normally if you train her with the electric collar you will only need to use it when the dog is really distracted . That way she will always respond to you. Best way to proof the recall is evertime she is a distance from you call her back to you. If she comes back immediately big praise. If he hesitates even a little bump her with the collar until she comes to you. After a she should come to you if a bunch of squirrels where running around your van🤣. Hope it works love hiking with my dogs off leash. But never know what you are going to run into. So they need to leave it and come back to me.
Very cool moose encounter Dan,I bet it got your blood pumping,my favourite healthy meal is chicken salad wraps, can't wait to see your bear encounters, nice little mid week vlog awesome Dan keep up the great work ☺🤗
Dan, you are so brave! There is noooo way I would be there. That thing can push your van in any direction. Please be safe you & Cassie. Much luv from South Florida ❤️
You can get pretty decent frozen vegetables even mash potatoes. Bird's eye do some really tasty frozen salmon fillets you can bake in the oven they're honestly pretty tasty. That's an easy healthy tasty meal you can have handy in the freezer. Loving your videos
Can't agree more with your opinion of 'Hot Water Heater'. Here's another thing; there's no such word as 'unthaw' if a thing unthaws it's actually re-freezing. Wicked moose!!
That moose encounter, just wow. Whilst you sitting on the throne. Cassie is a good girl keeping alert. I you should try pan fried or baked salmon with potatos and asparagus or brocoli. Stay safe Dan and Cassie. X
Definitely proud of her for standing her ground and telling the moose to keep on moving!! I Will absolutely be doing some sort of fish cooking soon! A few suggested a similiar meal, and that sounds like a truly good meal, not just another burrito haha
A good and probably simple healthier meal might be pepper steak strips. You could use chicken or both. Get a wrap or Naan bread. Loving the videos, Cassie is too cute doing all the tricks.
You had protection in your hand for a cat, that shovel with the pick 90 degrees. The cat may leap but furnish you with an underside of her neck and abdomen. Cassie’s a ham! Meals are healthy? 🤣
Wow!! That moose totally freaked me out. I thought for sure you were gonna be in trouble. Cassie is doing so good and she is so beautiful. I like to eat "vegetable medley ". Its carrots, squash, zucchini, onions, cabbage, garlic and broccoli. All cut up and put in a pot with some chicken broth. Its light and healthy. You could add chicken to it if you want a heartier meal. Love your videos. Stay safe. Hugs to you both! ❤
Holy moly !! I literally held my breath till that moose went off. Thank you, LORD. 🙌 I can only imagine how fast your heart is beaating. 😮 The van looks really nice, Dan. I'm gonna go check out your merch from the other channel. If I heard right. Take care of each other. Hugs and prayers from Arkansas. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 P.S. I really, really enjoyed this video. It's about as real as it gets. P.S.S lmbo @ your atrempt to one handedly crack an egg. 😂 Someday, I've gotta learn about your souped up Mario Kart. 😊 You and Cassie are so great. I love it. 🥰 HEALTHY MEAL : Chef salad Stir fry over cauliflower rice Grilled or baked chicken w/fresh or frozen veggies Shrimp linguine Baked fish (no batter or breading) w/roasted asparagus Try making a simple vinaigrette to switch up from heavy dressings. Grill or bake hearty root vegetables to go with any protein. Hope this helps a lil bit. 😃 P.S.S.S Your store looks great. I love the t-shirts and can't believe how inexpensive inexpensive they are !! Great job, Hun. 🌟
Hahahahahahah thank you for the great comment as always, souped up Mario cart is hilarious and I absolutely will be stealing that term to use from here on out! I’ve gotten good at doing things left handed with 4 years of shoulder injuries, cracking an egg is not one of the things I got good at😂 thank you for all the food ideas, I will be doing a video using peoples comments for food soon!! DansGamingVan RU-vid has all the infos on the sim racing rig! I am still totally unsure how the tshirt shop works, unsure of pricing and shipping costs, I might be loosing money with how it’s set up right now because I’m so clueless, especially for over the big pond orders to UK
❤❤😊😊❤❤ I'm just going to say thank you because I'm new to RU-vid, and you're really made it interesting. It's nice to connect with this young person who has goals and dreams in life. I feel like I had a great life and I want to help you have one too😊 Thanks for responding to my comments, I'm trying not to take app too much of your time I understand if you cannot always comment. Don't worry about it, okay? I dont get my feeling hurt very easy, ha ha. Really not at all. I always give people the benefit of the doubt
Great video! That moose scared the $hit out of you! Lol (had to) Hum, healthy meals, not my forte but a local restaurant makes an awesome wedge salad and I add their smoked turkey breast strips for protein. 🤷♂️
Absolutely!! That’s in the top 3 merch ideas I want to get out ASAP!!! Just set up the Etsy store to test things out before investing in paying an artist to help!
