XPO. 80cpm 35cpm deadhead. 35 CPM for dead move to a better area. At current, 12 CPM fuel surcharge. with a big sprinter. It's slow during the winter so I'm not making a whole lot but I live in the van and I'm still making enough to be happy. When it's busy during the summer months, the van has the potential to make 2500 to $2, 600 a week after expenses

If you can make about the same in the sprinter van why drive a semi? I've been driving for 9 years but would rather drive a sprinter if pay is better so I'm looking into it now
@xcfitzx

@@mdmoore1984 The average sprinter driver is not making anywhere close to the average truck driver. I promise you that. The only sprinter drivers who are making good money, are the ones lucky enough to get with a top tier expedite company, which is really hard to do since the good companies have long wait lists.

The only way to survive is to drive for a company that pays enough for you to return home after every load. I make 1.20- 1.75 CPM. I sleep in hotels, not my van. Been expediting for 12 years. High paying companies are out there. Never drive for a company that gets loads off of load boards. It's cheap freight.
@MyLifesVentures

if you have your own authority, theres a difference, youll never find this being simply an owner/op. im looking into getting my own authority off in the future, takes awhile to obtain all the necessary components, contacts etc.
@1962KSR
@1962KSR 7 лет назад
My Life's Ventures .. You don't need your own authority. I don't have it. You need to find a local transportation company that has its own local customers. Im an independent contractor for Team Worldwide. They have offices all over the country, in most major cities. Running a load and then sitting for days is not the way to go. Most of my loads are day trips and any long distance is out and then right back home the next day. It beats living in a van and the pay is much better because my company wants me back home because it's where their customers are. Good luck to you. Driving for brokers who get business off of load boards doesn't work. The driver gets screwed every time.
@MyLifesVentures

you wanna shoot me a private email or message, i am never to good to be educated on things im unsure or aware of such as this. Maybe we could swap numbers and have a talk? I spoke to that company funny enough and they say you NEED your own authority. insurance etc. You say no?
@1962KSR
@1962KSR 7 лет назад
My Life's Ventures All of Teams offices are independently owned so maybe each one is different. My best advice is just check out local trucking companies that also expedite and have their own customers that use them on a regular basis. Even local courier companies do a lot out of town expediting. The work and pay will be more steady. Good luck and stay safe out there.

You should have a pretty good idea of how your #'s average out in a average week. You know, "basically", how much you will bring in, how much your cost to be out on the road will be and how many miles you will run. If you didn't, you would hang it up by now. (Not trying to be a contrarian, it's just business)

So you made a 10 minute video titled , " How much do I make?", to say one thing , 10 different ways, and didn't say how much you make. You could have easily said what your average per month is, or the least/most you've gotten per mile, or per mile average. Or spared us this 10 minute video and made it a 1 minute video and said "the pay varies" (which I'm sure most people already know) then end the video. I learned nothing from this video except not to watch anymore videos of yours. Pointless video, unless you enjoy watching someone sit in a van and make coffee. But hey, stay safe on road
@thatguyonabicycleofconsurv3908
And tell ppl that they can get a allowance at tax time... but your saying a lot about nothing lol

I’ve always worked on commission and never looked at my pay on a weekly basis. There are times when you don’t make anything, I mean 0 dollars, for weeks and then the last week of the month it all hits. I see this as a commission job. I’m about to start expediting and I’m expecting to have bad weeks. What I haven’t seen anyone talk about is their monthly income. I expect the swings in pay from month to month will be less than it is from week to week. Please tell me what your experience is month to month: Thanks
@mikestavale6673
@mikestavale6673 3 года назад
So you just said here is how much I make in the title but you simply forgot to mention how much you actually make? Wasn't that the whole point of making the video?? I'm a contractor and I don't make the same amount of money on weekly basis however I know and I can tell you how much I make a month and per year. Don't waist our time with hypothetical answers what you could make and what I've made. Get straight to the point.

@kipamore
@kipamore 7 лет назад
I hate to be a nit picky dick about this, but you didn't actually answer the question the title implies. The correct answer, for most of us leased to a carrier, is 1000-1500 miles a week, and $1000-1500 a week. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but I have 2 sprinters (promasters) leased on to major carriers and over the last 3 years that's about what we average. As said, not trying to be a dick. In that spirit, I would ask another question: You appear to be what I call a "white tail" which means no carrier, no DOT number, I assume no authority. That can be a good or bad thing. Lots of sketchy immigrants in ratty sprinters and Pensky Uhaul trucks do this without even a driver's license. They drive until they get busted, then another one takes their place. I'm not saying that's you, but I wonder how you feel about those guys since, as an independant, you are competing with them mostly. Thoughts?

I make .45 cpm I have to pay for fuel I have to pay for a lease on the truck that I'll never own I have to pay for occupational insurance I got to pay 20% for escrow. And you have to wait around for them to bid on loads so last week I got stuck in Arizona for 5 days I made $1,000 going from Minnesota to Arizona after all those fees I brought home 245 bucks

That looked like the HEB parking lot in Laredo. Thanks for the info. Drove 15 years over-the-road & then 5 years of driving a vacuum truck locally in the oilfield. I love being home, but sometimes miss the adventure. OTR general freight is no way to make money. Too many "bottom feeders" will take the cheap loads & the brokers know that. Tim, Its less important to know how much you make, and more important to know how much you get to keep...what is the bottom line after all expenses? Please give us an idea how much can be made in this line of work on an annual basis instead of talking about individual runs. Gross income less all deductible expenses...fuel, insurance, lodging, maintenance....You could say you made $100,000 last year, which would sound impressive, but if you had $75,000 in expenses, then not so much. Can you get good medical? How long do you stay out? How many weeks? I’m sure I won’t make much if I come home every weekend. If I get into expedited I mite ditch apartment and live on road full time. Does your company have openings for company drivers for fleet owners? Do I need cdl? For cargo van? Do they have teams for cargo vans? Thanks

Know how it feels regarding the bottom feeders. But if Trump follows through on his promise to get rid of them then maybe things will change.

Just subscribed. I'm going through some of your videos now to catch up. You sound like your from Texas. I lived there five years and I have to say the one thing I liked best was the people. Honest and direct. They must have thought I was OK too because after a few years I was told "Your a Yankee but you're OK". Thanks for the reply and I'll be watching.

Very nice man. You don't have to deal with weigh stations of scale tickets do you? I've always wondered about that with the Sprinter & Cargo vans. I ended my 18 wheeler career with FedEx Custom Critical in Feburary 2005.

Thanks for the info man. I've subscribed to your channel. My health is what prevents me from getting my Class A CDL back so if I ever decide to go back to work and drive for a living again, this will be it. After 3 cancer removal surgeries, i can no longer use a manual transmission and they put me on disability because of it.

If you are in Sprinter or Ram Van you technically under 10k# gross, but in alot of states you are required to go to weigh stations, just because you are commercial. Alot of them bypass, but it's on you if you get pulled over.