The helicopter was a UH-60 Blackhawk, most likely with the National Guard, they do search and rescue, and air medivac in remote areas. The US Coast Guard does the same thing up in Alaska. I see them doing their thing all the friggen time.
@@DanVanLife Yeah, all the western states have this in their National Guard. If you search on here for Mt Hood helicopter rescue, the top 2 results will show you an amazing rescue and one that went horribly wrong.
He couldn’t have cared less!! Glanced over at us like “someone shut that dog up”.. if I can ever reel in a trout I want to do fish tacos catch n cook video!
I was late on your videos. Holy moose! I live in Maine , so there's a lot here. I always forget how big they are. My fave healthy meal is eggplant parm
Bullion cobes (oxo) or “better then bullion chicken flavoured. Add this to your broth after you strain out the chicken bones, add some.. then taste.. add until happy. Now add any veggies you like to the soup, anything goes (even chicken meat if you like). It’s very easy.. super healthy for you and a great way to use up bones. Good luck! Oh.. and take discarded bones out and away from Cassie.. much to tempting and dangerous. Thanks for the reply.. have a decent week.
I'm a phase commenter. I cannot hold everything in for one giant remark. Sorry. I loo Cassie. I'm also catching up on your shenanigans cuz I was "away" for a bit. I missed the whole finding a dog situation. Ditch anything that causes injury in the van...the brand new cups you don't use. K, I'm 😊done for now.
No judgement, just tips. Pet kibble dehydrates the intestines and organs as it's digested. Please try to incorporate or fully replace kibble with fresh meat & veggims. It's cheaper than feeding premium kibble, life-extending and healthier than junk chipple (potato chips for pets)!
@@DanVanLife wow that’s crazy. I would love to hear that story in one of your videos someday also my Weimaraner was a little tough to off leash train. I had to temporary use a shock collar to get him to stop dashing off when he saw other animals, but I only had to use that for about a month. I know those collars are frowned upon, but it really doesn’t hurt them, and when he would dash off towards other dogs, that would stop him and then he would come back.
I am 25! I went straight into work after high school and owe a lot of experience to that, to not spending 4 years goofing around in college like I had considered doing haha
@@DanVanLife souvlaki is cut up and seasoned meat and grilled it on skewers. Cut up meat cubes about an inch cubed on one day and marinate them for a night or two then cook it up when you're ready. You can choose your favorite meat to do it with. It cooks through pretty quickly and becomes tender and delicious.
Hey, great video. Did you know that moose attack people way more than bears? I don't know about healthy but I like meat and taters with a veg and I've made it to 71 (by the grace of God)
Yup!! Black bears supposedly have hardly killed anyone in Colorado according to my friend! They’re more worried about our food, rather than us as food! Hahahab it seems a lot of people who eat good food, live long!
Hello Dan. My name is Mark Watson of badger woodcraft. I was watching your latest video, and you said something about making cutting boards and selling them. How about I make them for you and we split the sales. I do beautiful work and I use exotic woods. Please let me know what you think, thank you.
Hey mark!! Thank you for the offer and thought!!! As of now I’m looking to do the work myself for fun, but hopefully with the channel growing and someday sales ramping up, I may be looking for something like that!
